| Welcome to A Worlde Apart. We hope you enjoy your visit. By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time. The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return. OOC: This Historical thread continues from http://s13.zetaboards.com/A_Worlde_Apart/topic/7249607/6/ Elroug stood at the docks looking out upon the fleet of paddle-ships, there was 5 heading out now, they'd received a report of another slaver route and the ships were going to investigate. Sita was walking along, as always a smile on her face, her belly rounded. Elroug was astounded how quickly Talanis's seed had brought forth this miracle, the boy had done well given how long he'd been away, the look on his face when he first cast eyes upon Kentaru has been quite comical, though indeed the place was barely recognizable from what it was, a small port town turned into a huge industrial city. It had become a major trade center, ships and land carts flowing in an out constantly. Elroug had even been surprised to see that a local Wolvian clan had come to trade what little they were able to, mostly they seemed curious about him, a Wolvian ruler of an entire city made up now of many races, it had previously been only Umans. Crime had been virtually eliminated, multiple religions were welcomed, and inventors and tinkerers found not only a home, but funding towards their efforts. Sita approached Elroug. "Good day Sire." she said, a lilt of cheekyness in her voice, as there often was. "Good day Sita, you look well today, " trust that all is going well with your pregnancy?" "Yes Sire, the little one is a mighty kicker do you want to feel, it's kicking now?" Elroug placed a large paw on her belly, the size of it almost engulfing the mound and indeed he felt a few kicks, they seemed weak to him, but he guessed that Sita might feel them more keenly. "What bring you to the docks Sire?" "I am awaiting an emissary from an elven people, they claim to know Goldeneyes and I've been putting them off, decided it was finally time to accept their visit." The Emmissary of Setirion Jarshen stood aboard the Elven sailing craft Mirellan and regarded the city before him with some disdain. As with most of his kind the Golden Elf greatly disliked anything and anyone outside of his own culture and people and coming here to find and bring back his master's son was not high on his list of preferred jobs. Cataan Dorshair smoothed his long golden robes and prepared to disembark as the ship pulled up along side the harbour, he could see a large white Wolvian which had to be the new authority in Kentaru come to greet him. Next to him stood a Uman girl, her belly round with child and her face bright and curious at the sight of the graceful and impressive ship. He signalled to his retinue which readied themselves to follow behind him, they carried small gifts for this new king in the hope that finding his Lord's son would be made easier with his support. The gangplank was lowered and he stepped off to meet his host. He merely tilted his head to the large Wolvian, ignoring the girl, and then spoke. "I take it you are King Elroug, the authority of Kentaru?" He said smoothly. "I am Cataan, Emmissary of my Lord Jarshen, I am here to seek his son.....Raellin, I understand that to you he is known as Goldeneyes." That alone was insult enough, that the young man still kept that derogatory slang term for his people as a name. That would change quick enough once he was home. |

Sita placed a hand on her budgeoning belly as the baby kicked again hard as if in disapproval of this latest visitor. It had not bothered her that the tall Elf had not greeted her at all, she supposed it was only right that he greeted the King, after all that was who he was here to visit. There was something about him though, he was an Golden Elf just like Goldeneyes, the same shining blonde hair, similar golden eyes, but there was no real warmth in them like there was in their Goldeneyes. Talanis' other love had been as loving and courteous to her as Talanis himself, and was overjoyed at the announcement of the baby. He took a keen interest in her as if might be the father himself, making sure that she ate well and rested enough. Talanis often teased him about it, and Goldeneyes would become testy, and they would then make up later in the privacy of their retreat. Sita did not mind, she knew that the pair needed their release and that they loved her. She watched as the retinue of elves disembarked, carrying small wooden boxes and rolls of silk, gifts for the Kentarian King. Then she heard a name. Raellin. Goldeneyes' actual name, no-one had ever heard it before, it was a beautiful sounding word, flowing off the Elf male's tongue like music. Somewhere though.....deep in her heart she was afraid.....were they going to take him from them? |

