| Welcome to A Worlde Apart. We hope you enjoy your visit. By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time. The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return. He had been walking the marketplace in Kentaru with Sita, Goldeneyes and Bull, free of the Annexe able to wander and look without free of punishment. The sights had been wondrous, and then Bull had said he wanted to show him something down one of the side streets. Alarm bells should have rung in his mind, but he trusted Bull he was one of them, a brother of the Arena. Sita and Goldeneyes were occupied looking at a market stall, he had turned down a side road and it happened, something sharp caught him in the side, piercing his shirt, another in his neck. His hands scrabbled to pull then free, but the worlde was starting to turn dark about him and his legs failed to hold him up. He went to call for help, but he felt Bull's hand smother his mouth, he struck out, someone swore.....he heard Sita scream.....a flash of gold.....then nothing. When he did wake again it was to a swaying motion, ship he thought, he was in a cage, made of metal, his neck felt heavy as did his wrists, he was manacled and collared in Iron no doubt in an attempt to suppress his fire, fools...didn't they know he could push through Iron now. He did that back at the arena some time ago, he had been training to use his Pyromancy under Iron Claw's guidance and he was getting good at it. Something was wrong though apart from the pounding head ache....he no longer felt the heat that normally coursed in his veins.....he could not feel his fire, his breathing quickened, this was not right...no drug could do this to him. A figure melted out of the darkness of the hold and sat on a stool not too far from where the cage was bolted. The man was heavily built, blonde hair, cold grey eyes, his voice was equally as cold and hard. "So you are awake Blaze.....thought I might have given you too much....Madrow was not precise about the dose of sleeping drug....I have gone to much trouble to procure you Pyromancer." The fighter Blaze, who was also known as Talanis, regarded the man and then looked away. "I don't know you!" The man smiled then, there was no warmth in that smile, but he seemed genuinely please that Blaze did not know him. "My Name is Lucion...I am Cathiss' half brother....you know Cathiss don't you slave....because you belong to him, out of all of them there all he wanted was you. You are a handsome thing to be sure, but Cat has it really bad for you, gave up everything, didn't care about the others, not even Goldeneyes...all he wanted was you!" Blaze was silent, he knew why Cathiss wanted him so badly, a side effect of his own power had driven the Slave Owner to the darkest of his nature, the desire to possess, to break, and the thing he wanted to do that to.....was Blaze. "Now me Slave." Lucion continued. "I have no desire for your body or your soul....I want to tame your fire to serve us....you will not find me as easy a target as Cathiss...I believe in punishment if you defy my command....I will torture you....I will drug you....I will make your life a living Underworlde until you obey me without question....you will do as I order you Blaze." He grinned as he stood up. "If you are wondering why you cannot summon your fire....another little concoction of Madrow's.....he found the thing to suppress a Pyromancer, and I will use it until you are broken to my will. Madrow taught me how much to dose you....it will be dangerous....might even kill you if you hold out, but you won't...you will be my fighter....Cathiss' plaything...you will be all we want until the day you die!" |

Her voice in his head....remembered, disliked, but his eyes turned to the roof and he made out the silhouette of the crossbow man, his weapon pointing directly at him, at his chest to be more precise. Why? His eyes swung back wounded to Lucion, who too had followed his gaze upwards, and now looked distinctly edgy. "What is he doing there pointing that weapon at me?" Tal growled. "For all your words of loyalty and love do you seek me dead?" Luc pulled the net free, he was shaking somewhat as the Pyro rose. There was a long pain scream and the man of the roof flared to bright orange flame, the cloud holding no more sway in the Pyro's anger and mistrust of all about him. "Talanis...I would never see you hurt....but if I fell I did not want to see you enslaved, surely an arrow is preferable to a life of servitude without me at your side!" The Pyromancer pushed him away and backed up from Luc away from the sounds of soldiers and his once comrades. "Liars.....every last one of you!" He spat. "Betrayers...who speak of freedom yet would chain me down!" Luc held out his hands beseechingly to Talanis, seeing him back away further. "No...never....I have helped you...I gave you Cathiss.....I gave you back yourself....please Tal.....come to me!" A lone figure landed lightly in the courtyard like a cat and stood across from the pair, his golden eyes taking in the situation, his lip curled in disdain at Lucion's pleas. "What lies has this brute spun you Blaze? Do not go to him my beloved....I have come for you!" Goldeneyes said firmly. "I blamed myself day in and day out for all the time you have been gone...I should have been faster that evil day...I should have paid more attention...I should have been able to save you!" Talanis' head swung in the direction of that voice, a wealth of painful emotions rising in his chest. He could just make the Golden Elf out through the dissipating smoke. "Luc told me...told me what you were doing....bedding your way through Kentaru....glad to be free of your piece of Uman rough....earning coin and powerful friends in your lustful acts...you did not come....NO-ONE CAME!" Talanis screamed. |

