By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time. The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return. Worlde Arcane: Ufaeria: Felkin Taure (Falcon Forests): N'ner Taure (Lesser Falcon): Faerwood Inn Faerwood Inn Literally established out of an old, hollowed out faerwood tree is the Faerwood Inn. Internally the establishment appears to be moulded from the tree itself, even the cups and plates are made of wood. The current owner a Wood Elf of indeterminate age keeps the inn in fairly poor condition. It is clear that the Inn is not often visited mostly from the large amounts of dust and cobwebs that permeate the building, however it is fully staffed and seemingly has enough stock to still supply food and drink to the weary traveller who may come across it. Mind yerself however, as only the mysterious sort ever come round this part. The entrance to the Inn is a little hard to find since it blends in with the other trees. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (FROM: Places unknown) Unegeraa opened the door, it creaked from a lack of use, clearly no-one had been using that door recently and thus the innkeeper had felt little need to oil it as often as they should. Unegeraa was surprised at this Elves were normally more fastidious than this with the care of their homes and work-places. The Inn was dark and it took a few seconds for Unegeraa's eyes to adjust, dusty tables were spread out in front of him backed by an empty bar. "Hello?" he growled loudly in a murky form of Common. There was a commotion from what was presumably the kitchen or living quarters, pots and pans falling over and the indication that who-ever was back there was most certainly not expecting any visitors. Unegeraa was most surprised when a Wood Elf finally appears, not because he was a Wood Elf, but because he was fat, he's never seen a fat elf before, in his experience is was unheard of. "Ummm.....what do you want?" the elf asked in a quiet voice, fear was coming from him, a smell that Unegeraa's Wolvian nose could pick up quite easily, he was used to it. "What most people want when they enter an inn, food, drink and a place to sleep, you got these?" The elf stood there, mouth open for a few seconds and as the effects of his waking and fear of a potential robbery or killing drained away and the realisation that he had a customer dawned on him his demeanor changed. "Oh....oh.....oh yes, why yes we do, I have all of those" the elf clapped his hands together and then wandered off through a different door. Unegeraa was left alone trying to figure out what he'd walked into, it looked Elven on the outside, but certainly did not feel Elven on the inside. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Given Unegeraa's thirst the wait felt much longer than the few minutes it actually was, however a young elf maiden eventually appeared from where the innkeeper had gone and in a quiet timid voice spoke. "What can I get you sir?" Unegeraa was sure that if it wasn't for his excellent hearing he would have had to ask her to repeat herself. "Just an ale will do for now and a plate of vegetables, uncooked." The girl looked surprised, he didn't look the sort to be asking for only vegetables, but she wasn't about to question him and she went off to the kitchen. On his part it wasn't that he didn't want meat, just that he preferred his meat still warm from the kill, whereas good veggies could be somewhat harder to find. When she returned she placed a large pewter of ale in front of Unegeraa and a bowl filled wit hthe requested vegetables, she then took a breath and closed her mouth, took another breath and then started to sweat. Unegeraa rolled his eyes. "I'm not going to bite yer head off girl, I expect to pay, so what'll it be?" The elf girl jumped and then stuttered out the cost, 76 copper pieces. Unegeraa dug through a pouch attached to his belt and handed over the amount. Something very odd was going on, he did inspire fear in others, his size and race both had a factor....but this was something different and now he wasn't so sure that it was him that was causing the fear. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From the edge of the woods she'd seen him arrive, it wasn't often she spotted a Wolvian in these parts of the woods. Curiosity had her wondering why he was here. Usually she tried to avoid this area because of the memories, but every few years she'd find herself drawn back to this spot. She'd been watching the inn for a few days or so hoping other travelers would come. She was looking for information and local news but could never seem to bring herself to stay here when there was no one else there. Even though it was off the main roads there was usually some trafic passing through and always some weary traveler willing to tell her what they knew for the price of an ale or three. As much as she feared anyone figuring out that something was wrong with her it was difficult to get news without some contact with others. The Uman she'd brought with her didn't count. She didnt fear the innkeeper, she'd learned his weaknees years ago and used it to advantage everytime she could. She already had what she needed back at camp, at least now she could get some news and get some decent ale before the urge to run forced her on again. Climbing down from the tree top she'd been in, she headed back to camp. She was pretty sure he'd seen her going in but she wasnt too worried, the Uman knew better than to talk to anyone except her and would stay in her room once she'd paid for the room and food. Then she could try to find out what she needed to know. ~~~ She took a deep breath and forced a welcoming smile on her face, pushing open the door, she walked in and called out to the innkeeper in common walking right up to the bar. She kept the cowl of her cloak up but let it settle back just a little from fully concealing her face. She waited somewhat calmly ignoring the Wolvian for the moment, and idly tapped the toe of her boot against the bar as she waited. The innkeeper hurried out from a back room, stopped in his tracks when he saw who it was, but continued forwards after a hurried glance to be sure the Wolvian was still there. She smiled to herself, unslung the cloth sack she had over her shoulder and watched the Innkeepers eyes widen hungrily at the sight of it. As he furtively pulled it behind the bar she asked for a room for her and her servant for two nights and thanked him as he handed her the key to the room she always used while at the inn. "I'll have a meal sent up for my servant, but will have a glass of ale by the fire" She handed the key to the Uman and walked over to sit by the fire after handing over enough coin for the room and meals. She settled her self into the chair, leaving her hood up and stared into the fire waiting. |

