| Welcome to A Worlde Apart. We hope you enjoy your visit. By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time. The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return. He had been walking the marketplace in Kentaru with Sita, Goldeneyes and Bull, free of the Annexe able to wander and look without free of punishment. The sights had been wondrous, and then Bull had said he wanted to show him something down one of the side streets. Alarm bells should have rung in his mind, but he trusted Bull he was one of them, a brother of the Arena. Sita and Goldeneyes were occupied looking at a market stall, he had turned down a side road and it happened, something sharp caught him in the side, piercing his shirt, another in his neck. His hands scrabbled to pull then free, but the worlde was starting to turn dark about him and his legs failed to hold him up. He went to call for help, but he felt Bull's hand smother his mouth, he struck out, someone swore.....he heard Sita scream.....a flash of gold.....then nothing. When he did wake again it was to a swaying motion, ship he thought, he was in a cage, made of metal, his neck felt heavy as did his wrists, he was manacled and collared in Iron no doubt in an attempt to suppress his fire, fools...didn't they know he could push through Iron now. He did that back at the arena some time ago, he had been training to use his Pyromancy under Iron Claw's guidance and he was getting good at it. Something was wrong though apart from the pounding head ache....he no longer felt the heat that normally coursed in his veins.....he could not feel his fire, his breathing quickened, this was not right...no drug could do this to him. A figure melted out of the darkness of the hold and sat on a stool not too far from where the cage was bolted. The man was heavily built, blonde hair, cold grey eyes, his voice was equally as cold and hard. "So you are awake Blaze.....thought I might have given you too much....Madrow was not precise about the dose of sleeping drug....I have gone to much trouble to procure you Pyromancer." The fighter Blaze, who was also known as Talanis, regarded the man and then looked away. "I don't know you!" The man smiled then, there was no warmth in that smile, but he seemed genuinely please that Blaze did not know him. "My Name is Lucion...I am Cathiss' half brother....you know Cathiss don't you slave....because you belong to him, out of all of them there all he wanted was you. You are a handsome thing to be sure, but Cat has it really bad for you, gave up everything, didn't care about the others, not even Goldeneyes...all he wanted was you!" Blaze was silent, he knew why Cathiss wanted him so badly, a side effect of his own power had driven the Slave Owner to the darkest of his nature, the desire to possess, to break, and the thing he wanted to do that to.....was Blaze. "Now me Slave." Lucion continued. "I have no desire for your body or your soul....I want to tame your fire to serve us....you will not find me as easy a target as Cathiss...I believe in punishment if you defy my command....I will torture you....I will drug you....I will make your life a living Underworlde until you obey me without question....you will do as I order you Blaze." He grinned as he stood up. "If you are wondering why you cannot summon your fire....another little concoction of Madrow's.....he found the thing to suppress a Pyromancer, and I will use it until you are broken to my will. Madrow taught me how much to dose you....it will be dangerous....might even kill you if you hold out, but you won't...you will be my fighter....Cathiss' plaything...you will be all we want until the day you die!" |

Allegro and Sita came to stand either side of Goldeneyes, Sita laid her hand gently against the Golden Elf's arm. "Settle." She said gently as if sensing his sudden angst. She had helped him manage his need for Blaze in the more fraught times of his desire, something Prince Aigiris did not have. Allegro had helped him when he had almost violent moments, he too laid a hand on Goldeneyes shoulder. "You need a clear head for this old friend....be objective you do not know what we might find, I need you clear in battle not clouded!" Goldeneyes took a breath and then another and tried to settle himself as his friends asked. "It is hard....he is so close now.....he has waited for us for so long.....think of what Cathiss and Luc may have done to him." Sita looked to Allegro, she knew what had likely been done and at the first opportunity, Cathiss was not known for his patience...look at what he had done to Goldeneyes in the beginning. |

Talanis had pulled on his light armour and picked up his blade and Luc watched silently. He knew that the Pyromancer was very bitter over the supposed contract between Cathiss and Iron Claw which had seen him sold by the Wolvian for provisions for his new army. Luc had also spun lies about Goldeneyes fidelity to his lover...ensuring that pain and jealousy filled Talanis' heart for the elf. "Are you ready to kill those that oppose us?" He asked the Pyromancer. Talanis did not use words, he merely nodded. Luc smiled. "Good Tal.....you are powerful....nothing can stand against you.....no foe at all." He leaned forward and embraced the one he so desperately desired, placing a light kiss on his lips. "Your enemies will come and meet their doom in a onslaught of fire!" Talanis said breaking away from Luc and moving out to the courtyard. Edited by Talan, Dec 11 2014, 05:53 AM.

