KINGDOMS The separate kingdoms was forged in to one political entity during last centuries with unified state structure, code of law, and army, kingdoms sustain autonomy with they state symbols, parliaments etc. In London law is enforced in name of the King of England, while in Stockholm- in the name of the King of Sweden, but still its the same law. Major power of parliaments is to grant taxes and deal with local legislation. Were is rivalry over being the center of power, but generally local nobility, controlling the parliaments finds modus vivendi royal government – Kings priority is foreign policy and military and for support in this issues he tends to leave nobleman's alone to solve they deals themselves. Each of kingdoms is de facto headed by the kings regent, who leads Kingdoms Council who is composed by model of the High Council of the Realm. Kingdom of Denmark ![]() Capital: Jelling Seat of Parliament: Roskilde The very heart of the Realm Denmark is also only kingdom under direct rule of King and High Council of the Realm is also Council of Kingdom of Denmark. Royal court is also primary composed of danish nobles. Denmark is generally country of landlords, but being a center of large empire stimulates growth of cities. Kingdom of England ![]() Regent: Edmund Blackadder, Earl of Wessex Capital: Winchester Seat of Parliament: Winchester After death of Edgar the Ætheling, Anglo- Saxons revolted against Danish rule tree times ( 1150, 1193 and 1215) and there was numerous of attempts of lesser scale. England de facto restored independence during reign of Christopher II. But as old royal line was long gone, barons began to rival among them selfs and in 1289 Danish launched invasion to retake island, they find popular support in hope to restore peace and order. While Royal court still considers Anglo- Saxons as somewhat rebellious, there was no major uprising in last few centuries (except few ill- fated attempts of small groups of barons). England bordering Scotland and Wales and constant border conflicts and is raging in borderlands. On the other hand England is also center of Realms commerce and trade. Kingdom of Norway Regent: Sigurd Galtung, Count of Bergen Capital: Trondheim Seat of Parliament: Trondheim Once main rival of the Denmark, Norway is now considered to be provincial part of the Realm, largely because of its geographical nature. Kingdom of Sweden Regent: Birger Bjelbo, Jarl of Bergen Capital: Stockholm Seat of Parliament: Stockholm By the power and importance Sweden is second only to Denmark itself. Similarly to Denmark, landscape of Sweden is dominated by landlords manors and households of freeman's, while few bigger towns is on the coast. Kingdom of Iceland Regent: Sigurd Arnarson, Jarl of Thingvellir Capital: Thingvellir Seat of Parliament: Thingvellir If Norway considered to be provincial, hard to say something about Iceland. Taking over Iceland (1325) was one of last conquest of Danish. Few members of local authorities was granted titles and since then life in Iceland is peaceful and unnoticeable to rest of the world. There is rumors that Sweyn V take one more crown in 1437 only to avoid direct rule over island. The only thing Icelandians stands out is they're scalds. Grand Duchy of Finland Regent: Gustav Vasa, Jarl of Turku Capital: Turku Seat of Parliament: Turku While being part of Kingdom of Sweden, Finland also have autonomy and parliament as Grand duke is King him self. Finland to Sweden is something like Norway to Denmark. With local nobility of Finnish and Swedish origin, few small ports and low density of inhabitants, it is land of farmers and hunters. Thus, Finland have huge resources of of hight quality wood. Duchy of Estonia Regent: Johannes Kanna, Jarl of Reval Capital: Reval Seat of Parliament: Reval Estonia have similar status as Finland only in kingdom of Denmark. Only other thing separating Estonia from Finland is lack of woods. |