Unegeraa looked at the newcomer briefly, odd he thought for a place to be so rarely visited and yet shortly after he'd arrived a second person came in, she, for he could tell the....elf...was female was travelling with an Uman, another oddity, elves usually preferred to travel with their own kind. He frowned at the package that was handed over, but gave it little thought, it was no business of his. Unegeraa took a swig of the ale, some of the dark liquid missed his mouth, he brushed the droplets away with his wrist and then picked up a parsnip from his bowl, placed his back to the bar and studiedthe woman who now sat by the fire, he considered joining her, but one look at the chairs made it obvious that his Wolvian behind would not find much comfort from them. With a crunch he started on his parsnip, it wasn't a fresh kill, but it contained nutrients he needed to keep himself strong. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She sat patiently watching the flames and sipping her ale, she could feel the eyes of the Wolvian on her from time to time but was content to wait. She knew by the time she turned in for the night her Uman would be asleep, but the room would be just as she expected it to be. She'd been fortunate to have found this one young enough she could train it to do what she needed and to keep quiet about her unusual tendencies. After a while the innkeeper returned and she motioned him over to ordered a plate of food. Very shortly he returned with a small plate of boar meat barely singed by the flames of cooking and soon the sweet scent of blood filled the air as she cut into it carefully and licked at a piece before eating. She focused on her meal trying to keep from wasting a drop of blood. The taste of the meal was divine as always. So she didnt notice the innkeeper shudder as he backed slowly away, before turning and rather quickly heading into a back room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unegeraa tilted his head, he didn't see many people eat food as raw as what this female was eating and wasn't surprised at the innkeepers barely concealed revulsion. He knew little of the cooking process himself bar that it did make some food taste a little better, but for him that usually only applied to vegetables, he couldn't stand his meat cooked at all. He walked over to the female bringing his bowl of varied veg with him, the smell of the meat and blood clear in his nose. With his height even if she were standing he would tower over her, the fact that she was sitting made it even worse, so he lowered himself into a half-kneel to put his face closer to hers, he only liked the advantage of his height when challenging an opponent, the smell of the meat was fairly strong....but not right for him. His lupine features revealed little barring the yellow irises and startingly clean white teeth as his tongue momentarily licked around his gums. "It is not often that an elf would be seen eating meat, let alone meat that has only seen the brush of a flame, for what do you torture our host so?" Unegeraa asked this in a growling form of common, his voice deep and gravely and it was clear that whilst well spoken common, it was common forced from a mouth not designed to speak it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She watched him approach out of the corner of her eye as she chewed and swallowed. Her small size always made dealing with and speaking to Wolvians and interesting challenge and usually a pain in the neck. She appreciated his tact as he knelt to make speaking easier. So he is well traveled, she thought to herself. Her many years of travel as a mercenary in and around Lesser Falcon had given her plenty of contact with Wolvians so she had no problems understanding him, though it disconcerted her that she had not noticed the unease of the innkeeper, or for that matter his exit from the common room. She had not realized she had gone quite so long without meat, again; which the Wolvian had noticed and that made her strangely nervous. She answered him in fluent Wolvian, "I acquired a taste for it many years ago, and find from time to time I enjoy the flavor. I'm not sure why it seems to have bothered our host, I visit here infrequently on my travels and he knows me." With only a brief pause for a sip of ale. "Have you been in the area long?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unegeraa laughed at the elf's well done, but still unusual show of his races native language, all of the yips, howls, growls and other assorted noises were meaningless to most people and even sounded fairly funny as he knew from his earliest venture into non-Wolvian land, he switched to Wolvian himself as she was clearly well instructed in it. "Meat cooked so little is hardly something you enjoy from time to time, I myself have had to help you furless due to eating poorly cooked meat, you do not have the stomach for it" He could not comment on how the innkeeper had changed as this was the first time he had met him.....and yet.... "I've not been here long no, just passing through seeking employment where I can, a caravan to protect, some trinket to find, farm to guard, I'm open to most things, however there is something unusual here, I sense that there is something wrong, I cannot smell quite what it is, there is an unusual hint of death in the air outside though for a place so full of life." As he finished the innkeeper approached, still looking very green and clearly not really wanting to be anywhere near them, even the odd look that most might give on hearing Wolvian speak was not there. "Uh sir? will you be needing a room for the night, it is getting late and I will be locking the door soon?" Unegeraa thought for a short time and then shook he head. "No, I do not need a room, beds made for the furless form do not fit me well, get me a pewter of ale and I'll do fine right here by the fire." The Innkeeper hadn't expected this, but wasn't about to say no to one of his few customers, he went off to get the ale, not trusting the serving girl to keep her stomach. |

Ravenette realized too late that she'd already given away that there was something wrong with her. I've got to do better than this, she thought frantically to herself. Knowing nothing now could change anything at all, she continued to slowly eat but had to try very hard to now show how much she was enjoying the meal. She was a little panicky but kept her features as relaxed as possible, she knew it couldn't completely fool him but hoped he wouldn't ask any further questions. "Oh a mercenary like myself then. I've traveled extensively through the Lesser Falcons but it's the first time in a few months I've been back to this Inn, I've not noticed anything unusual though." She finished her meal as the Innkeeper approached, and wiped her lips quickly on the edge of her sleve. She didnt want to cause any more grief to the poor man, so once again she didnt think she'd be staying as long as she had hoped to. At least for one night she'd get to sleep in a bed once more. After listening to the Innkeeper and watching him retreat once more she thought it best not to remain for another drink but to head up to her own room and get some rest. "I think I shall be turning in for the night, enjoy your Ale and maybe if you're still around in the morning we shall speak again. It's been nice to practice my Wolvian again after so long." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Only the Lesser Falcon? Then you have much to see of this Worlde furless" Unegeraa said with his tongue lolling out the side of his mouth. Unegeraa stood and from observing the niceties amongst some Uman cultures he offered the elf hit large paw to help her up. "The name is Unegeraa, I am a Roh so as you should know, I am clanless, I should not doubt that I will still be here, I tend to be a late waker." His other hand moved to the plate to grab himself another vegetable, a slice of swede by the looks of it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've never had need to leave the Lesser Falcon's, yet." She tried not to smile at the expression on his face as she took his hand and stood up. She craned her neck back, other hand up to hold the cowl of her cloak in place as she looked up at him from the level of his belt. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance Unegeraa, I am known as Ravenette Martok, mercenary." She left it at that since she had no memory of which house she may have been born into prior to her fathers death. The only remaining memory she still retained where the words he yelled out to her, from the burning inn the night he died. She could no longer even remember his face. She released his paw, and the smile slid from her face as she turned and climbed the stairs towards her rooms, images of this inn burning in her minds eye. