Welcome to A Worlde Apart. We hope you enjoy your visit.

By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time.

The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return.

He had been walking the marketplace in Kentaru with Sita, Goldeneyes and Bull, free of the Annexe able to wander and look without free of punishment. The sights had been wondrous, and then Bull had said he wanted to show him something down one of the side streets. Alarm bells should have rung in his mind, but he trusted Bull he was one of them, a brother of the Arena. Sita and Goldeneyes were occupied looking at a market stall, he had turned down a side road and it happened, something sharp caught him in the side, piercing his shirt, another in his neck. His hands scrabbled to pull then free, but the worlde was starting to turn dark about him and his legs failed to hold him up. He went to call for help, but he felt Bull's hand smother his mouth, he struck out, someone swore.....he heard Sita scream.....a flash of gold.....then nothing.

When he did wake again it was to a swaying motion, ship he thought, he was in a cage, made of metal, his neck felt heavy as did his wrists, he was manacled and collared in Iron no doubt in an attempt to suppress his fire, fools...didn't they know he could push through Iron now. He did that back at the arena some time ago, he had been training to use his Pyromancy under Iron Claw's guidance and he was getting good at it. Something was wrong though apart from the pounding head ache....he no longer felt the heat that normally coursed in his veins.....he could not feel his fire, his breathing quickened, this was not right...no drug could do this to him.

A figure melted out of the darkness of the hold and sat on a stool not too far from where the cage was bolted.

The man was heavily built, blonde hair, cold grey eyes, his voice was equally as cold and hard.

"So you are awake Blaze.....thought I might have given you too much....Madrow was not precise about the dose of sleeping drug....I have gone to much trouble to procure you Pyromancer."

The fighter Blaze, who was also known as Talanis, regarded the man and then looked away.

"I don't know you!"

The man smiled then, there was no warmth in that smile, but he seemed genuinely please that Blaze did not know him.

"My Name is Lucion...I am Cathiss' half brother....you know Cathiss don't you slave....because you belong to him, out of all of them there all he wanted was you. You are a handsome thing to be sure, but Cat has it really bad for you, gave up everything, didn't care about the others, not even Goldeneyes...all he wanted was you!"

Blaze was silent, he knew why Cathiss wanted him so badly, a side effect of his own power had driven the Slave Owner to the darkest of his nature, the desire to possess, to break, and the thing he wanted to do that to.....was Blaze.

"Now me Slave." Lucion continued.

"I have no desire for your body or your soul....I want to tame your fire to serve us....you will not find me as easy a target as Cathiss...I believe in punishment if you defy my command....I will torture you....I will drug you....I will make your life a living Underworlde until you obey me without question....you will do as I order you Blaze."

He grinned as he stood up.

"If you are wondering why you cannot summon your fire....another little concoction of Madrow's.....he found the thing to suppress a Pyromancer, and I will use it until you are broken to my will. Madrow taught me how much to dose you....it will be dangerous....might even kill you if you hold out, but you won't...you will be my fighter....Cathiss' plaything...you will be all we want until the day you die!"

Talanis tilted his head and regarded Luc with some curiosity.

"You wish me to love you? You want me to share my body with you? Do you tire of your slave girls?"

Luc's eyes regarded him hungrily, there was lust in his gaze but he did not act upon it.

"I want you to deny Cathiss and be mine...totally...I will give you anything you desire that is within my power." He whispered, his hand moving to stroke Talanis' throat.

Talan gave a brief smile then.

"You will make me your equal, to rule this place at your side, you will give me fine clothes and jewels all in exchange for my favour....do you not think Cathiss promised me the same things...and he actually had them to give."

Luc's gaze darkened and he pulled away.

"Do not toy with me Talanis, when our plans come to fruition all that is his will be mine....and I will ensure you are most well kept and not over taxed by any burden ."

Talan reached out to lightly touch Luc's arm, his fingers were warm, his gaze equally so.

"When I kill him I will make you Lord of all you survey.....do not be so touchy....when this is done then I will be yours.....then you can summon me to your bed." He whispered back slowly and seductively into Luc's ear.

"Give the kill order Luc......let me show you of what I am truly capable."

Luc gazed into the deep green and golden eyes of the Pyromancer and he was dazzled by the beauty and the danger he saw there. He just wanted to drown in the depths of him and know everlasting pleasure alongside him.