The expected resistance was not there, in fact as they were disembarking on an unpopulated beach near to the port town this was not entirely surprising, it was unlikely that the port town held a military capable of facing the numerous paddle-ships and their passengers. In startling organisation they got off the ships via the long ramps extending from opening in the side of the hulls. Elroug stalked forward, wearing little armour and only the claws that gave him his arena name, Chay-Sa to his side, Goldeneyes and the rest following along behind. It was a shame they'd lost Ravenette, he'd explained the nature of the mission to her and the nature of the person they sought to rescue, but the mention of a Pyromancer had been enough for her, with regrets she'd left them. He wasn't surprised, the woman was a vampire, one with a dual personality no less, and her night-time self had no desire to let her daytimes self realise her own curse, due to the help she had been in many ways, Elroug had let it slide and aided her in the deceit of herself. There'd been a few close calls when someone had said something they shouldn't have, but it was always easily explained. Still, with Ravenette's help a vast number of the sailors and the warriors were trained in a variety of combat styles, the woman seemed a natural teacher, and whilst some had disliked that she was a vampire her skill was still respected. Elroug sniffed the air, Chay-Sa merely pointed, her spirit sense laying out a direct path for them to where Blaze was kept. Elroug would suspect this was too easy, if it hadn't been for his observation of those affected by the pyromantic lure, they lost reason, even Goldeneyes still possessed some lingering pull for Blaze, although he knew that was just as much real love than any magickal affect. "Come, we delay none, it has been too long as it is!" The Wolvian King spoke and thus they headed towards one of Cathiss's few remaining holdings that they knew held their lost soul. |

Talanis stood in the courtyard and just behind him stood Lucion watching the gate most intently. He knew he had done enough to make Talanis hate the Wolvian, and to feel nothing but pain and jealousy in his heart for the Golden Elf. What remained to be seen was how the Pyromancer reacted when they came through those gates. He was nothing like the boy stolen from the docks of Kentaru over a year past, he was lean and hard, a close cropped stubble about his jaw, his demeanour was anything but the warm hearted lad that the inhabitants of the Annexe had known. Talanis was a killer now, he liked to kill...there had been a look of almost ecstasy about him when he had finished off Cathiss, whose mouldering corpse lay in a midden heap outside the compound. Lucion had wished that he had seen such a look of ecstasy on his face as they had shared each other, but Talanis had not allowed him anywhere near his body other than bathing him that night after murdering Cathiss. If anything Talanis' demeanour was the opposite of his Pyromantic ways, he was cold, calculating, one might even say vicious. He could hear them now coming towards the gate. "Kill them Talanis....!" He whispered. "Burn....Burn them all or we shall both suffer!" |

Elroug's force approached the building that Chay-Sa's sense told them was where Blaze was, it looked like a typical building of Cathiss's, ornate and showy, but there was also clearly a walled training yard, no guards in sight though, which was odd, very odd. He waved his hand, first the right, then the left and his troops fanned out. "Okay, be prepared, I know Cathiss's training methods well, he'll seek to make Blaze his own, make him believe all sorts of things, Lucien is no different, but generally remains quieter under his brother's command, or at least he used to. I am fully under the impression that after this long with the two of them Blaze may no longer be the one we know, I am sure he's still in there somewhere though. If we rush him, we'll die, of that I have no doubt, from Sukie's report Blaze fairly quickly burned 4 people and that was before he had any mastery over his power, now? who knows, which is why I come prepared." Elroug stated to those nearby. Another hand gesture later and several of the troops plonked down tubes, they checked the angle carefully, and then pulled a cord, several muffled 'whumps' later and a number of objects shot over the wall trailing a brown muddy looking smoke. The objects were fairly fragile cannisters filled with a gas that not only made it hard to breath, but also made it harder for a flame to exist, sapping the air that allowed a flame to survive. It was the first real test of this technology, all previous attempts being merely practice runs on non-live targets, but the gas had been put to good use putting out accidental fires back in Kentaru, so that part of it was known to work well. |

