This thread should be used for discussion of the selections taken in the Division 2 draft. Applaude the great picks, criticise the poor ones, whatever you like, just try and keep all discussion to this thread, and not the actual draft picks thread. Feel free to post in here right now if you wish to. If you're feeling very ambitious, maybe give a Top 10 prediction?
Cheers, D2T.

Cotchin I would say is pretty much a certainty to go at pick one, with the second pick being a toss up between Palmer and Kruezer. Pick three however, may deliver a bit of a surprise.

Just note a change and an additional rule for the div 2 draft.
2007 National Draft draftees ca be selected ( this was known by mst but we forgot to put it in the rules of the drft)
And probably more importantly, 16 hours is the time limit for taking a draft pick. This may be revised during the draft depending on how fast it goes.
Don't forget draft picks for this years national draft can be selected with any pick from now on instead of aplayer.

Scratch that. After further research it looks like you should have been given Pick #2. I'm all for you taking your pick now, might just wait for dtm to post his thoughts before it gets made official though...

No worries, thats what we felt as well.
So rb, and to all other Div 2 coaches, do you guys understand the concept of being able to select 2008 draft selections?

How can you pick "no. 1 in the draft"?
surely you draft the players you want not the pick?

the national draft hasn't happened yet, therefore you are able to draft national draft picks.
We don't know who will be selected in the national draft yet thus why yu can't pick those players.

so if a player wants a midfielder with an early pick but they end with Natiunui because he was drafted there?
I think you should be able to draft whoever you like, even if they are not drafted.

Nah thats not how it works.
The option is there to take draft selections for our OWN National Draft which we will hold once the results of the REAL AFL National Draft are known.
ie. lets say Natanui goes #1 for example in the real draft, this doesn't mean RLL gets him. RLL can use pick 1 on whoever he likes, ie. a Watts or Rich.

I know its hard to explain, but all it is, is drafting the pick number, and not the acual player if you get me

i thought pick 5 equals pick 5 in the NAB draft.

Just for others that havent quite got it, lets say the REAL National Draft goes like this (Completely an example for the order of players)....................
1 - Watts 2 - Rich 3 - Natanui 4 - Vickery 5 - Ziebell 6 - Hurley 7 - Hartlett 8 - Sidebottom
etc, etc.
Now, with the Div.2 draft opening, this means that all Div.2 clubs have the opportunity to draft a SELECTION for OUR OWN National Draft.
Now just because Watts went #1 in the REAL National Draft, doesn't mean the #1 pick holder (RLL) has to draft him. He may CHOOSE to draft Watts anyway, but he can also choose Rich, or Hurley or Sidebottom, or anyone that was selected in the 2008 AFL National Draft.
Hope that clears everything up, however if you're still a bit confused, please say so.

I'd also like to make it known that whatever draft selections that aren't picked up by Division 2 clubs in the Div.2 draft, will be up for grabs in the "All-in" draft, which will be held at the conclusion of this Division 2 draft.