Further along from the harbour was a secluded cove with a sandy beach, it was one of Talanis’ and Goldeneyes’ favourite places to go and be alone. It was sheltered and there was a cave, the waters were deep enough for swimming and fairly warm. This was were the pair were today, enjoying the waters and the sun and something a little more intimate. Talanis stepped from the water and Goldeneyes regarded his lover, taking in the muscled lines of him, how the water streamed from his body and how his chestnut hair laid slick against his head. There was no doubt, Talanis was the most perfect thing he had ever laid eyes on, apart from the bump in Sita’s belly, but that was different. “Get yourself over here Blaze!” He called, propping himself up on one elbow where he laid in the sand. He still used the name Blaze, but it was more a pet name, an endearment, he only ever called him Talanis when they they were in Council or he was annoyed with him. Talanis padded up the short stretch of beach and plonked himself down next to the elf, reaching out to brush a strand of golden hair back from his face. “You know Elroug is meeting that Elven delegation today don’t you?” Talanis said softly. Goldeneyes laid back in the sand and shrugged. “What of it? They are probably wanting to set up trade routes through Kentaru, I don’t need to be there!” He mused. Talanis shook his head. “They are your people Goldeneyes…..aren’t you even curious?” Swifter than a Sand Panther Goldeneyes pinned his lover to the sand, straddling him. “Oh I am curious my Blaze….just not about them…..I am curious to know how much you love me?” He purred. His eyes glinting dangerously. Talanis grinned. “If I tell you you will get big headed….then where will we be!” The Uman knew that look in the elf’s eyes, one that demanded to be sated in his desire, both physical and mental. It was very hard to say no to Goldeneyes in that mood…..he closed his eyes as he felt the first kiss…..very hard indeed! |

They laid side by side on the sand afterwards, Talanis was slightly breathless and Goldeneyes was staring up at the sky grinning. "You know I am going to do that to you for the rest of this life and again in the Afterlife." He mused. "You cannot resist my every touch!" A slow smile crept about Talanis' lips at his lover's words, true words every one of them. "We should get back to the Council Hall." He said finally. "We have a load of work to get through now that Allegro has gone to sea again and Thestro has disappeared into the shadows." Goldeneyes groaned. "We were having such a good time Talanis and you mention work!" Tal rose and shook the sand off of himself and reached for his tunic. "C'mon Goldie....we might yet catch a glimpse of this Emmissary....I have never seen another Golden Elf before, are you all so handsome?" He teased. Goldeneyes rose and brushed himself down reaching for his clothes with a scowl. "Don't get any ideas Talanis Richelon....or I might just let you go celibate for a while!" He growled softly. |

They walked back round the cove together and towards the harbour, there was a path that would take them up onto the main dock. Talanis caught sight of a magnificient vessel docked in the harbour and he nudged Goldeneyes. "Must be them." He said, but he was starting to sense that Goldeneyes was not as enthralled as he was. Way in the distance he could see the large figure of the King greeting a tall golden haired elf male, There were other elves behind the first carrying things. Goldeneyes looked towards the party on the dockside and made some non comittal noise, sounding as disinterested as he might. "Lot of fuss for a trade route." He said coolly. "Typical of them I guess." Talanis stopped and pulled him to one side. "What's eating away at you? You seem very on edge!" He said softly trying to draw whatever the issue was from Goldeneyes. Whatever it was Goldeneyes was not about to share it at the moment, Tal recognised that stubborn line in his mouth and the hardening of his normally warm eyes. "Fine....come on, if it is distressing you that much we will go straight to the offices and start work." Talanis said quietly. They started towards the road that would take them to the offices and no further towards the delegation. |

They reached the Council Hall a few minutes later and went to the room that was designated as their office, it was here that they both looked at leads into slaving routes on land and over sea. Talanis walked towards the table in the middle which had a large map on it of the known Worlde, beside it were a large stack of papers. Goldeneyes had wandered straight to the window and stared out towards the docks, his eyes fixed on the Elven ship, he had not said anything to Talanis but he recognised the ship, he remembered the day his Father had named it, he had been a child, a small child. She was named 'The Mirellen', his mother's name. He had a terrible sick feeling in the depth of his stomach of why 'The Mirellen' was here and it terrified him in ways he could not start to understand. He turned to look back to Blaze who has picked up the first parchment to read it, his brow furrowed in concentration as his eyes slid to the map to locate some spot on it. He could not express in words the contents of his heart when it came to the Pyromancer, he was truly in love with him on so many levels it was hard to understand them all. The worlde he came from was no longer the worlde he was part of....he did not even consider himself a Golden Elf any more. He felt here he fitted so completely, no-one cared what he once was.....what he had done.....he didn't want to meet the elves.....for once they knew.....they would care. He had a vague recollection of his people and what they had been like, he had only been the equivalent of a sixteen Uman when he had been captured...but it was old enough to remember. |