"Goldeneyes has been doing naught of the sort Blaze, he's spent the last several months raging at me for not moving faster, I've been doing my best to keep him from wandering off into who knows where in a futile search for you. Cathiss destroyed the port at Kentaru and all the ships, we had no way of tracking you, none at all. I have spent the last several months rebuilding Kentaru, it's dockyard and the ships required to both find where you'd gone and come to rescue you." Elroug said approaching the scene standing next to Goldeneyes, Chay-Sa stand back, her gaze fixed upon Lucien. "Blaze....Talanis, we have come to bring you home." He continued, not being sure of what to say at this point. |

Across the courtyard now next to Goldeneyes he saw Iron Claw, his breath quickened with anger and his head hurt, his eyes hurt, blinded by rage that was building inside him. "You would say that Liar....even if Goldeneyes is innocent then you are not! I have seen the evidence of what you did!" He spat. Luc took a nervous step towards Talan and spoke into his ear. "Yes Tal....Iron Claw sold you...you saw the contract with your own eyes!" He felt the young man tense, the heat rolling off of him was building in intensity, like a stoked fire. Talan's eyes were the deepest amber now, the fire reaching such a fervour and pitch in it's host, such a temperature that would have killed any normal being. "You sold me to Cathiss.....I saw the contract....I was worth six months food and supplies for your fledgling army, you sold me as if I was nothing more than a dangerous beast you wanted rid of!" He stared at the Wolvian with undisguised hatred. "For all your speak of freedom you sold me off like a piece of chattel that you owned!" The release of the fireball was so quick but it was Goldeneyes that reacted, almost as if he sensed the fire, in a way he did as the heat rose in Blaze so he felt it inside himself. "NO!" He screamed throwing himself in its path in front of the Wolvian...his king. The fire struck the elf with deadly force, knocking him sideways, though he did not catch alight. The fire haloed him, was being absorbed by him as he fell to his hands and knees at Elroug's side. His eyes turned to the colour of molten copper as they had the night Blaze had saved him from the poison. His normally pale skin flushed a deep pink and even his hair took on a fiery hue. Luc backed away his mouth almost on his chest, but it was Talanis that fell to his knees in shock and tears started to form in his eyes. "Goldeneyes!" He sobbed. "Goldeneyes." |

"Goldeneyes! are you okay?" Elroug said as the fireball intended for him vanished into the golden elf, the absorbtion so complete that Elroug barely felt the heat himself. His paw landed on Goldeneye's shoulder, the warmth already dwindling back to the normal temperature of any person. The Wolvian looked at Blaze, his temper even, he knew the outburst was not the boy's fault. "Blaze, you are not and have never been mine to sell, nor would I ever attempt to sell anyone, people are not objects to be owned, sold or purchased. Think back on what you know of me, do you truly think I am that kind of person? It was for you that I took command of the Arena, for you that I denied Cathiss access to the same arena and finally for all of us that I denied him entirely." He walked around Goldeneyes, he would not cower behind the elf he now called friend. "Furthermore it was for you that I am here now, if I sold you, why come back? I seek to bring you home, nothing more." |

Pained eyes turned up to the Wolvian, shimmering between gold and green. "You have come to take me again to give me to Prince Aigiris.....Luc told me. You need more resources and have come to give me to him!" He half sobbed. "He showed me a contract.....he showed me it.....I hurt so much, I felt lost ....abandoned....I gave up all hope." He looked away not meeting the look of Iron Claw who towered over him. "Cathiss hurt me day after day.....but I fought hoping you would come....but no-one did!" Goldeneyes rose unsteadily and come to stand by his king. "My Blaze.....I would be here now......let this go love.....come back to me!" He said passionately. Luc glared at the elf with undisguised hatred. "He is mine.....I gave him back himself....you have no claim on him......HE IS MINE!" |

"Oh shut up!" Elroug said and his metal covered fist flew towards Luc's face. "I need no more than what I have already taken from Prince Aigiris, he is a broken man, he desire for you has driven him so far over the edge of sanity that his father has had to disown him, he is a prince no more. However Kentaru is now allied with his father's lands in exchange for the resources we can provide them, the fastest and most powerful fleet to have ever existed, all thanks to the need to find you. I wrote, nor signed any contract, instead I worked, battled, planned, strategised, strained, trained, commanded did everything that was within my power to track you down and bring you home, not to sell you off again, but to ensure that no person under my ruling is ever bought or sold again. Slavery is abolished in Kentaru and it's surrounding lands, the Lords and Barons who help me rule seek the same and even now battle against other rulers of other lands to ensure the same. I seek your assistance to purge this whole world of all such practices Talanis." Elroug said, using the boy's true name, for that is who he was, not some name given by another man. |