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unegeraa watched Ravenette dissapear up the stairs towards the guest rooms. As with his sense that there was somethign wrong with the innkeeper he felt a similar concern over the woman....intuition had never been his strong point though so he shrugged and finished off the place of veg. He then sat down on the floor next to the fire and slowly drank up the ale, it was enough to get him sleepy which was just what he needed and so he settled down, lay on his left side facing the fire and let himself drift off into the state of partial rest common amongst his species, ready to wake at a moment's notice, but asleep enough to rest his body and mind. Depending upon the working of the staff and the woman and her companion he would still be in that position come morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Worlde Arcane: Ufaeria: Felkin Taure (Falcon Forests): N'ner Taure (Lesser Falcon): Faerwood Inn: Guest Room 1 Half way up the stairs, she stopped and shook her head to banish the images of the inn burning. She had to stop letting that nightmare deter her from finding out why it had happened and where those monsters had come from. Her father's murder deserved that much at least. She entered her room and looked around quickly. The bed sat against one wall looking as if it had grown out of the wall. Opposite the bed was a small table with a wash basin and a small mirror hanging above it on the wall. The child had done well as always, the travel packs were stacked neatly by the door of the room, the window between the bed and table was open, and the Uman was curled up on a pallet in the corner of the room fast asleep. Ravenette walked over and lightly brushed the child's hair back from her face, and then removed her cloak and laid it over the packs. Sitting on the edge of the bed she removed her boots and lay back pulling the quilt over her. Minutes later she was fast asleep. |

Within moments of drifting off to sleep, she rose once more pulled the cloak about her and stood looking down at the child. Her face was contorted with hunger and she quickly knelt next to the child lifting her from the pallet. She pulled the cloth scarf from around the Uman's neck revealing several old and healing scars. She sunk her fangs into it's neck and began drinking hungrily. The child grunted in it's sleep but didn't wake. Carefully she pulled her self away, wiping the wound in the child's neck she retied the scarf and laid the still sleeping child back on the pallet. She remembered years and years ago when she didn't have the strength to stop before the child would die, it had made staying in one place extremely difficult. Now she could hire or adopt a child from the fringes of any of the larger towns, travel for weeks or months and have a source of food close by when she needed it. Raw meat could abate the hunger for a few hours at most, but it could not replace the craving for Uman blood. She regretted having waited to feed this time, though. She could go without for two or three days at most but if she waited that long, her daytime self would start to crave raw meat. It was harder to conceal her illness if people had to watch her consume raw or near raw meat every few days. She ignored her boots and carefully lowered herself out the window onto a tree branch, and swung her self from branch to branch til she reached the ground. There she crouched listening for any sound, checking for anything out of place outside of the inn. The Wolvian had been correct something wasn't right, something had changed since the last time she'd been this way and what ever it was had driven away most if not all of the traffic that normally would visit the inn. She just hoped the Wolvian didn't think what was wrong with her was the cause. The Wolvian was already beginning to suspect that something wasn't quite right about her. She couldn't risk staying another night that was for sure. It was a shame, she'd hoped to hear news of the worlde, and maybe see if the Wolvian might know anything of the creature that was lurking in these woods. She'd tracked it this far, but until she confronted the fiend that had infected her she'd never know why her fathers inn had been razed that night. She'd found out that much in the hundreds of years, since that horrible night. What ever the reason, the fiend that had sent the monsters to raze the inn, was the same one that had found her in the woods years later and had infected her with this disease. She shook her head once more, to banish the image of the flames. Looking up between the branches of the trees she saw she had several hours yet to scout the area before she had to be back to "wake" and go down for breakfast. She took a quick peek through the window on the main floor to make sure the Wolvian wasn't awake to see her, and then took off at a fast jog between the trees eyes scanning every direction for anything out of place. She'd be back before morning and make an appearance, see if she could find out anything and then head "somewhere" so long as it was some where she could find some sort of work. She was running out of funds again and the innkeeper didn't deserve to be robbed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For Unegeraa the night passed uneventfully, he slept soundly as he expected to and woke to the sound of the kitchen being prepared for the Inn's guests. He would have preferred not such a noisy wake-up, but it was at least about the right time. Unegeraa got to his feet and performed a few small stretching exercises, usually he would have done more, but the Inn's immobile tables meant he didn't have the space for his full routine, he figured he'd sort that out when he got outside. The innkeeper approached and coughed to make himself known, as though Unegeraa wasn't already aware. "What would you like for breakfast Sir, we have a reasonable range of foods for most guests?" "Milk, a pewter of milk is all." Unegeraa growled. "Milk? are....are...you sure?" Unegeraa just looked at him impassively, not wanting to annoy the large Wolvian the innkeeper went off to the kitchen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette stretched under the blanket, as Minu gently shook her awake and pointed at the window. "Thank you, child" Ravenette said as she climbed out of bed, "I shall bring some food up for you after my breakfast if you could pack up everything and have it ready, I'm afraid we wont be staying another night like I'd hoped." Foregoing her boots, she noted once more she seemed to have streaks of mud on her toes, she pulled her cloak on and settled the hood atop her head and wandered downstairs in search of so food. As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she passed the innkeeper and asked for a small bowl of fruit, and a mug of milk if he had it. Smiling she walked over to a chair by Unegeraa and settled herself into it. "Good Morning. I hope you rested well?" she asked in Wolvian. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unegeraa looked at Ravenette and his eyes narrowed, she appeared to be well rested and yet.... "Morning, yes I did, fully rested and ready for a new day, whatever it may bring me, and you?" She smelt of the outdoors....not of a person who had slept in a bed, but before he could comment any further the innkeeper returned with the small bowl of fruit and the small mug and large pewter of milk. "Here you go Sir and Madam, uh, I understand that you both are mercenaries and as such may be looking for work?" Unegeraa nodded and then in common responded. "Go on." "Not too far from here is Macrugh's Farmstead...almost a village in itself to be honest, a very close-knit community they also supply me with a lot of my goods....well....the trader that visits said they've been having a bit of trouble lately, animals going missing, people missing time, hunting has been poor in the area too. They're not sure whats causing it all but it's been unsettling them, they're mostly farmers and tradesmen so not many fighters amongst them, I'm sure they could do with a couple of experienced people such as yourselves?" Unegeraa lapped from his pewter and thought for a moment, he hadn't planned on teaming up with anyone he was generally quite happy alone...or at least he told himself so, not accepted by his own kind for what he had done and not accepted by anyone else for being the large beast he appeared to be. For the benefit of the innkeeper he stayed in common as he looked at Ravenette and said "So, how do you fancy a trip to this farm place then?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I'm doing well, a bit restless so I may head out today though I've not decided which way just yet." Ravenette answered in Wolvian, pausing as she saw the innkeeper approach. The fruit looked delicious and her mouth watered a she listened to the tale. " Macrugh's Farmstead" sounded like an even better place to find news of what she sought, but she hesitated. She was low on funds and needed to find some sort of work soon, but could she keep her secret for several days in his constant presence? She was terrified of being found out, but desperate as well to discover what she could of what was wrong. She'd made it this long from never staying in one place, or staying to near anyone else for more than a few days. "How far is it to Macrugh's Farmstead?" she asked to give herself a moment more to think. If it was too far, she'd have to decline. No more than 4-5 days was the longest she'd ever managed to stay as part of a caravan before the whispers started and she'd had to flee and that had been with Uman's. She's barely braved out 3 days around the last Wolvian before she'd run. Worst case she could wait a few weeks and head towards the village in the hopes he'd moved on, and she could investigate then, but the easiest way to get information was to help them first then ask. What to do? Was it time to risk in the hopes of finding out something? This was the closest she'd been to finding out anything at all about what had happened so long ago... But could she chance the risk! |

Unegeraa nodded to Ravenette's response, it was a stock answer, but fairly typical of a mercenaries life, you go where the money is and leave where the money isn't. For Unegeraa his motivation wasn't really money, he could live of the land easily enough, it was more something to do and if he didn't want to be taken fro a theif the only way for him to enjoy the comforts and trinkits of the so-called civilsation that many races chose to live in then he had to earn some coin. He looked at the innkeeper to hear what answer he would give Ravenette. "The Farmstead is about a day's journey by foot, couldn't say how fast you all could travel but with that little-un you got up there it might be just over a day I suppose." The innkeeper advised. Unegeraa knew that he could travel much faster than most and he suspected that one his own he could reach the farmstead in maybe half a day at full-pelt, perhaps 3/4 if he took it easy, but with this elf and her young Uman...perhaps, the company would make a change. He looked to Ravenette to see how she would react to the Innkeeper's response. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette nodded in relief. One day, two at the most was a managable amount. Depending on the work and the farm, the longest she'd need to worry about was maybe 4-5 days. Any longer and she might have to "disapear." Wouldn't be the first time she'd had to run when the risks grew to high. Hopefully the farm wouldn't be too large or too filled with people. She was never comfortable in crowds. "We can go check it out, can't imagine it will be anything to difficult to handle." She answered. "Once we've eaten, I'll gather up my suplies and my servant and we can head off to this farm." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "As you wish Ravenette" Unegeraa's deep voice rumbled. He had no supplies to gather and had already paid the innkeeper his dues. He wasn't sure what they'd find at this farm, but he was sure it would prove to be interesting, even more-so to have a couple of companions along with him. Without further preamble he left the inn ready for the day ahead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unegeraa walked out of the Inn and breathed in the forest air, his fine tuned nose detected the smells of many nearby animals...and blood, fairly fresh too, however that was not unusual given the activities of the animals within the forest, there was always something hunting something else and almost as often being succesful. As Unegeraa waited for Ravenette and her young companion to get ready he instead spent his time practicing the martial techniques that he now had the room to do. The majority of them involved slow careful movements designed to aid the flow of his spirit through-out his body which would make his Stoneskin power easier to summon, interspersed into the routine were faster mroe aggressive moves designed to train his muscles into speed at a moments notice, a Wolvian mus tbe ready to fight at a moments notice, to go from stationary into speed. Of course the Wolvians with Fleetfoot had a greater advantage in this, but it still helped to make sure that he kept himself in peak physcial condition, more-so that he had no clan to back him up....not that it would have made any difference aside from having more even sparring partners. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After he walked out, Ravenette gathered up some of the fruit. Called up the stairs to the child and waited as Minu brought the packs down the stairs. "Thank you, child. Here eat this while we travel, you are not looking well again. Did you not have a restful sleep?" Ravenette settled the dual sheaths for her swords across her back, as the child shook her head, but hefted the small pack and bedroll in her hand and carried them. Adjusting the cowl of her cloak she stepped out of the inn. \TO{Lesser Falcon} |

\FROM{Faerwood Inn} Ravenette stepped out of the inn, pulled the cowl of her cloak a little lower and then caught site of Unegeraa exercising in the open area in front of the inn. She watched for a few moments then wandered over and set her pack on the ground a little ways off. She stepped up beside him and began to follow the movements in lock- step with him, only leaving out the faster paced steps. Stretching before a journey was always important, though she was mildly worried about Minu it wasn't the first time the child had shown signs of illness only to improve once out in the woods again so she put it out of her mind. After the exercise set was done, she walked back grabbed her pack and settled it on her back. Adjusting the cowl once more, she beckons to Minu and turns to Unegeraa. "Are you ready to head off?