I think I'm gonna take them out. In my opinion, if you're good, then you're good, and you deserve to be in the top 8 no matter what metagames you win, even if this is THE dedicated mod server. Some people win only Standard Mod tournies and get into the top 8, which is bg altogether, because people who played better in more varied things are now left out. To give you an example of why I want to do this, I'm gonna take everyone who has points (I was originally gonna do the top 8, but after researching some things, the standings changed a bit) so far and compare them: Season 3 Standings (Current) #1 Bugsy23 - 63 Points #2 BBM - 43 Points #3 Y2JosHBK - 31 Points #4 Amazing Ampharos - 27 Points #5 Crunk Juice - 21 Points #6 lockon - 20 Points #6 Soannoying - 20 Points #8 meddle - 19 Points #8 Sir Spanky - 19 Points #10 Sandslash - 18 Points #11 kholdstaire - 10 Points #11 uberhaxx0r - 10 Points #13 Okashi - 9 Points #14 cena_jr_916 - 6 Points #14 Undergamed - 6 Points As you can see, there is a huge gap between #1 and #8. The only way those 2 are gonna com back right now is to win like every tourney left not named Standard Mod, or just win the Standard Mod tournies left. With the new system: Season 3 Standings (with the changes) #1 Bugsy23 - 21 Points #2 BBM - 12 Points #3 Y2JosHBK - 11 Points #3 Amazing Ampharos - 11 Points #5 Crunk Juice - 7 Points #5 meddle - 7 Points #7 Sir Spanky - 6 Points #8 kholdstaire - 5 Points #8 lockon - 5 Points #8 Soannoying - 5 Points #8 uberhaxx0r - 5 Points #12 Sandslash - 4 Points #13 cena_jr_916 - 3 Points #13 Okashi - 3 Points #13 Undergamed - 3 Points As you can see, Sir Spanky jumped from tied for #8 to #7. He only has to win twice and he will be 1 point out of first, as he deserves that seeing as he's been to 1 finals already. If meddle wins twice he would be tied for first. And look at the points from #2 - #4, undoubtedly closer than the current system, which makes people play harder each week, because in order to make the top 8, you really have to practice your game at every generation. Also note the place changes between the other people...definitely worth the effort to keep everyone playing even at the end of the season when people drop out because they don't think they have a chance. Now, AA might disagree, but I feel inclined to implement this change before Week 4 even starts, because it is unquestionably the better system. Even if we are dedicated to being a mod server, 3x and 4x multipliers seem a bit much when you really look into the points. Good players are players who can play a little bit of everything; those are the guys that deserve the top spots. Unfortunately, some of these guys are being screwed because of one dude's Standard Mod win, which is really uncool. This needs to be changed. |

Changing rules mid-season is bg regardless of how you look at it. It also adds variety and a sense of importance to some of the tournaments over others. There is no 1X, and it's really saying we do care more if you win mod standard than if you win GSC, about twice as much in fact. The multipliers were there with a clear purpose, and they really should stay. The disparity isn't so big at all; it's smaller than it was in the past for sure. Also, just as surely as changes help people, they screw people. Look at what you do to poor soannoying and lockon. |

I really like this idea, because some people like me, cant play mod standard, but can win things like RBY. I wouldnt change mid season though. |

Well, no offense to them, but considering they've only gotten points in 1 tourney, they shouldn't be that high anyway. |

I personally don't like these changes, especially midseason. Mod standard usually gets at least 10 people compared to rby and gsc which usually struggle to get more than 4. The greater challenge to win mod standard should definitely count for something imo. |

kk I'll consider this for Season 4 even though I still dislike the multipliers as they are. And bearzly if it counts for anything, Mod Standard had 6 and 13 people compared to the 9 and 12 for RBY, so it's not really that much different. I just don't like how some ppl show up to win 2 tournies and all of a sudden they are in like 5th place for the IML Championships. |

I object solely because I can't play anything but mod standard. And yes, I realize I'm not even in the IML this season anyway. |

Yes, that is how I feel, and I could have a better shot at getting in. Like Sandslash last time, he wins one thing and is in like, 8th and he never even played before. |

I dislike the idea of huge multipliers, so none at all would be awesome. However we could always just decrease the multiplier to 2x standard mod and 1x everything else? Spanky |

Everything should be reduced. I like the idea of everybody having to play harder and those who are at the bottom having a chance. |

Here's my opinion if it's worth anything... First of all, I agree that these multipliers are excessive. Despite bringing them down a bit from last season they're still a little on the high side. However, bringing it down to x1 makes no sense to me either, because some are harder than others. That being said, they metagames are fairly close (probably RBY to mod standard being the biggest difference). So, I guess what I'm trying to say is 1.5x for mod standard and uber mod, 1x for everything else. This way we still keep out emphasis on modded metagames. Also, the changes can wait until season 4. It doesn't seem right changing them now. |

I already said I'm not gonna change them now. Also x1.5 for standard mod would also require us to change the points system, because then we will end up with half number like 8.5 and all. It'll probably have to be something like: 1st Place - 8 Points 2nd Place - 6 Points 3rd and 4th Place - 4 Points 5th - 8th Place - 2 Points |

5th-8th place Points are for tourneys where we have 16 people and the like. If you win a round, you get points. That can always be argued both ways though... |

keep the 5-8 imo...it's enough to add up to something if you do it consistanly, but not enough to get you in alone |