"Not yet....love." He whispered softly, his fingers reaching to stroke Talanis' cheek.

"We have to wait just a while longer....it tortures me not to have you but we just need to give it a few more weeks!"

He would do this properly, he would do as Talanis asked and he would give the kill order soon, but he would not violate or touch the Pyromancer until the deed was done, he wanted Talan to come to him willingly, joyfully, he wanted to see the sort of love in his eyes that he never had for Cathiss....or Goldeneyes....a deep love for him alone.

"You are so perfect....so beautiful." He whispered softly.

"You are like fire itself, you burn my soul with your very presence. I would suffer it over and over like none before me have ever done....all your past lovers will be pale in comparison my Talanis."

Several days had passed and Talanis was becoming frustrated with Luc's lack of command to give the order to kill Cathiss and he decided to speed up the man's desire to kill him through what he knew would push Luc to do whatever he wanted....he would give him a taste of what he wanted so desperately. The fact was he had become somewhat skilled in the art of seduction and pleasure through Cathiss and he knew a well timed kiss or a touch to the arm or chest could do wonders to someone as pent up as Luc.

He had been moved from the small lock room in the cellar to a larger room with a large bed, mirrors and furniture. There were furs and velvets and silks adorning the bed and walls, gifts from Luc and from Cathiss, a jealous lover. He laid sprawled on the bed , reading one of the books Luc had given him to wile away the time when they were not sparring. That was where Luc found him, he had bought him a pitcher of warm spiced cider and some small fruit buns and a bowl of autumnal fruit.

"There you are." Luc said softly.

"I thought you might appreciate these, the weather is turning cold outside...."

Talanis set the book down and turned to look at Luc with a soft smile and he patted the bed.

"Come and share them with me my lord....I would welcome your company." He said in a soft rumbling purr.

Luc needed no second invitation, he laid next to his beautiful Talanis and smiled.

"You welcome it?"

Talanis leaned to lightly touch his arm.

"Of course, you are always so kind and thoughtful to me....more so than Cathiss, you have not brutalised me or forced yourself on me and I appreciate such gentleness."

The flattery was certainly working, Luc was lapping it up like nectar.

"How could I do that to you....you are my flame, my perfection....." He whispered gazing deeply into the Pyromancer's eyes.

Talanis leaned forward, the kiss was light, brief, almost coy but he knew that is what Luc wanted. Not the Talanis that had been used by Cathiss.....he wanted him untouched in his mind.

Luc pulled back momentarily, surprised at the action.

"Talanis...you know I wish to wait until Cathiss is dead before we are together." He said lightly chastising the younger man.

Talan turned away, faking his disappointment and frustration.

"Then give the order Luc.....it tortures me not to know your love." He almost half sobbed the words, but it was having the desired effect.

Luc straightened and stood.

"Tomorrow my Flame...you kill him tomorrow!" He said in a sharp tone.

"Then you can be mine for as long as we live!"

Luc sat down to breakfast with Cathiss, there was a cool silence between the two, but it was Luc that finally broke it.

“I am sorry Brother.”

Cathiss looked up from his food and suspiciously towards his half kin.

“Sorry for what Luc?” He asked.

Luc folded his hands in his lap and regarded his brother most levelly and took a breath.

“You are right, I have allowed myself to become attached to that which is not mine, Blaze uses his wiles and body to try and divide us and I see it clearly now. What he needs is a good whipping from his master to teach him his place and some respect.”

Cathiss sat back and listened to his brother’s confession with some satisfaction and a little jealousy.

“Blaze has flaunted himself to you? Offered himself?”

Luc looked most uncomfortable and contrite.

“He did, but I turned him down brother, as much as I desired it I said no. He said he wanted to know what a real man felt like.”

A cloud of heated anger drew across Cathiss’ face, hurt and betrayal, he loved Blaze, gave him gifts, treated him better than any other slave and this was how he was repaid, the thing he loved went whimpering for pleasure to his half brother.

Luc saw that look and inwardly he smiled, he knew what would wound Cat the most.

“I took the liberty of stripping him and tying him to the post in the courtyard to await your punishment.” He said slowly.

“I think a good striping of his body by your lash will soon make him see the error of his ways, and show every slave here who is the master.”

He needed to get Cathiss to go outside, after all he did not want the house burned down in Talanis’ lust for death, he planned to live here with his beautiful lover on the untimely death of his brother.