As the projectiles came over the wall with its thick brown smoke...Talanis's eyes narrowed and he backed up, pushing Luc with him. "What is this?" He growled turning to Luc. The man shook his head at the question, a sleeve coming up over his face. "I know not Talanis....trickery....a diversion!" Talanis spun back to regard the walls, his eyes turning amber his palm turned upwards, sending a column of flame upwards like a beacon. It reached so far and then became thin and died. Tal stared at it as it died and then back to the smoke. "We need to get above this!" He hissed to Luc. "Head to the walls....UP!" |

Allegro came to Iron Claw's side to make a report. "We found a body my lord....in a rubbish pile on the far side of the wall." What he found had turned his stomach somewhat, especially when he managed to make out some features. "It was burned my lord.....but just barely recognisable.....it was Cathiss......he is dead!" |

Goldeneyes stood tense and anxious as he listened to his comrades. Cathiss was dead......burned....did not take a seer to know what or who did that. So who was left in there....Blaze and Lucion.....were they lovers? He felt his stomach knot and he felt queasy at the thought of his beloved Blaze pleasured in the arms of his enemy. Lucion had viley abused the elf as much as Cathiss had.....he had reason enough to hate him equally as much. "We have to go in!" He roared. "Now! I will not leave him a moment longer in there under whatever vile corruptions they have placed upon him!" He had waited so long for this moment....to see Blaze again.....his beloved one.....so innocent and gentle the last time they had been together in the Annexe only to have their time stolen and that innocence likely destroyed. "IRON CLAW.........NOW!" |

Talanis scrambled up the stone steps onto the walkway that surrounded the courtyard, below him the brown smoke lingered. He saw Luc stagger up the last step and fall against the wall gasping. He heard voices outside the compound and he thought he was hearing things, but the voice of his once lover was unmistakable as were the words he yelled. Iron Claw was here! His eyes swung to Luke in angered confusion. "They are here.....they are outside.....Why now!" Luc looked to the Pyromancer....his mind working fast. "They come to take you and sell you off again.....you are a valuable thing Talanis.....they seek to plunder you and probably sell you to that Prince.....further coin to fill their coffers!" Tal turned his head back towards the voices. "I am no commodity to barter off again! No-one will do that to me again ever!" A ball of fire appeared between his palms. "Let them try!" |

The fireball struck the ground not far from where Allegro was standing, the dark haired elf had leapt to one side as he had seen the fiery missile coming towards them. "Bloody Underworlde!" He growled. "Was that from a catapault or from him?" Goldeneyes looked upwards but still caught no sight of Blaze. "Smart boy!"He said softly. He turned to Iron Claw, his king. "He has made sure he has gotten above the smoke....he is on the wall. You must admit he has become somewhat of a soldier!" There was a hint of admiration and longing in the elf's voice. He was becoming desperate to see Blaze, to feel him in his arms again. "He has the advantage Iron Claw....he has the higher ground." |

Talanis stood with his back against the cold stone of the wall that ran round the training yard. He had released the ball in no particular direction, more from confused frustration than malicious intent. Luc came to stand infront of him, Talanis' head cradled between his hands. "They want you!" He hissed. "After all this time why have they come....think about it Talanis...your worth as a weapon is beyond measure...you are handsome....virile....vital....there are those that would pay greatly for you on many levels...to have you as a weapon....to possess you as a lover!" He felt Tal tense beneath his hold. "Who wanted to possess you in such a way....Prince Aigiris is who! Iron Claw seeks further advancement for his cause....I am sure Prince Aigiris was willing to pay handsomely for possession of you!" Talanis' eyes were amber and full of anger, all trace of their normal emerald green was to be seen. "NO!" He shouted. "I will not be a slave again!" He grew hot and Lucion had to let him go. "Direct your anger at them Tal.....at those that would rip you from me!" He pointed to the troops below. |

