BURN IT DOOOWWNNNNNNNN!
We all know what a finisher in wrestling is; it's not only a move that is special to that particular wrestler, but it's a move that can only be performed on a weaken opponent, signifying the end of the match. When a wrestler would kick out of a finisher, there was shock and awe surrounded by the moment, understanding how much resilience and the never say die attitude that wrestler had.

At least it used to mean that.

Nowadays, in the WWE particularly, we might see 3-4 finishers from one wrestler alone before the match is over, and this isn't just the main event anymore. We're seeing this trend more and more in matches that aren't labeled squash matches. Though I can't speak for all, it seems that we've grown accustomed to this routine; we've been conditioned to not react to the first finisher or even the second, knowing that the story of the match is not over.

But if a finisher does exactly what it's supposed to the first time, we've left scratching our heads. Perfect examples of this is two Brock Lesnar matches - one with Samoa Joe and the other with Braun Strowman. It took Brock only one F5 to put both men down for the 1-2-3 in their respective matches. That brought on the sentiment of how weak both men looked against the Beast (there are other reasonings behind this, but that's neither here nor there).

Should finishers regain their powers of putting away an opponent the first time, in order to regain the excitement and aura of a finisher kick out? Should we see a swing back to when multiple kick out of finishers was only reserved for big time matches between big time opponents?

I mean, it really depends on the match and who's in it. But yes, I think it should definitely go back to that. Tho I have noticed that some wrestlers are winning with signature moves instead (AJ with Forearm/Calf Crusher, Dolph with a superkick instead of Zigzag, Joe now can only do the clutch, Alexa with DDT, etc). So that's kind of been cool. But I think it has to do with wrestlers getting held back, perhaps due to the strenuous schedule they take on. So instead of putting more effort into the match with much more wrestling, why not do big spots with finishers being used to help protect wrestlers.

Also, We all know why Brock is winning with one F5...so that it's a big deal and shock when Roman kicks out during WrestleMania.

I agree that finishers should be that devastating move that ends a match. When Someone kicked out, they were a beast! Now, people use finishers in their matches just as a regular move. The problem came along when everyone had to have a finisher. Back in the day, the top guys had finishers, not the mid-card guys. And if a mid card guy did have one, it wasn't a spectacular one. Now everyone has to have a badass finisher with a special name for it. IT flooded the market and made the finisher a bit dull and worthless. Then, everyone started kicking out of finishers and made them just moves.

I'd love to see finishers become devastating again. But devastating vs everyone. If Brock gets caught by AJ Styles and he hits the Styles Clash, it's over. He gets pinned. If Roman gets caught by the Zig Zag there is no kicking out.

But, if Sweet Chin music is a finisher, then no one should be using a Super Kick as a regular move in their match. If Someone is using a DDT or Hangman's Neckbreaker as a finisher, then no one else should be using it in their move set.

I don't see it going that way, but it would be nice if people stayed down when they got hit with a finisher.

I do recall Jinder's finisher being just that, a finisher when it came to his title run. So when AJ kicked out of it the night he won the title off Jinder, people were legit shocked.

As far as the super kick, I think it depends on how you set up the move. With Sweet Chin Music, HBK stomped his foot, built up the finisher before executing it perfectly. I don't mind the super kick being used as a signature move at all, but once someone starts stomping their foot for SCM and it's kicked out of...then we have issues.