Cathiss rose and moved to the window to stare out at the courtyard, Luc was true to his word, Blaze was tied, naked and struggling to the post in the centre of the yard.

“Yes…you are right Luc….sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind and teach a slave not to get above themselves, no matter how much you care for them.” Cathiss moved to open a chest near one of the walls and he withdrew his whip.

“Come brother….let us punish a slave.” He purred.

Talanis’ struggles against the rope were for show alone, Luc had not tied him tightly at all. This was all an elaboration, a ruse to draw Cathiss from the house to meet his demise in a roaring blast of flame. He did not care that he was naked for he was not cold, not any more, the fire magic coursed through his blood hotter than ever before, straining at the very fibre of him to be released.

He would let Cathiss land one blow…one alone and then he would let the man feel his lash, a lash of flame and fire, more painful than any leather, a lash that would melt the flesh from his bones and turn his eyes to bubbling cavities.

He could hear voices from the direction of the house, Cathiss and Luc, laughing and joking about beating him….well the satisfaction would be Talanis' as he watched his abuser burn. The time was coming, retribution would be had, months of pain endured to be erased in a moment of magic fire, fire that only a Pyromancer could bring….a powerful Pyro as Cathiss would soon learn.

Cathiss strode out into the yard, his face determined and focussed, Luc trailed behind him slightly. The master came up behind his slave and stroked his flank gently.

"You have bought this on yourself Blaze." He said softly.

"You are mine....you should not have gone whimpering to Lucion for pleasure and attention! Now I am going to have to punish your spoiled wilfulness!"

He felt some frustration when Blaze stopped struggling and stared quietly ahead of himself without answering, Cathiss did not see that the normal deep green of Blaze's eyes were a flickering amber from where he stood.

He stepped back and unfurled the whip, hesitating briefly....could he do this....could he whip his Blaze? Then Lucion's words rung in his ears, that Blaze had wanted to know what a real man felt like. That hurt the most, the amount of times they had been together and pleasure had been sampled by both parties and there had been no complaint.

He gritted his teeth and swung his arm, the length of the whip swirling in a wide arc and it caught Blaze from his shoulder to his hip, a long red bloody welt.

The Pyromancer did not even utter a cry as he was struck, as he heard the swish of the whip drawing back for a second strike, he yanked one hand free of his restraint and turned to face Cathiss. Talanis extended his arm and as the whip was on its downward strike back to him he caught it, the blade of leather curling about his arm and he held it fast. There was a look of shock on Cathiss' face, shock and confusion as he tried to yank the lash back to him but Blaze held it strong. What concerned the lord and master more was the colour of his slave's eyes which he could see more than clearly now. The fire was no longer subdued in Blaze, it was there in his eyes, amber flame, which now regarded him with deadly intent.

"Luc!" Cathis hissed.

"Subdue him!"

He turned but his half brother was no where to be seen.

A voice spoke to him, a hard, cold voice, which was odd to Cathiss' ears as here it had only ever been deferential.

"Now you get to feel the true extent of what I am...you who stole me from my home....you who had me marked....had me whipped.....you who used me against my will....you...rapist and slavemonger!" Talanis growled.

Cathiss let go of the whip handle and backed up away from the Pyromancer, already the courtyard was getting unbearbly warm.

"You will stand down Blaze!" Cathiss pleaded.

"I am the one that loves you....I did all I did because I want you, love you....care for you!"

It sounded so weak and pathetic in that moment and he knew it as he looked into the wrath of the Pyromancer. It was a creature of magic and death, a thing that never could be contained, never owned, no more than fire itself. In that moment he saw it...saw his folly, but still he wanted him....why did he want him?

Talanis sneered.

"I am done with shows of your affection Cathiss....I will show you mine...."

The fire arced from his hand, streaming across the courtyard to ignite the robe that Cathiss was wearing, the silk went up so easily, streaking upwards, the man screamed and beat at his body, but still the fire came, his hair caught and was gone in seconds, his skin bubbled and blistered. The human torch fell to the cobbled floor, sounds emitted were no longer human in their noise.

"Do you not cherish such affection?" Talanis whispered as the figure started to blaze.

"Does my fire not kiss you as hungrily as any lover!"

Lucion watched from across the courtyard in an archway...his brother was dead...or dying....and he was in awe of the man that had bought about his demise.