"Not for long, but I will admit that I'm concerned at his attack on us, not surprised though." Elroug was more than prepared for what he expected from any being capable of wielding fire, another wave of his hand and a couple of other soilders ran up, one with a curious contraption on his back, the second soldier following close behind. Once the first was in position the second pulled a lever, rapidly aimed and then pulled a cord, a net flung out at high speed and spread out heading towards the rogue pyromancer. What Talanis may not have been expecting was that the net had been treated in a fire-proof fluid, it would be of limited effect depending upon how much heat was applied to it, but it stood a chance of working. |

As he made ready to make his attack, he was so focussed on his anger that he was not prepared for the net. It tangled about his lithe form and felled him to the the stone floor heavily. The more he struggled the more tangled he become. He could not burn his way through the rope either, it smelled funny and prevented him for gaining any real heat. Luc backed up and stared at the felled Pyro. What could he do? "Talanis....stop struggling!" He hissed. "I will try to untangle you!" |

Talanis stilled himself as Luc started to pull at the net to free his Pyromancer. It smelled most odd, and he could tell that Tal was not impressed by it. He knew that they did not have long, the army outside would overwhelm the gate soon enough and be inside and then they would try to take Talanis away. The thought of that was more than he could bear to think about...how could he live without him now? He would rather see Talanis dead than in the hands of anyone else. The net was slowly starting to come free and he glanced nervously to the roof where one lone crossbow man was laid. Only Luc knew he was up there, he was a contingency plan, but one that was looking more like a reality with every growing moment. He had orders if the building was overrun and Luc was taken, one bolt was to be put through Talanis' heart, a quick death. Let Iron Claw see that! "Free me Luc...get me out of this!" Tal growled. "I will not be taken like a netted and trapped beast by them!" |

Once the net was seen as successful several more soldiers ran up and threw climbing ropes, lightly armoured they made short work of the wall that wasn't really designed to keep attackers out, it was more decorative than anything else. Elroug and several of the others the followed shortly after, Elroug choosing to use his claws instead of the rope, the hardened claws biting easily into the stone and his muscles being more than enough to help him scale the wall. The first wave of soldiers reached the top of the wall and drew retracted bows that quickly sprung into a firing position, their lines becoming taught as they readied arrows and skimmed the area for dangers. Immediately visible was Lucien struggling with the net over Blaze, both at this point too far away and now back into the brownish murk that comprised of the gas thrown over earlier, that same murky brown fog also made the lone crossbowman invisible to the archers. Elroug reached the top after, followed by Allegro, Goldeneyes and Chay-Sa, the others remaining below, although Sita strained in self-control herself, she was there to aid with injuries, not to get involved in the fight, if there was one. Chay-Sa's accute senses did now miss the crossbowman however, she sensed the life around her, Blaze's being bright and clear, Lucien's next to him, a darkness within his spirit quite clear, and there, high up a lone life force, there were others inside the building, but they were mostly different, the forces of those destined to servitude (or at least so they believed), this one was one of a warrior, she narrowed her eyes and then grinned. ~Talanis...Talanis, see this one on your keeper's roof, see where he aims, know what is in his heart...~ SHe knew Talanis was too powerful now to manipulate, the flame of his spirit was strong, and his mind determined, but she could point out the truth to him quite easily, and that would give them valuable extra time, Spiritalk came with a hefty amount of undenible truth, it's how the magick worked and thus irrelevant of what Lucien had told Talanis, this he would believe...which in turn would conflict with what he had been lead to believe. "I've done what I can for now Agraa, it would buy us more time that simply killing the bowman outright" She said to Elroug, he nodded then gave orders for the crossbowman to be targeted and incapacitated as soon as the gas cloud cleared enough to do so. |
