So relegation is determined by one round? I don't like it to be honest. One bad day shouldn't result in a team being demoted. Injuries late in the season from the tanking AFL teams could possibly determine who is which league.
Also in the AFL Rd21 week shouldn't the 2nd elimination final be between the "loser qualifying v winner 1st elimination" not the loser?
Yes, it should be "loser qualifying v winner 1st elimination". Changed now.
Only one of the bottom 2 teams can be eliminated in the first round of the finals. They finished bottom 2 and lost their first final against the other bottom 2 side.
The winner of the 1st elimination final then plays the loser of the qualifying final (5th v 6th). The loser of THAT final then becomes the second team eliminated.
The only way a team that finishes outside the bottom 2 can be relegated is to be beaten by one of the bottom 2 sides in the 2nd round of finals. They would have to lose TWO finals.
Either of the bottom 2 sides can save themselves from relegation if they are good enough. Can't see how it's unfair if a team finished bottom 2 in the league AND can't beat their competition for relegation in the finals.