Luc was very cautious about approaching Talanis after the deed was done, but the young man seemed calm enough, he stepped out of the archway shadows. The corpse of his half brother still burned in the courtyard, a horrible smell of roasting meat and acrid smoke.

He gestured to two nervous servants to douse the body with water, and he slowly approached the Pyromancer.

"You are a God....you command the fire of the heavens." He said softly.

His fingers lightly touched Talanis' naked shoulder.

"Come Talanis, let's go into the House and I can tend the lash mark on your back."

Talanis turned his head to regard Luc, his eyes flickering between amber and green, a satisfied look on his face.

"Yes....the mark hurts Luc....I would like a bath and then something to eat...and then to sleep." He said quietly.

Lucion had been hoping for more than that answer, he had hoped they might consummate their union that night, but after what he had just seen he was not eager to the point he would push the matter.

"If that is what you want Love." He said gently.

The answer he received was sharp and commanding.

"Don't call me that....he called me love and look where it got him. You have always called me Talanis, please continue to do so."

Luc had taken Talanis in the house and had a bath drawn for him, as he sat in the sumptuous marble space filled with scented hot water, the Pyromancer relaxed a little as Luc sat on the edge and gently bathed the welt on his back.

In the main bedroom, servants had laid out hot and cold food, they were used to what the Pyromancer liked to eat, he had spent enough time in their murdered master's bedchamber to know. There was salads and chicken, baked potatoes, carafes of red wine, and importantly peaches, it was known the creature in the bath favoured them.

Luc left Talanis to relax and went out into the main chamber, the deed was done...Cathiss was dead, all this was his.

He wanted Talanis to share his bed tonight, but he felt that to push him on the matter so soon might not be so wise....experiencing the pleasure of bedding Talanis himself could wait...he had waited this long.

A soft voice disturbed him from his reverie.

"Are you sharing this meal with me Luc....?"

Talanis stood in the doorway of the chamber that housed the bath, a soft robe of black silk sat about his body.

Luc looked at him, his desire rising at the mere sight.

"Aye...I will share the meal with you Talanis....then you can go to bed....you said you were tired....I will stay here in the chair until you sleep." He said firmly.

Days passed after the death of Cathiss and Luc was becoming more frustrated at Talanis' lack of interest in him since his half brother's demise. The Pyromancer just sat quietly and read books, ate a little and rested alot. That was what annoyed Lucion the most, that he took his rest alone and without his company. He still had not bedded Talanis and the patience he had was turning to frustration and the frustration to outright anger.

He slammed the doors open to the day room and stroded across the expanse of the rug to where Talanis sat, he yanked the book from his hand and threw it hard across the room.

"I tire of this....I have respected you, given you space, and still you deny me...maybe my brother had the right idea when he forced you!" Luc growled.

Talanis was quiet, deathly quiet as he looked across the room to where the book had fallen, his eyes turned back to look up to where Luc towered over him.

"Are you done?" He said softly.

"Far from it!" Luc snarled as his hand spanned Talanis' throat.

"I love you and you treat me with indifference....I give you everything and still you shun me....perhaps I need to take a harder approach!"

Talanis' eyes flared amber and the room grew uncomfortably hot.

"Your brother took that approach initially and look where it got him!" He purred.

"Perhaps you think to have me held down and subdued so you can have what you want, unfortunately for you that will not work, I will kill anyone that seeks to do that to me!"

Luc winced as he felt the skin of the Pyromancer's throat grow heated, it was becoming painful to hold him.

"Don't you defy me Tal....all I want is for you to share with me what you promised in the cellar....show me your love!" He said through gritted teeth.

He held on for a few more seconds and then he had to let go, instantly cradling his hand.

"This is not over!" He snapped.

Talanis' eyes reverted to their normal green.

"Oh I think it is!" He said smoothly.

"Lest you want a further demonstration of my resolve on the matter!"

A day or so later Luc found Talanis out in the courtyard, practising with his Katana. This was better than the young man lolling around and reading books, he drew his own blade and engaged him. Luc had to admit that Talanis had become a very good swordsman very quickly, his previous hesitence in attacking...gone. Obviously his own method of teaching the blade outstripped the overgrown dog that Cathiss rated so highly.

Talanis was graceful, there was nothing clumsy or poor about his movement, in fact it held a defined elegence now not previously there.