Luc staggered back and fell knocked clean out by the punch. Goldeneyes kneeled down next to the one he loved not caring if he was attacked or rejected. "Love......look at me!" He said quietly. Slowly Talanis's head turned to look at the elf, who reached out to touched his stubbled cheek. "Come home with us....come home with me......I will look after you until you feel safe, though by the looks of your power you don't need it." He whispered. "Come and see Kentaru.....share with us....help us protect the vulnerable." Talanis shuffled closer to lay his head against Goldeneyes' shoulder and he wept. "I have done terrible things.....I have killed people!" He sobbed. |

Goldeneyes stroked Talanis' short hair and made soft soothing noises. "You did what you had to do.....we have all done it!" The elf tried to calm him. Tal shook his head, still sobbing. "I killed Cathiss.....burned him up! I killed anyone Luc pointed at and I liked it, I loved it....the power and thrill of it!" Goldeneyes looked to Elroug and shook his head helplessly, Luc and Cathiss had done a real job on Blaze, twisted him from the most sweetest of people, innocent...to this. |

Allegro was already getting his men to go through the house to firstly liberate any slaves and secondly make an assessment to the wealth there for appropriation to the Kentaru coffers. It was unlikely they would set sail tonight so he also made sure there was accommodation for all the officers and men on shore. He reported to Elroug who was still in the courtyard with Blaze and Goldeneyes. "The house is secure, there are no guards, not one other than the one on the roof that met a fiery end." He said quietly. "Confirmation is that the body found outside was that of Cathiss....Llewellyn identified him. Do you want the Physician to look Blaze over?" |

Goldeneyes was here, really here, he could smell that strange summery smell that was his as he huddled close to him. Yet there was that underlying current in Talanis' mind fed to him over the many months about the elf's infidelity and despite being firmly told it was not true it festered in the darker recesses. He felt the fire rise he was getting hot but Goldeneyes did not pull away nor did he flinch. Instead he continued to whisper softly and soothingly to him and hold him. Talanis was conflicted, he still felt Cathiss' affections, Luc's obsessive need, that felt normal...it had been his life for well over a year. Yet here was Goldeneyes, his beautiful Goldeneyes, the man he had fought with, argued with, loathed and then finally loved when he had the courage to understand and admit it. "Is it just my magick that affects you....like them?" He said pulling back from the warmth of Goldeneyes hold. "Is your love real?" Goldeneyes fiercely glared at him, one momentary glance to Iron Claw then back to him. "From the moment I first laid eyes on you.....ask my King....he knows the truth of it and suffered the daily arguments with me in your absence!" He snapped. "I killed Bull for his part in your abduction....I was laid up with a serious wound from that fight, but I tried to leave and find you, the wound kept opening, in the end Llewellyn had me sedated for nearly a month on and off until it healed. Then I was on at Elroug constantly, we argued day in and day out as he tried to reason with me!" The Golden Elf gazed upon the one he loved. "You ask if I love you? Yes Blaze I love you....to distraction......my life would end without you!" |

Llewellyn came to stand with Allegro and Elroug and watched the pair knelt on the ground with some scrutiny. "How does he seem?" The Physician asked Elroug softly. He had worked with Blaze in the Annexe to try and help him learn to control his gift, but the boy had been unfocused and more interested in anything other than studying. He had needed discipline and Elroug had been it. He knew what Cathiss had likely done to him and he could check for physical injury easily enough......but what concerned him was the mind games Lucion had likely played with Blaze.....the lasting damage of those were not so easily fixed. The sort of discipline Luc instilled was not what the boy had needed.....but it was what he had received for the last year. It was almost Yuletide and they would likely be spending it here or at sea. Llewellyn had examine the charred body found outside the gates....definitely the work of a Pyro and it was identified as Cathiss. It had chilled the physician to the core to think Blaze capable of such.....but the boy was a Pyromancer and Pyros inevitably killed....most of the time because they liked it....enjoyed it even. |

