Today we’ll be going over Warriors and Berserkers that have awakened their inner powers. The days of long wait times infront of an instance waiting for a tank to show up will soon be something of the past.
You’ve probably thought of Berserkers with threat-based gear and a giant axe tanking right? Well, soon they will be able to do just that by talking to Donkan in Highwatch. He’s perfected the art of tanking with an axe and is eager to show you the ropes.

Level 65 Berserkers will be able to learn the secret arts of tanking.
Backdraft
Continuously generate threat towards enemies
within 8 meters. Furthermore, will allow Berserkers to use skills for tanking while changing some skills to be for tanking.
Ex. Unchained Anger will recover HP by consuming MP instead of the usual HP to MP converison.
Upper Slash
Can only be used when Backdraft is active.
Swing the axe upwards to generate threat. Press the skill button twice to use (like Shield Barrage). The skill will also reduce enemy endurance.
Fiery Rage
Speak to Donkan to change its effect.
When used during Backdraft the skill effect will change to greatly increasing threat levels towards enemies within 10 meters.
Assault Charge
Charge straight at an enemy with a high knockdown chance.
The Pros and Cons of a Berserker Tank
The Berserker tanks are able to tank without investing a whole lot into threat-based gear and can generate threat on par with a Lancer. The downside, however, is that they lack any party support such as Infuriate or stuns.
Therefore, while they may be good substitutes for Lancers or Warriors in entry level instances that require 5 or less players they are not the ideal tanks for raids or high tier instances.
Warrior Tank Improvements
The Warrior is the one class that can switch between roles of a DPS or a tank but sadly lacked in excelling in either due to the nature of their skills.
Well, good news is that there are some great changes coming to improve both sides of the coin.
Defensive Stance WarriorsIt was important to lessen the rejection rate of Warrior tanks for high tier instances so we’ve given them Infuriate as well. On top of that we’ve increased their max Resolve to 1500 and removed the cooldown on Cross Parry.
Furthermore, we’ve merged the two-hit nature of the Binding Sword into one so that enemies are pulled shortly after its cast. The skill will also generate threat.
Lastly, Staggering Counter will no longer be available while in Defensive Stance. To counter the decrease in immediate stuns, Reaping Slash can now be used while in Defensive Stance and will be able to stun the enemy.
To compensate for the change in Reaping Slash, Scythe will receive a 35% increase in damage.
Warriors will also be able to generate Edge during shield phases (finally).
Assault Stance WarriorsSeveral changes are coming to allow Warriors to efficiently generate Edge for explosive damage.
Poison Blade’s Noctenium effect has been changed to increase Edge by one. Edge will also continue to stack during shield phases as well. Something that was long overdue. But Edge will not be generated if it is a shield that other classes cannot damage it either (ie. invincibility phase).
Combative Strike, Rain of Blows, and Blade Draw will receive a significant boost while several crit rate glyphs will change to crit chance glyphs.
In addition to decreased cooldowns for several skills Warriors should be able to chain skills which they were unable to before. Overall the change should allow Warriors to efficiently chain skills and provide consistent damage.
To allow for easier gameplay the endurance penalty will be reduced slightly as well.