"Let me see what you can do my vicious little flame." Lucion taunted.

"Let me see how far you have come."

Luc was excellent with a sword...but Talanis was now proving more so as he was forced on the backfoot across the cobbled expanse. He was having to actually work hard now to defend himself against the deadly onslaught.

Talanis moved with practiced ease as he pressed his advantage against his foe, he wondered in the back of his mind what Iron Claw would have made of his prowess with a blade now....likely he would find something to criticise. He smiled to himself as he let his power flow through the metal blade, watching as it became heated, not enough to bend or damage it but enough to let Luc know he was adapting his powers.

Luc felt the heat as the blade came dangerously close to his body....he dropped his own blade and held up his hands, Talanis was becoming much too dangerous to handle, but that danger only inflamed his need for him against all the cautionary barriers his mind was trying to throw up.

"You win!" He panted.

"Let us take a drink together."

He handed the flagon of ale to Talanis, it had been heavily dosed to try and suppress the fire, He watched as Talan slugged it back and handed to him.

"It has no effect." The Pyromancer said softly, tilting his head.

Luc shrugged.

"You haven't not enough of the ale for it to!" He grinned.

Talan put on a bright smile of his own.

"No Luc.....not the ale....the drug you put into it...it doesn't work anymore....all it does is make me agitated....it will not put out my fire."

Luc turned a little pale at that point.

"I....I....don't put drugs in the ale."

Talan continued to smile.

"It's alright.....you don't have to pretend.....they wore off some time ago.....I burned them out, little trick of mine...took some time....but it happened."

Elroug stood next to the captain of The Firebird, the shore of Aerie coming into view ahead, the massive paddles on either side of the boat turning and pushing the ship against the wind that blew off the shore. The rapid splash-splash noise being a comforting reminder of how well that development had gone.

He looked at the other ships, each possessing it's own set of paddles, the decks covered with sailors, guardsmen and archers. Many of the combatants on board were highly disciplined and trained in various combat techniques, they were all more than ready to work their king's will, even if he clearly still didn't feel comfortable in his role as king.

"My Lord, it'll be but 10 minutes before we arrive, what are your orders?" The captain asked.

"We land of course." Elroug said simply, afixing his iron claws that he given him his name in the arena of old, he'd made several more modifications to them since then.

He looked towards Chay-Sa who stood nearby, she looked out at the the approaching land, her eyes narrowed, clearly seeing something beyond.

"He's angry Agraa." she said simply.

"I'm sure he is, it's taken us too long to get here, I dread to think what corruptions Cathiss and Lucien have placed upon his mind, in their own way they were both masters at twisting the minds of others, to make them feel as though they deserved what-ever punishments they received. Blaze is different, he's a Pyromancer and they are difficult to control...but to manipulate...well, everyone can be manipulated according to the circumstances." Elroug said in response.

Luc found Blaze not in the house but in his cell, sat on the bed, the Pyro looked angry which was not a good sign, but perhaps that might be alleviated by some killing. Talanis liked to kill, it seemed to calm him immensely, Cathiss had been the first......there were others though.

"Talanis my flame......I have a job fer you." He said softly.

"Yer unique talents are required to defend us against an oncoming force....they would take our home.....take you and force you to their will.....they would undo the freedom I have given you Talanis!"

The Pyromancer looked up a glimmer in his eyes.

"Then I will defend us master......when they come they will burn!"

Luc had withheld just who was coming....oh his scouts has seen who stood on the deck of the lead ship. They had finally come to rescue Blaze as he had once been....but they might get a bit of a shock there. Their precious Blaze was no more.....gone was the innocent, fiery impetuous boy.....replaced by something dangerous and savage, happy to kill and not hesitate either.

A finely muscled figure came to stand next to Elroug, his king. His long blonde hair caught in the wind and his golden eyes were firmly fixed on the shore. His bow was held loosely, his quiver on his shoulder.

"How much longer?" Goldeneyes said anxiously.

"He needs to be with us.....the gods know what they have done to him!"

The overwhelming desire to reunite with his lover were coming to the surface, not a day had gone by where he did not think of Blaze nor blame himself for not being quicker on that fateful day over a year past.

He had heard the tail end of Elroug's comments and it did nothing to calm his angst.

"I will kill Cathiss.....Luc too for what they have done....I swear!"
