Welcome to A Worlde Apart. We hope you enjoy your visit.

By logging in you enter a Sci-Fi themed collaborative writing game in which you are invited to create a character (or 2) and exercise your imagination in conjunction with other writers to create a series of stories based upon a background that I (Dagiris) have started (Much inspired by www.worldearcane.com which is currently inactive) and that you as players and writers will expand upon and adapt over time.

The setting is a pocket universe entirely separate from our own, it exists in a Null Space where galaxies do not exist, only isolated star systems. Each star system is surrounded by a sphere which gives the sentient population within the illusion that they are in a "normal" area of space, their telescopes and sensors will see stars and galaxies beyond the confines of their own star system, but until they unlock the truth, then any attempt to travel beyond their star system will result getting lost in the Null Space, forever unable to to return.

OOC: This Historical thread continues from http://s13.zetaboards.com/A_Worlde_Apart/topic/7249607/6/

Elroug stood at the docks looking out upon the fleet of paddle-ships, there was 5 heading out now, they'd received a report of another slaver route and the ships were going to investigate.

Sita was walking along, as always a smile on her face, her belly rounded. Elroug was astounded how quickly Talanis's seed had brought forth this miracle, the boy had done well given how long he'd been away, the look on his face when he first cast eyes upon Kentaru has been quite comical, though indeed the place was barely recognizable from what it was, a small port town turned into a huge industrial city.

It had become a major trade center, ships and land carts flowing in an out constantly. Elroug had even been surprised to see that a local Wolvian clan had come to trade what little they were able to, mostly they seemed curious about him, a Wolvian ruler of an entire city made up now of many races, it had previously been only Umans.

Crime had been virtually eliminated, multiple religions were welcomed, and inventors and tinkerers found not only a home, but funding towards their efforts.

Sita approached Elroug.

"Good day Sire." she said, a lilt of cheekyness in her voice, as there often was.

"Good day Sita, you look well today, " trust that all is going well with your pregnancy?"

"Yes Sire, the little one is a mighty kicker do you want to feel, it's kicking now?"

Elroug placed a large paw on her belly, the size of it almost engulfing the mound and indeed he felt a few kicks, they seemed weak to him, but he guessed that Sita might feel them more keenly.

"What bring you to the docks Sire?"

"I am awaiting an emissary from an elven people, they claim to know Goldeneyes and I've been putting them off, decided it was finally time to accept their visit."

Cataan inwardly bristled at the indifference this Wolvian treated him with, but he kept his tongue and smiled graciously.

"I am just anxious to find my Lord's son....my primary mission you understand....as a once soldier I am sure you can identify with such at thing?"

He looked back towards his people and made a sharp gesture with his hand and they came back to stand behind him, all among them were as fair as that race could produce but none of them rivalled Goldeneyes in appearance. Those that loitered on the docks to watch whispered such things among themselves.

"I would be most honoured to see your improvements and to dine with you this evening...perhaps in your tower we might find the one we seek."He said firmly.

Raellin was making himself scarce that much was evident or he was not here and their information was wrong....whether this King was hiding the boy remained to be seen.

The time wore on for Talan but he was in no mood to go home so he kept on with his work sifting through the intelligence on land slave routes. He had heard that the King had brought the elves to the Council Hall and was to dine with them in a few hours. He might be expected to join them as a ranking officer in Elroug's Militia, but he had kept most quiet not wanting to attend an offcial function or to have to explain Goldeneyes absence.

He wished one of the others was here to talk to such as Allegro or even Thestro, he and the Half Daemon had had their differences but when it come down to it they were firm friends. The Daemon had gone silent and had not been seen for weeks, even his woman did not know what had happened to him, though there were whispers he had gone down into the Underworlde. Talk also had it he had gone into the Daemon Void to see if he might be accepted by his own kind.

Allegro had just gone back out to sea, he had been making a name for himself as an excellent strategist and Captain as well as being sorely missed by the female population of Kentaru. He had taken no single woman to be his, rather enjoying the attention of many, a stark turnabout from what he had been like in The Annexe.

Talanis laid his head on the desk and closed his eyes, another full day and he could ride out to the cabin and to Goldeneyes, Sita would follow a day after that. He had plenty of reasons to be outside of the city....it was his job and Goldeneyes to follow up leads.

The time ticked by slowly for Talanis as he sifted through more parchment, not far away he could hear the workers preparing the Hall for the dinner with the Elves. He was tired and there was a pallet behind a screen further back in the large room. He rose and went over to settle on the bed to rest for a while, trying to shut out the noise of the plates being laid and cutlery.

He wondered whether Goldeneyes had reached the cabin yet, he imagined their comfortable warm cabin, the soft glow of the lamps, the soft bed. Goldeneyes would be comfortable there until these elves left.
He could hear the workers talking brightly, excited at preparing a feast for their King and his guests. There was talk of who was coming, disappointment that Allegro was not going to be there, from the women. Talk of where Thestro might be....wondering what Goldeneyes might wear to meet his people.....would Blaze wear that armour that made him look so delicious. He smiled briefly at that, he knew just what armour they meant, Goldeneyes had saved it from the Annexe, the first dress armour that Cathiss had made him wear for the viewing at his house.

Talanis closed his eyes and turned on his side, tomorrow afternoon he would go and 'Follow up' on a lead and leave the city. If he was not here he could not lie about anything.

After a short while Talanis sat up, he knew as much as he did not want to go to this dinner....he had to. He always kept a clean tunic and the armour here in a chest, so now what was required was for him to spruce up. He gathered up his things and headed towards the Bath House in the Council Building.

