What about if you play say a sml defender in a Key Back position you get for example a loss of 25 points for that players. Instead of copping a 0 you get what would happen in AFL? They play worse/get more goals against them?
Any takers on this idea or just plain and simply play them in there correct positions?

Too much work and too complicated.
Why can't people just play them in their main positions?

Yeh it porbably is.
I'm just saying in the AFL if all your FF's are injured you don't just leave it open?
You play a player who is less likely to score the goals but is still there.
Becuase if we are only selecting 18 or 22 players (are we?) then injuries could cause some trouble.
But if we are selecting full squads never mind.

Division 1 - Drafts 18 rounds worth of players then... Division 2 - Drafts 18 rounds worth of players then... Division 1 & 2 - Draft remaining players on senior lists then... Division 1 & 2 - Draft rookie players for rookie list

Oh ok my mistake.
I must of mis read. Thought were doing 18 then the Div 2 draft and then pick a few more.
Picking a full list is good but we need to have a few solid nights of consecutive picks.

I worked out before we started the following.......
If we started drafting on November 1, we would need to draft 5 players a day to be finished by Round 1.
Now, we aren't even at November, and not only are we at pick 40 odd, but we're going at over 10 picks a day, no reason we couldn't be done by January some time, maybe earlier.

Surely Michael Johnson isn't a full-back?

Yeah maybe not a FB, maybe a CHB though?

He's a key back though, although yeah I'd rather he be played at CHB.

He's a tall back. Surely as long as you have a KPP back in a KPP position it wouldn't matter? That's like saying Anthony Rocca can't play FF just because his preferred position is CHF.

Just to clarify - can any key position back play full back/center half back?

Well surely he's more of a FB than Jarrad Waite? I can't afford one of them to miss out because of it.

TBH I don't have a problem with it, be interesting to get other coaches thoughts, but IMO if they can play CHB, they can be played at FB.

personally i don't think so. Whenevr this question is asked i always think back to the great lions sides and Leppitsch at CHB and Michael at FB. They didn't play the others position at all. Therefore I think you have to play a FB at FB and a CHB at CHB.

Do you see a problem with Johnson at FB? Personally I don't, as he's probably had to go to a key forward out of the goalsquare many a time.

I have no problem with Johnson at FB, if I had drafted him that's where he'd be playing in my team.

Maybe we should talk about this in the 'Playing players in positions' thread.