Goldeneyes just sat and stared into Blaze's green and gold eyes, thankful that he was safe. He glanced to where the others stood in a huddle talking together about Blaze he guessed. "I am going to take him inside." He gestured to Blaze. "We need some time to talk privately and not be the subject of other discussions." He said tersely, as he rose holding out a hand to his lover. He looked back to Blaze. "Is there a room we can go to, where you can rest and we can talk Blaze?" Talanis nodded, he did not correct Goldeneyes in using his old name, he had decided he was the only one that could refer to him by that moniker. "Yes....There is the room I took recently.....we can be alone there." He said softly. His eyes shimmered now with amber highlights as he regarded Elroug, Allegro and Llewellyn...almost challenging them to stop them. That gaze finally fell upon the unconscious Luc and the amber took a more deeper glow. He wanted to burn Luc like he had burned Cathiss for his betrayal....but Luc had given him his power and his name back, for that he would let him live....for now. Currently he was more interested in Goldeneyes, something inside him yearned for the Golden Elf, but Luc's insinuations of Goldeneyes' infidelity nagged at him. It was a tug of war, one that conflicted him. |

Elroug watched the pair, what had happened had saved his life, if it had not been for what-ever blessing Goldeneyes had then he'd have been burnt to a cinder, and yet they were saved in more way than one. What-ever connection was held between the Uman and the Elf was strong enough to break through the conditioning that Lucien had placed upon the boy. "Go, talk, we have plenty of time." He said to them both. Elroug then turned to Allegro. "I want to speak with all the people here, find out where their loyalties lay, I suspect they were mostly here through fear, if so offer them a place in the kingdom of Kentaru, otherwise release them. Llewellyn, know what Cathiss and Luc were like I suspect a few of the people here may need medical attention in some way or another." After issuing those orders Elroug himself examined the walls and the buildings, wondering if the estate would be of any value. |

Talanis led Goldeneyes into the room he had been occupying in the house, Cathiss' old room, the Golden Elf raised an eye brown at the luxury Talan had been living in. "Did you take this room after you killed him?" He asked softly. Talanis had seated himself in a chair not far from the fireplace, which was dark, but laid with logs and coal, it flared suddenly to life, startling Goldeneyes. "I took it after I killed him, but spent time in here being abused constantly from the moment I arrived until before I killed him." The Pyromancer replied quietly, staring at the flames and not meeting his once lover's eyes. Goldeneyes sat opposite Talanis and spoke no words but listened. "He had me held down for the first dozen times until I learned to submit, I did not want to experience such in that manner but it was what it was....no-one came to save me, no-one liberated me from his attentions, so I gave in, I learned to accept what he wanted and made it easier for myself." Goldeneyes knew from experience what Blaze had gone through, he himself had been the focus of Cathiss' attentions for a long time. "I wanted to come for you." The elf said gently. "But the ships had been destroyed, I was laid up for nearly two months after you were taken, the wound inflicted by Bull was deep and took a long while to heal, not helped by me trying to leave to find you every few moments....I was the bane of Llewellyn's life!" He sat back in the chair to rest and regard Blaze, he had changed, the boy he had known had become hard, almost unyielding, there was nothing soft about the person before him, none of the playfulness there had been in the Annexe. He had lost weight, become lean and dangerous, his body tense and battle ready, there was a short neat beard about his face. "I am truly sorry for what they have done to you Blaze.....tell me about Lucion, you have spoke of Cathiss.....tell me about him." Talanis' eyes flared at that name.....his saviour, his betrayer. "Lucion is complicated." He said tersely. That took Goldeneyes back a moment, he had not expected such a short pointed answer. "Complicated because you were with him and liked him?" He probed, fearing what the answer may be. A cool smile came to Talanis' lips as he saw the angst in the elf's face. "I did not let him touch me.....if that is what worries you....though if you had not come and rescued me....who knows?" It was a cat toying with a mouse, he had never had any intentions of bedding with Luc, but who knows what Goldeneyes had been doing despite his vehement protestions of celibacy. Llewellyn moved through the house tending anyone that had injuries which happened to be relatively few. Obviously Cathiss felt that he had too few slaves here to be hurting them too badly. He was concerned though, the reunion between Goldeneyes and Talanis had been far too easy, far too quick and it concerned him how Talanis had switched from accusations to acceptance in so short a time. He found Elroug outside inspecting the holding and he walked beside him as he did and made his report. "There were not many injured and they have all been dealt with but it is not them I am concerned about." He said as he walked. "I do not think that we can fully trust Talanis yet....his acceptance was too quick Elroug, I think his state of mind is not as stable as he portrays and the only one that can give us insight into that is Luc....will you speak with him? I need to know what he has been using on Tal, how much, when he managed to burn it off. How it left him?" He took a breath. "Was it wise to let Goldeneyes and him be alone together, one moment he is accusing the elf of infidelty and betrayal, the next a receptive lover.....something is not right. Then there is the elf himself.....what was that in the yard.....by all rights you should be dead.....how did he do that?" Edited by Talan, Dec 31 2014, 10:57 AM.