On arrival the attendants greeted him warmly and showed him to a room where he might put his things and disrobe. There was an adjoining room in which there was a deep square stone pool full of fresh steaming water. He stepped in and washed himself thoroughly, soaping his hair twice and rinsing it. Once he stepped out he was beset by attendants pulling him to a table to rub him down and massage him. He just laid quietly, Goldeneyes loved the Baths and it was him that liked to do this to his lover. The attendants fussed and fawned and finally splashed some sort of faint cologne about him after a shave and he was free to get dressed.

He went back to the small dressing room and pulled on the tunic, smoothing it, before buckling in the breastplate and buckling the leg guards. He moved to slip on the wrist braces and then attached the scarlet cloak. He, brushed his hair vigorously until it shone and then viewed himself in the mirror.....the man reflected back looked every inch a General.

He nodded briefly and took a deep breath....now to brave out this meal.....get through tonight and then he could leave tomorrow to meet Goldeneyes. The walk back was enough to clear his mind and put him in the frame of it he needed to be in. As he walked into the Dining Hall he got admiring glances from the servers who grinned that they had gotten his choice right. He walked firmly to where Iron Claw stood with the Elven Emmissary.

"Good Eve my Lord King......well met Honoured Guest." He said after bowing courteously.

Cataan regarded the young man that bowed to himself and the king, his eyes taking in the cut of him. A soldier of some kind, Uman, he supposed he was good looking by their standards, most unusual eyes.....green...flecked with gold.....why was that colouring so odd? That riddle eluded him, he would recall it soon enough.

"Greetings young man." He said smoothly.

"Have you come to make some sort of report to your king?"

Talanis gave a brief smile.

"I am a General within my Lord King's Council, I can understand the confusion, I thought it appropriate to dress formally for dinner in your honour Sir."

He knew the Golden Elf was paying him with some scrutiny, he was as handsome as Goldeneyes, older, but there was something about him, something cold and distrusting. It was evident he was not happy to be among them. He felt uncomfortable under the cool gaze, almost like he was being assessed again, like he had been at the House when he had first been displayed by Cathiss for his friends and customers approval.

"My name is Talanis." He said after a moment.

"Talanis Richelon.'

Cataan continued to regard the young man who offered his name, he was naught more than a child all things considered and he was a trusted general in this Wolvian's council!

"Emmissary Doshair." He said coolly offering only his title and not the name he was known by.

He continued to levelly regard the boy, trying to work out what it was about him that triggered something in his mind. It was the eyes, definitely the eyes, he remembered it now. The golden flecks signalled Pyromancy, he made a quick gesture with his hand and stepped back away from Talanis. His people had also stopped talking and withdrew back behind their leader.

"Pyromancers are a step above Daemons in our eyes." He said sharply.

He turned to look at Elroug.

"You let this abomination loose among your people? You let it stand on your Council?" There was a tone of accusation in his words as if Elroug were somehow showing a lack of care for the people he ruled over.

"It is well known that Pyromancers are all killers.....no matter how handsome or loyal they seem to be!"

The young man before him looked bewildered at this turn of events, but his true nature was beginning to show, his eyes were slowly turning amber and the temperature was rising.

"You would do well to put him down King Elroug....like a rabid animal for that is what he will become!"

Talan felt the heat rise in retaliation, he had been working hard to control it alongside LLewellyn. This was an outright insult against him and in the back of his mind all he could hear was Luc's voice goading him to answer this slight.

The temperature was climbing in the hall and it was definitely being felt.

"One of my brothers in arms is half daemon!" He hissed.

"Really Emissary." Came a voice from behind them all.

"Insulting my best friend and my lover is not a wise move." Came the soft drawl that most recognised as Goldeneyes' complete lack of respect and derision for the recipient.

Talanis spun on his heel to stare in shock at the the Golden Elf who was not meant to be here, he was dressed in his best armour, freshly bathed and looking like a God as usual. His eyes were questioning as Goldeneyes strode forward and paused momentarily to touch his face lightly, his eyes bright with amusement.

"I will tell you later my Blaze.....for now I have some things to put straight here." He said softly.

Goldeneyes walked straight up to the bristling elf and spoke quickly in Elvish to him.

"I don't know what your purpose is here, but insulting those I love and care for is beneath our people....beneath yer dignity....I must insist you stop!" He spat.

He felt the heat in the room and turned about face and walked back to Talanis and laid his hands on the Uman's shoulders, the immunity he held, absorbing the heat radiating from his lover.

"You really have to learn to take the insults love." He whispered.

"You have been up against bigger and better than that peacock!"

He kissed Talanis lightly and turned back to face the elvish Emissary.

"Now if King Elroug permits....I would know yer business here!"

Cataan stared with undisguise distaste at the Golden Elf that stood before him, this was Raellin without a doubt, he looked so like his mother, not much of his father, but he was told to expect that. He was indeed a handsome specimen of their race, but it seemed his corruption run much deeper than had been initially hoped.

He was this Pyromancer's lover, there could be no deeper disgrace for his father, this would be a hard stain to erase from the family name, people were exiled from the City for such offences, branded and exiled, but with Raellin that would be a mute point. He had already been branded by the deceased slaver Uman....he had been forced to fight for the pleasure of others....prostituted out for their pleasure and for money, surely it had been impossible for him to fall any further from his people's grace but he had managed it!

"You are to come home Raellin." He said tersely.

"Your Father demands your presence."