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As Unegeraa practiced his flows and combinations he noticed Ravenette's exit from the inn followed by her Uman child companion, the child looked a little pale, Unegeraa knew enough to know that often meant an illness ofsome kind affected the child, but otherwise he was unfamiliar with the ailments of Umans in general, let alone their pups. The elf woman seemed interested in what he was doing, people often were. Whilst some races practiced similar martial forms they often differed from the Wolvians ones and were solely intended to improve the muscles and reflexes, although Unegeraa had met a monk once who claimed his forms were not martial at all, but were purely to balance his soul. However it surprised Unegeraa as she joined him, matching his forms almost exactly only leaving out the ones which required sudden movement, she had clearly learned more than just the Wolvian language from the Wolvian(s) she had met in her past, although that in itself surprised him, the Wolvian language was surprisingly hard to learn, let alone speak as well and now this elf also knew the martial forms well enough to match his own movements, he wondered if carrying out such actions affected her spirit at all, perhaps a SpiritMaster may be able to answer that...if he could ever find one? "You are full of surprises Ravenette." he said once they had finished the routine. "How do you manage to perform the Uglen-On-Rou so so well?" Whilst waiting for an answer he decided to take pity on the Uman child who looked about to fall over instad of being ready for a days walking, he picked her up and placed the girl on his shoulder, the action resulted in a "eeek" from the girl and then a tight clutch at the fur around his head as she was now almost 7ft off the ground. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Is that what it's called?" Ravenette asked in Wolvian, smiling as she watched him effortlessly hoist the child up on to his shoulders. Travelling this way would speed their travel so she was glad that he'd considered carrying Minu, instead of them all struggling through the woods at the child's pace. Normally, when it was just the two of them the slow speed was okay but travelling in company always made her nervous and fidgety. She shrugged her pack into place on her back, " I knew another Roh once, very long ago. I can't remember if he taught me or not." She looks puzzled for a moment, "We traveled together for a while, but it was so long ago I don't remember. When I saw you doing the forms it came back to me and I remembered it had always helped when traveling. Shall we make for this farm and see what we can discover?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "There are a few of us about, any society will have it's ahhh...black sheep I believe it is in common, I doubt I know him, I've not met any of my own people since leaving my clan." Ensuring that Minu was securely in place over his shoulders he turned an eye to her. "Child, I will be running, so make sure you hold on, do not worry about hurting me, I've had worse." the common rumbled out deeply, Minu nodded, apparently not trusting herself to speak and did indeed grip tighter to the fur around Unegeraa's face. "The Uglen-On-Rou does many things, and that does include a loosening of the muscles to aid in speed and agility, tell me elf, can you keep pace with a Wolvian? Unegeraa then started running in the direction that the Innkeeper had indicated, at first with only his feet, then he lowered his arms and started bounding with all four limbs, something the Wolvian physique was designed well for. The sun had barely moved in the sky...at least what could be seen through the light canopy of the forest when he checked back to see how well his elven companion was following. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette laughed as he took off. "The exuberance of young pups!" She thought to herself, "Somethings never change." She shook her head and took off after him at a more restrained pace, fast but one she knew she could maintain for several hours without tiring to quickly. One good thing about travelling with a Wolvian again, even if he got so far ahead of her that she couldn't see or hear him she'd still be able to easily follow his trail. That thought brought her back to the one name she had been trying not to think about all morning. She sent a silent prayer up to any deity that might be listening. "Stay safe, old friend. Someday Argroww... maybe you'll be able to forgive me for disappearing like that so abruptly and with no explanation. After everything we'd been through, you deserved that much at least but I can't risk anyone knowing what's wrong with me. At least not until I know for myself! Please let me find the c lue I need soon, so I can finally be able to track that monster down!" A semi frightened-excited squeal from Minu brought her back to the here and now as she watched the pair streak past a fairly large tree with only inches to spare. She wasn't worried for the child at all, remembering fondly her own first "ride" at least Unegeraa wasn't going down the side of a mountain to escape a band of Trolls. He'd had to carefully and very gently pry her fingers out of his fur after that ride! She gave a small laugh, she'd either have a very hard time getting Minu anywhere near him again after this "run", or she'd never be able to convince the child to walk again! Minu was definitely her favorite of all the children she'd ever hired or adopted. The child was bright and a fast learner, she'd picked up the basics of Elven very quickly and knew common before Ravenette had hired her. Yet in all the months since Ravenette had found her she'd never once spoken aloud, simply communicating through nods and gestures. It was a mystery but one that Ravenette was thankful of, for once she had no fear at all that her "companion" would reveal more than what she herself unintentionally let slip. She'd have to watch herself and be even more careful to not let anything more show. |

Unegeraa wasn't used to having a passenger and had to think to be more careful, something he considered as he sped past a tree just a little too closely and earned a curious noise from his passenger that decided was an exclamation of fear. Looking briefly over his shoulder he noted that whilst fast, Ravenette could not match his speed and thus he slowed down a little, again something he felt sure the Uman female appreciated, he thought it odd that she had not actually said anything....noises yes, but no actual words, he wondered if she was mute. It didn't happen often but Wolvians did occasionally have those that were mute, or blind, or deaf, such ailments sometimes resulted in their other senses coming to greater strength, especially in those with the SpiritMastery talent as it often allowed them to compensate easily....however it could just as easily result in an early death by one of the many clashes with the less friendly denizens of the places where clans chose to live. Unegeraa continued his slower pace, his keen senses spotting where dangerous spots may be, hunters traps, loose soil, hidden branches under piles of leaves and occasionaly he might bound off a tree to change direction quickly only to bound off another for the same reason each time checking back both to ensure that Ravenette was following and that she was in no danger herself. The Lesser Falcon was not known for it's dangerous beasts as much as the Greater Falcon, but it certainly had it's share of bandits, as far as Unegeraa knew the local clan of this forest kept themselves hidden and protected from such bandits through the use of clever SpiritMastery, but he had no such power himself. not that he felt he needed it. That was until he passed an Uman hiding behind a tree that clearly hadn't expected a Wolvian to come through at speed (or even a Wolvian at all), a poorly aimed arrow sped past him, fortunately also missing Minu, however where there was one bandit, there was almost always more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette wasn't worried about his speed, but noted when he'd slowed down to allow her to keep pace. Keeping within site of each other was a wise thing to do while traveling together in these woods. Even though she could see he was constantly scanning for dangers, she didn't allow herself to become complacent in her own watchfulness. She'd been living and travelling inside these woods for a long time and knew better than to trust that there