Cataan regarded the great Wolvian King with some slight irritation, a fleeting look on his face before it was gone. "I had hoped Raellin would be here alongside you to greet an Emmissary of his people." He said looking about. "Is he well?" The fact the young man he had been charged to find was not here did not sit well with him. Decorum dictated that Raellin be here, alongside this king, and yet he was absent. Had he fallen so far from his people's grace that he forgotten even this simple courtesy? He had heard rumours of what had happened to his Lord's son....fighting for the entertainment of outsiders.......and worse still being prostituted for their pleasure. Among his own kind if he had been caught compromised with an outsider he would have faced the Golden Council and been branded and exiled. Things like that were strictly forbidden.....tainting the bloodlines was a crime. Yet for some reason Setirion still wanted him bought back. Cataan supposed the cleansing would take place.......it was possible to absolve a criminal if you had enough money. Days in the Temple, praying and fasting and being purged of the guilty needs was not unheard of. "Might I see Raellin Lord King?" He said stonily. "If it is not an inconvenience of course." |

Finally Goldeneyes left the window and picked up another leaf of parchment and started to read into the lead, he moved to take a seat and continue his reading. Talanis looked over to where the Golden Elf sat, distracted and quiet, this was very unlike him and he would not talk about it at all. It had something to do with the arrival of the Elves, perhaps he felt a little awkward at seeing his people, after all he was the only Golden elf in Kentaru. Talanis did not know much about the Race and Goldeneyes was never eager to share any information, stating he left so young he did not really remember anything. It made him feel unhappy inside to see his lover so at odds and not be able to help ease his agitation. He knew sooner or later Iron Claw was going to send for Goldeneyes, it was inevitable, Golden Elves in town and the only one here not present to see them or act in an ambassadorial role. He came behind the chair and rested his hands lightly on Goldeneyes' shoulders, massaging them slightly, letting his heat flow and feeling it absorbed by his partner. "We'll go to the house tonight." He leaned and whispered. "We will have some dinner, check on Sita, and spend the night together." He stroked down the side of the elf's face. "I am sure that I can change this mood of yours!" Goldeneyes felt the Pyro's heat flowing through him, making him feel a little more easy, and the promise of later raised his spirit. "Tempter!" He mused. "Always." Came the confident reply from Talanis. |

Sita listened carefully as the elf spoke in the Common tongue to Iron Claw, and she knew then that she had to warn Goldeneyes what was coming. He would not want to go, not leave Talanis and her, not now. "Honoured Guest and Lord King....I must depart, I grow weary and need to rest, I offer my apologies." She turned and started to walk back with as much haste as she could towards the Council House, she had seen Goldeneyes and Talanis from a distance go in that direction, fortunately Iron Claw and the elf had not seen them. She knew that they had been at the beach that morning and knew that now they were probably going to work for a while. "I wish Allegro was here!" She muttered. "He can run faster than me!" Perhaps Goldeneyes could take a horse and ride out to their new cabin in the woodland not far from Kentaru and hole up a while. She and Talanis could cover for him, say that he was out chasing a lead up. |

Sita leaned against the doorframe to the office that Goldeneyes and Talanis occupied gasping for breath. Talanis was out of his chair immediately, guiding her to a comfortable seat, concern etched over his handsome face. "Gods Si....what are you doing?" He said as he placed a cushion behind her back to make her more comfortable. Goldeneyes rose and fetched a beaker of water for her and stood looking down at the pretty red faced girl with equal concern. When Sita finally got her breath back she stared up at Goldeneyes worriedly and then to Talanis. "They are here for Goldeneyes....the Elves....they have come to get him!" Talanis' head swung to catch the gaze of his lover, concern in his deep green and amber eyes. Why now? What did they want with him? Goldeneyes took a breath and tried to still himself, his heart was pounding, his hands shaking....he knew it....the moment he saw it was The Mirellin....he had known. "Who?" He said softly to Sita. "Who did they send?" Sita took a sip of water trying to remember the strange sounding name. "Cataan Dors....something......he is on the docks with Iron Claw even now." "Dorshair.....Cataan Dorshair....an Emmissary of the Golden Council likely sent by my family." He said quietly. The temperature in the room had started to raise and Talanis' eyes had become more amber than green now...Goldeneyes reached out to touch his arm. "Calm yourself Blaze...you don't want to make Sita faint do you?" He said firmly. Sita finished her water and rose to come and hug Goldeneyes. "Take a horse....ride out of the west gate...go to the cabin, we will cover for you, say you have gone on reconnaissance.....may be they will go away again!" She tremored. Talanis nodded. "Go.....we will meet you there soon.....you are one of us now.....you don't have to go if you don't want to." He said finally. Goldeneyes nodded, picked up his sword and reaching for a cloak hanging on a peg. "Give it two days and meet me there.....you will have to lie convincingly Iron Claw can read us all like books....he will not enjoy having to play host if they decide to wait it out!" |

