I'm fine with 4 hours. If you hand a preference list in then the 4 hour limit means nothing anyway.
The thing is, with work commitments what happens if myself or the other admin don't get on for those 4 hours with people's picks?
send preference lists to all 3 admin. One of us should be ableto get on in that 4 hours

Need to set a date for the new time limits to start from. I say Saturday would be a good time to change it. That'll give everyone a couple of days notice so there can't be any complaints.

You're right Shabby, the draft needs to be speeded up but just consider few things when comparing to afl2008.
We don't have many replacement coaches, if any at all, waiting in the wings. We want to try and give everyone a really good shot at being a coach and this probably means we've been a bit generous with what we've done. Also we are still ahead of where we wanted to be at this point in time, thus meaning we didn't feel as we needed to sack coaches for being slow.
Having said this I think we've got to the point now where there are obviously a couple of coaches whose positions have to come into question and I think we'll be a bit more harsh on them in future. (Just my opinion, haven't discussed this with other admin.)
Also, the 4 hour time limit is fine with me. Would have to be a stop between say 11pm and 8am though. If it's fine with D2T i think it should start on sat morning at 8 am.

All fine with me.
Saturday at 8am the 4 hour limit WILL begin, so coaches if you're going to stuggle to make it on, a preference list will obviously be needed.

11 Angry Squirrels Looking like a team of the future. With only two real "older player" in Haselby and Houlihan it's a team that probably won't be promoted first year, but when they do look out! Very good midfield with strong depth. Coached by one of the best. Look out for: The huge scoring capabilities of Harris, Simpson and Haselby. The key is: Dalziell and Armitage, and whether they can take the next step
Australian Bushrangers Coached by TBNB, who has seemingly lost interest of late, the Bushrangers have taken the extreme youth path and will take a number of seasons before they're promoted to the big league. With so many young players, they will struggle to field a 22 some weeks. Look out for: The Bushrangers to win the wooden spoon. The key is: Whether or not Polak can return to AFL football.
The Fudge Packers Another team that has loaded up on young players, but has worked that well with a few more experienced players in Pearce, Jack and Butler. With question marks over a few of their players, can future stars like Cotchin and Dangerfield take this team into the Division 2 finals? Look out for: Cotchin to be the Division 2 MVP. The key is: The development of key position players like Gumbleton, Hansen, Leuenberger and Henderson.
Southside Slingers Sounding more like an NBL franchise than an AFL team, the Slingers mix their older players with a massive amount of high draft picks. Having 6 of the top 12 draft picks in the upcoming National Draft will be the key for the Slingers. Will proven scorers Adam Simpson, Chad Fletcher and Warren Tredrea be able to guide this admins outfit into the finals? Mid table finish followed by a promotion in 2010. Look out for: #3, #4, #6, #7, #9, #12. The key is: The older brigade and whether or not they can keep up their scoring.
The Flying Doormats After nabbing the #1 draft pick, TFD has a drafting strategy change and decided to go for middle ranged players resulting in an odd looking squad. Potential stars like Grimes and Veszpremi will play alongside proven scorers in Embley, Shaw and McMahon. Lacking in depth, any injuries will be a serious set back to the first year promotion hopefuls. Look out for: Underrated scorers Embley, Symes, Shaw and McMahon. The key is: Whether or not the weak forward line can stand up under pressure.
Woodville Warriors Mixing youth with experience beautifully, JM's boys should have a strong season. I tip them to finish top 2 in 2009. Stanton, Gram and Thornton should hold them in good stead against any team. Lack of draft picks could hurt the team long term. Look out for: Stanton. Super-star. The key is: Fringe type players like Blake, Bradley, Everitt and Thomson.
SWR Slappers Focusing on potential stars, rather than ready made players, the Slappers have taken many risks which should pay off. Whilst the team could go either way, coach RB has identified talent well. Whilst lacking depth, some handy draft picks will go a long way to solving this. Look out for: Connors and Otten. Two players that shouldn't have lasted as long as they did. The key is: Kennedy. Needs to step up at CHF.
Geelong Lightning Interesting team set up. Alot of older names in P Burger, Burton, Headland, McDonald, Stenglein and Wirrapanda. Will need to be promoted first year or they will struggle for years to come. Lacking in draft picks, I'm not sure where the improvement will come from and with no real fire power I'm tipping the Lightning to be making up numbers in division 2. Look out for: Injuries/Retirements to hit hard. The key is: Tom Hawkins. With such a high pick invested in him, he better stand up.

I'm guessing that rll selected him and then realised he'd already been taken so he edited his post and will pick again later

I appreciate the time taken to give these reviews, but surely your analysis of my team is a joke.
You say a lot of old players. But in reality there isn't. Burger, Burton, McDonald and Lade are my oldest. The rest have still got a few years off footy to come.
I have also balanced it out with some younger guys in my 22 with Kelly, Reilly, Jones, Higgins not old at all.
Waiting in the wings to replace my older guys are players like Lower, Proud, Callan and Duffield who are already decent scorers and will only get better with experience.
The Lightning will smash every division 2 side out of the ground this year, and would do ok in Division one.
Draft picks have been overrated by may division two coaches.

Riz u might smash div 2, but every team bar maybe aus bushrangers will have a legitimate shot at a div 1 flag before u.
You get promoted, then burger, mcdonald, lade, burton and headland all retire at the end of 2009/10... goodluck trying to replace 5 of ur best 22 and trying not to slip back to div 2 in 2010 and beyond.
Even if this game lasted a decade (which I agree, no games do), you would probably still never be a div 1 premiership coach.
Kelly has no upside, what you saw in 2008 is the best he will ever be (and he was very good I agree)... but at 23 y/o, ur best midfielder averages low 90's.
I picked up Kade Simpson who averages only an effective kick less than Kelly with picks about 50 spots later than what you used to get ur midfield gem.
Hawkins is just as likely to have another up and down season considering he is still wearing a moon boot with his potential stress fracture. Can't see him automatically replacing Lonergan or Mooney for a round 1 walk up.
Your team is exceptional for a divison 2 side in 2009, however if you don't get promoted then, u probably never will.
I agree completely with RLL.

Firstly, Headland isn't that old. But the same stuff could be said for a few teams who have old scorers. Every year you lose players, but there are many methods that you can recoup them.
Trading, Drafting etc. Whatever happens next year, I am assured of a top 8 pick. Which in time will replace one. I also have ready made replacements that are sitting in my reserves, they have just as much potential to score well as the likes of the younger guys drafting.
People in division two have put way to much importance on being young. Get your team then go young if you want. Taking draft picks can go either way. THey might be good, might be shit.
Kade Simpson is average at best. You can't polish shit and turn it into gold stoney.
As for Hawkins, your perceptions are skewed by the fact you don't have him in your team. Tomma will be right to go, he was right to go come finals. Massive year he will have, we both know it.