was nothing there. Even so, the sudden appearance of an arrow streaking past Unegeraa and Minu surprised her enough that she nearly slid on a patch of damp leaves right into a tree before she caught herself. Thankfully the distance between them proved to be an advantage; Who ever the archer was he had seconds to realize the Wolvian was not alone before her drawn sword whistled towards where he was standing. Who ever this group was they'd forgotten to post a scout to warn the main group of the size of the approaching party, or their scout had acted prematurely at the sight of such a large Wolvian streaking past inches from his place of concealment. Either way it was not likely to end well for them. Unegeraa didn't have long to take stock of the situation, not with Minu on his shoulders, he wouldn't risk harming her....till then he'd thought of himself as being pretty selfish in his more inward moments, and yet here he was giving concern over a young Uman passenger. The archer he suspected had losed the arrow by accident more than intent as right now the archer was standing staring at him, mouth open and his free hand still in the release position, this also meant the man had no idea that Ravenette was quietly running up behind him, sure in the knowledge Unegeraa looked about to see who else was nearby, bandits never travelled alone. He didn't have long to wait as the rest of the bandit group was a little quicker on the uptake than the archer and rushed out from behind various places of concealment. Unegeraa wondered why they were here specifically, it wasn't close to the road which meant they had been laying in wait for someone else, he didn't give it too much thought though as the 4 other bandits rushed him with assorted blades. The first that reached him clearly had never fought a Wolvian before, the thin man rushed Unegeraa with a long knife, Unegeraa's own arm had a better reach on it's own that the man's arm and blade together, the bandit found him self suddenly lurched off his feet by a hand-like paw easily large enough to pick him up by his head. Unegeraa used the man's own momentum to lift him off the ground and throw him towards the nearest tree, the move was followed by a sickening crack as his body attempted to wrap itself around the tree. The remaining bandits turned out to not be that stupid and halted in their tracks at Unegeraa's viciousness and quick execution. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette was not surprised in the least when her sword met no resistance at all as it cleaved a wide slash across the archers abdomen. She rebounded quickly from the tree and settled into a temporary crouch, slipping a dagger from her boot top as she surveyed the group approaching Unegeraa. She grinned as she watched a body fly into a tree a few feet away, “One, two... down” was her only thought as she took aim and threw the dagger at the nearest attacker. A slightly over weight thug who seemed to be on the verge of swinging the club in his hands.. “Seriously a club... against a Wolvian??? “ She shook her head. Who did these fools think they were going to find travelling a back road like this? Isolated locals for sure would have been easy pickings for these ruffians but any experienced traveller and most locals knew to travel in groups, these thugs had to have been waiting on someone specific, maybe, or were just purely so new at this to have no clue as to what they could possibly run into. The thug with the club gave a grunt as the dagger embedded itself in his shoulder severely hampering the mobility of his weapon hand. No longer worried about his effectiveness in battle she scampered around the outside edges of the battle towards the next attacker. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With Ravenette's actions the archer was swiftly gone, Unegeraa has dispatched one himself, this left 3 of the bandits left, 2 if you considered that one was now injured almost to the point that he was out of combat. However they were clearly desperate, in a do or die situation. Unegeraa cared not for the reasons, but with Minu still clinging on tightly his options were now limited. He could not fight to his full ability and had to rely upon foolish moves by the 2 remaining assailants, or to perhaps distract them long enough to allow Ravenette to take them. He roared a challenge at them, claws open and head angled low, he decided to charge the nearest man when he then noticed that the second man was pulling a small pre-loaded crossbow from a strap against his back, the bow curiously was then aimed at Minu and within seconds the spring-loaded weapon launched the bolt in an unmissable path towards the young Uman. Unegeraa didn't consider the tactical reason behind the bandit taking this action, Minu was the least of their worries, instead in the short time that it took the bolt to travel from the bolt to Minu he managed to put his arm in it's path and barely thickened his skin in time to stop the bolt from doing too much damage, it still penetrated though and Unegeraa bellowed in pain then look at the bandit responsible, fear visible on the mans face. It struck Unegeraa then that perhaps this had not been a random meeting, why target a child when there were clearly two more threatening targets....because to someone the child's death held value, but why? His right arm punctured and bleeding, but by no means useless Unegeraa swung his left arm in and upward arc has he crossed a short distance forward the nearest living bandit, his sharp claws cutting through cloth and skin and disemboweling the man giving him a brief moment to see his own innards before pain and shock took him from this mortal plane. That left the crossbowman who was now trying to re-load and perhaps seemed the most able and fearless of the bandits and the injured man Ravenette was now dealing with. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ravenette was still to far away to do anything but watch as the crossbow bolt flew towards Unegeraa and Minu. She cried out in surprise when the bolt just barely missed Minu. She had no time to think on it though as a bellow from behind her alerted her that the club wielding thug had turned to come after her. Minu recoiled as the bolt impacted into Unegeraa's arm, jumping free she flattened herself into the underbrush at the side of the path keeping him between her and the crossbowman. Scrapping her arm on a patch of thorns as she ducked behind the trunk of a fallen tree. Ravenette slid to a stop, turning in a crouch, angled her sword in a defensive position and waited for him to charge. The thug charged in bringing the club down at her leaving her no choice but to block it with her forearm. Recoiling as it impacted she brought her sword up, in a back handed slice up, with the other hand across the thugs upper chest and throat. He toppled forward pinning her to the ground, as the blood poured from his throat. |