Goldeneyes made his way down to the stables where he kept his own horse now, a snow white stallion he called Evanos. He saddled and bridled the animal and momentarily laid his head against the powerful animal's shoulder. "Why Now boy hmmmmm...." He inhaled the sweet warm hay scent of the horse and closed his eyes. "How did they even know I was here?" Goldeneyes had learned to ride when he was small, and it pleased him no end when he got himself a horse here, made even better by the fact Talanis could ride too. He looked to the black mare who stomped her front hoof impatiently wondering why she was not going out too. "Easy Revenge." He said to her softly. "We will see you soon enough." He led Evanos out into the tiny stable yard and mounted easy and turned the horse's head towards the west gate, the opposite direction to the docks. He looked towards the Council Building and prayed that Blaze and Sita could be convincing enough to the large Wolvian. He did not like lying to Iron Claw, but he was scared to go home....he did not want to leave Sita, the baby was due soon enough.....and as for Blaze.....surely he would die with out being with the Pyromancer. The horse broke into a trot and Goldeneyes pulled up his hood, he was saluted as he left through the west gate and onto the road to take him to the forest some miles out from the town. |

Talan sat alone in the office, Sita had gone back to their home to rest and he was left with his thoughts. He could not concentrate on his work as the sick feeling of losing Goldeneyes crawled through him. He could not have him go....not now....not after discovering his feelings and the love he felt, as well as learning that their physical love was equally as important as the spiritual. It was with this fear of loss that the temperature in the room had started to creep up, the candles the keepers had lit just before dusk flickered and flared. Darker thoughts crept into being, thoughts he had harboured whilst on Aerie. What if he killed the Elves....burned their ship? They could not take Goldeneyes then, he could destroy everyone one that came and protect what he had. His eyes flickered with that more deeper amber and golden glow as the seeds planted by Luc on the Island sprouted.....he could kill his enemies in a heartbeat, Luc said he was easily capable of such. He closed his eyes and took a breath, trying to push the thoughts away from his mind.....he was not a murderer. But a small voice inside his mind said otherwise....how many had he killed before he was taken to Kentaru....how many had he killed on Aerie? This was Goldeneyes....his beloved Goldeneyes.....part of a triumvirate in his life....he would fight for him. |

The tall Elf Lord at the harbour was becoming most irritated, he and his retinue had been standing here for several hours now and not even the basic courtesies had been offered. He glared at the Wolvian. "Is this how you treat all of your guests King Elroug? We have come in peace looking for our kin and are kept here like criminals!" He turned and flicked a hand and spoke quickly in Elvish to those behind him, they turned and filed back up the gangplank of the ship. "I have come because my Lord lost his two eldest sons on border skirmishes.....his wife shortly after...she died of a broken heart at the loss of her sons.....though she was never truly herself after losing Raellin...her youngest." He took a breath. "Raellin has to come home...he has duties to perform as my Lord's eldest son now he needs to learn the culture of his people....Raellin is a child by our lifespan.....he has no place in Kentaru......it is our right to claim him!" He said his voice raising angrily. Cataan faced off to the Wolvian. "Take me to him!" |

"I had been lead to believe your people were capable of more patience and grace Cataan?" Elroug responded, purposely not using any title, he was seen as king here and he intended to make that felt by the Golden Elf before him. "Certainly if you have come all this way then you may as well see what we have done with Kentaru, it is much beyond what it used to be, we have created works that rival the Dwarves engineering and your own fine creations I believe, the city thrives with an industry unseen before on this Worlde and my fleets are proving quite capable at taking out the slavers and pirates of the seas, I'll admit land is proving somewhat more difficult due to the various kingdoms, but halting the trade overseas is quite effective." Elroug waved a hand along the gangplank towards the central tower which was surrounded by the clear signs of multiple industries busy at work and the sounds of a city busy at work and a people content, here are there sailors could be heard singing, or other professions offering their own chorus to what-ever beat helped them work best. "Come Cataan, and bring your retinue, you will dine at the keep this evening and we shall see if we can track down your Raelin." |