For the moment Ravenette was not on his mind, he felt the minor difference of weight as Minu jumped off though. Seeing that the crossbowman was trying to re-load, and fairly swiftly at that the large Wolvian leaped the short distance between them landing with his snout a short distance from the crossbowman. The man then did something entirely unexpected from Unegeraa's point of view, he tried to side-step the Wolvian, presumably to target Minu again, this earned him a swift punch to the head from Unegeraa, killing the man instantly and also sending him flying. Unegeraa licked his claws clean and turned around to look for both Minu and Ravenette, quickly spotting Minu hiding behind a tree, the girl was quivering and reeked of fear, so not difficult for the hunter that he was to find. Ravenette turned out to be a little harder to spot due to being trapped under her last assailant and her smell being disrupted by the strong smell of blood that issued from the man she had just killed. Unegeraa stalked over to where they lay and he lifted the dead weight from her and noting that whilst covered in blood she did not appear to be harmed herself, he threw the dead bandit's body to one side. "Are you okay?" he said simply, for the moment no worry about the bolt sticking out of his right arm, the thickened skin around it stopping any bleeding for the moment, although he knew he'd have to release the stoneskin effect to remove the bolt properly later. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ravenette blinked upwards through the blood on her face as the weight suddenly lifted off her. “All dead?” She asked as she groaned, wiping some of the blood from her eyes with her sleeve, while licking her lips. Without waiting for a reply, since he wouldn't just be standing there if there was further threat, she called out softly but worriedly “Minu? Are you safe, child?” Minu checked to make sure it was safe to come out of hiding, and once she saw it was ran over and hugged Ravenette tightly. “Shh, child it's ok i'm fine. None of it's mine.” Ravenette looked her over quickly and reassured herself the child was ok. Minu let go and turned to Unegeraa and bowed in thanks for his protection. Ravenette looked up at him, “I'm fine, nothing a quick wash in a stream wont fix at least.” As she looked down and realized she must be quite a sight, with streaks of blood almost covering her from head to toe. ------------------------------------------------- "Yes, all dead." Unegeraa took in Ravenette, she was remarkably well covered in blood, not a sight that disturbed him but he'd seen the usual Uman, Elf or Dwarf reaction to blood and it was generally more akin to how Minu had reacted, he also did not miss that Ravenette licked her lips clean, much like he'd licked his own claws....however he suspected that had done this without conscious thought, odd. Strangely he couldn't help compare the sight of the little Elf woman with some lore he'd heard for older Wolvian courting rituals, a potential couple would hunt together, allowing the frenzy of the hunt to improve their bonding as a pair and their desire for each-other, it was no longer practised as it tended to make a fearsome sight for those that did not understand what was going on. "I'm not sure a stream alone will clean you off enough, the blood is soaking into your clothes, you will need to clean them properly else we risk scaring the farm dwellers, believe me I've seen the reaction to being blood-soaked from my early forays into the towns and villages" Unegeraa sniffed the air, trying to separate the coppery smell of blood from the other smells that should help him locate a river or source of water. "Hmm....that way" he said pointing north-west, fortunately it was only a slight detour to the direction they were going in anyway. "So, why do you think that they would have been after Minu? What is her history?" -------------------------------------------------------------- Ravenette shrugged. “The clothes I can wash later, I have another pair I can change to.” She kept on arm around Minu's shoulders as she followed Unegeraa, keeping her close while the child slowly began to relax. “ Honestly I know nothing of her life before I found her. She's been with me for over 2 years now and has never once spoken a word. She's not deaf as she knows both common and elven now, but sleeping or awake she's never once uttered a word. I found her on the outskirts of a town trying to steal some food, I took her in and she's travelled with me ever since. We work well together and though she doesn't speak she writes extremely well for one so young. I've offered to teach her to fight and she does have a small dagger of her own, thou she doesn't shy away from seeing violence done, she prefers to avoid any form of confrontation as much as possible. She's one of the best companions I've had in a very long time, she gets sick from time to time but as far as I know most Umans do.” They reached the river then and Ravenette dug into her pack for her second best tunic and breeches. Minu realizing Ravenette was going to wash, stepped closer to Unegeraa smiling up at him but still jumping at the slightest noise from the woods around them. Without thought to who might be watching Ravenette peeled out of her stained tunic and soaked it in the stream, rising it and using it to wash as much of the blood off her as she could before wiggling out of the breeches and exchanging them for the cleaner pair. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Unegeraa stood and watched as Ravenette cleaned herself. He considered that for as much time as he's spent around Umans and Elves and the other races, he'd never seen the furless ones unclothed. It was an unusual sight to see so much bare skin, he wasn't really sure what to make of it, he looked down at Minu standing next to him and was started to find her wide child's eyes looking back up at him, he couldn't help wondering what was going through her head. He often got a mixed reaction from the young, some treated him with fear, others with boundless curiosity in a way that the adults seemed to never be, unfortunately given her decision to not talk he could never know what was going through her head, but it appeared for the moment that she had chosen to trust him. Unegeraa looked back at Ravenette who had finished washing herself off and was now redressign into cleaner garments, clothing he felt was a hinderance to most things, but then he had fur to keep him warm, otherwise what else were they good for? "I rarely keep company long enough to consider anyone a companion, such is the life of a Roh, not accepted by my own people, not accepted by any other, however here we are now, bound by first combat, I must admit that little diversion was more exciting than my usual mercenary work, just fact that I am there usually results in any possible threats chosing not to attack who or what-ever I may be guarding." Unegeraa's yellow eyes looked at Ravenette as he spoke, watching her dress, but without the leacherous gaze that males of other races would probably have. He then looked ot the sky, noting the suns position. "When you are finished we shall move on, we've lost time, but should still get to the farm before the day is out." |

Ravenette was conscious of his gaze as she redressed, but thought nothing of it at the moment as she listened. “I must admit I am as surprised as you are that they seemed to have ignored you to go for Minu. There must be a reason for it, but I can't fathom that they thought of her as the greater threat.” She glanced at Minu and smiled as Minu reached up and patted his arm. “I've never seen anything in all my time with her that anyone could think of as being threatening....” Ravenette followed his glace at the sky, “I'm ready, hopefully we wont run into anything else unexpected before we reach the farm.” As they set off she couldn't help but glance at him from time to time, thinking on what he'd said.. “bound by first combat” she just couldn't stop remembering the last time someone had said that to her. She couldn’t help it, she knew he was different from argroww, but he had the same youthful exuberance that was quickly undermining her wariness. --------------------------------------------------- Unegerra hefted Minu onto his shoulders again, she seemed more trusting of him now, after all he had clearly shown a desire to place his own safety before hers...although he knew he was more capable of defending himself than she was. He grunted a little at the bolt still ejecting from his arm, surely it would be better to remove it now that wait till they got to the farm, a Wolvian would be scary enough, but one with a bolt sticking out of his arm....or even a wound. "Curse it" he said simply and then jerked the bolt out of his arm, Minu grabbed on tightly expecting him to react more in pain probably, but such pain was not unusual to him and he simply let out a soft rumble, ah rhomwort, Unegeraa scooped up some moss and then packed it over the wound and then started a reasonable pace towards their goal. "As do I, we could do without more fights like that, not that I do not relish a good fight, not sure I can really count that as a good fight though" He said to Ravenette. --------------------------------------------------- “Agreed, Who ever they were they certainly were not trained fighters. Well hopefully once we reach the farm we can sort out whats causing the disappearances and maybe someone there will have heard or seen something or might know why those men we're after Minu.” Ravenette loosened one starp of her pack and slid it around so she could reach in. Pulling out two small packages she handed one up to Minu and unwrapped the other food pack. Her and Minu were used to traveling rations, few strips of dried meat and a bit of cheese, water from their cantines was usually enough. It wasn't much but they were both used to foraging for fresh berries or nuts as they traveled. It was enough to tide them over until they reached the farm and for now thats what mattered. ------------------------------------------------------------ Fortunately the remainder of the day went without a hitch. Sometimes Unegeraa would put Minu down and ask Ravenette to wait whilst he went off hunting, he had no desire to let the young Uman see him eat, it could be a messy affair and he'd found in the past that most Umans seemed to be less than fond at seeing a Wolvian eat their prey. The day started to dim as the fires of a working village came into view on the horizon, his alert ears could hear the bustle of activity and chatter from the people who worked and lived nearby and even caught an "eep" from a boy standing by a tree, his eyes wide at the sudden appearance of a large furry wolf-man with a girl on his back and an elf at his side. "Boy, is this the Farmstead?" he asked pointing towards the collection of buildings visible through the trees. The 'Boy' remained mute, his mouth moving and his eyes wide, apparently not taking in what Unegeraa has asked. Unegeraa sighed, this was going to be tricky, the people here were not familiar with his race...or at least not familiar enough to realize that he wouldn't try to eat them. ------------------------------------------- Ravenette lay her hand on Unegeraa's arm and stepped forward squatting down in front of the boy, drawing his gaze. Under the shade of the tree she pushed the cowl of her cloak back and smiled. Freshly washed her hair shimmered and ran down her back, with it tucked behind her right ear it was easy to tell she was an Elf. “Young man, can you tell me if this is Macrugh's Farmstead?” The boy nodded but his eyes kept focusing past her at Unegeraa. Ravenette looked over her shoulder and watched Minu slide off Unegeraa's back and step over waving her hand to say hello. “Hello, Minu. Young man, this is Muni she doesn't talk but she is a friend and that big guy is Unegeraa, he's a Wolvian. We're looking for Macrugh could you show us who he is?” The boy nodded, and with frequent glances over his shoulder at Unegeraa , began to lead them through the farmstead. Everyone they passed, paused what they were doing to watch the group warily. \TO{Macrugh Farmstead } |

\FROM{Lesser Falcon} On the far side of the largest house they came upon a n older Uman weathered, wrinkled and grey but well muscled; chopping firewood and stacking it against a small shed with smoke curling skyward from a hole in the roof. He watched them approach without pausing his work until they were close. Ravenette stopped and reached into her belt pouch and handed the boy a silver penny, and thanked him for his assistance watching as he ran off. “Mr Macrugh? The inn keeper of Faerwood Inn, suggested we might be able find some way to help you.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Did he now lass?" the farmer responded. "Well at least ah've got ah prettier face than the usual help tha' get sent mah way." He looked at Unegeraa. "Almost" he added. "So, ye came aboot oor troubles, well we 'ave heaps'o'them, got cows goin' missin', lost a pair o' newlyweds an sev'ral mercs come'n'gone. So, ye wan'te stay and look aboot?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "I fear little Macrugh and I've got a good nose, I think we can help you with everything that is wrong here." The Wolvian said, the farmer then focused on him, seemingly not realising that he could talk, but then the large Wolvian was surprised by the grin that appeared on the old Uman's face. "If perhaps we could take a look at the..ahh.. newlyweds home maybe so I can get a smell of them?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Eager are ye'?" The old Uman said. "Alrigh' come this way" He said leading the trio towards a house towards the edge of the farmstead, the journey collecting the looks of several of the other occupants of the land. Ravenette in herself didn't capture the attention, barring from one man who shortly after got chased home by who was presumably his wife. Unegeraa however was what got their attention, being where they were they'd heard rumours of Wolvians, but the gigantic figure was not what they'd expected. Minu got little attention at all, aside from the fact that it was considered unusual for such a young Uman child to travel with a Wolvian and an elf. "Here ye' go, ye' are welcome te stay, I see ye travel lightly both, thar be tools indoors te use ifn' ye need it, we'll talk more in th' mornin'" With that Macrugh left. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Well, I must admit Ravenette that went easier than I expected, I'll go in and have a sniff around, then I'll let you and Minu get settled. Unegeraa opened the door which creaked and entered the building. \TO: Abandoned Cottage Unegeraa sniffed about the cottage, snorted and sneezed seveal times, but he could tell that he was getting the smell of Umans...a lot of them. "Stuff this, the whole village has tramped through here at some point, C'mon in Ravenette and Minu!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ravenette poked around outside of the cottage while she waited. There wasn't much; a small pile of fire wood neatly stacked by the wall, a very small garden now over grown with weeds and not much else. At Unegeraa's call she turned back towards the door and noticed Minu looking upwards at a rather stout branch overhanging the cottage. High enough up that it would be difficult for any Uman to reach from the roof of the cottage, and probably why It hadn't been trimmed back, it seemed to interest Minu. Ravenette shrugged and gathered up their gear , sticking her head in the door she smiled “Cute little home for a new family, hopefully we can find out what happened to them. I take it the cottage is not going to be any help in figuring it out?” “How would you like to approach this? Talk to the villagers and see if they noticed anything, or scout around the area and hope to find something?” |

Unegeraa thought for a while. "I'll scout around, see what I can smell out, this place is too polluted by smells to be of much use to me." He walked back out again, nearly cracking his head on the door frame which earned a snort from him. He started by sniffing around the house itself, like inside there were a lot of different smells, but nothing unusual. He figured that the couple must have been somewhere else when taken. So he wandered off to talk to people, the tavern would be the best place to start he figured. |
