Idomeneus and Diocles will challenge the "heroes" of Phaestus to a duel where Prince Hector shall judge their worthiness of saving. If they win, they will be permitted to leave with the Trojans but if they lose, the city and her people belong to me. |

This is the worst offer I have ever seen. If you wish to kill me and Rhysus, you will have to storm the city walls and lose thousands of your precious army in the process. We will not commit the future of our people in a duel we have no chance of winning. Either let us leave in peace, or strike us down in battle. But we will not deliver ourselves to you like lambs to be butchered. Anoas, leader of the Phaestian League. |

Perhaps a compromise between these positions? Troy has no desire to see thousands more die in this war, as Cretan stability and strength helps ensure trade flows smoothly from the Mediterranean into the Aegean. Would you both agree to single combat? It is an ancient and honorable method of deciding issues between great houses, and not so different from the offer already presented. Hector |

(In case it wasn't clear (it wasn't) he is saying Hector should act as champion for Anoas in this duel.) |

Amusing but I think not after all how would we even trust Anoas to honour the agreement as he has clearly violated his sacred oath of loyalty already. But I cannot simply bring misfortune to my new friend Prince Hector for he must also succeed in his mission to save the innocent. Therefore I submit to you my final compromise: Prince Hector can see to it that the women and children are free to leave with him in exile from Crete but let no man follow him for they have chosen to follow a traitor. |

Are you saying you plan to butcher the women and children of Phaestus if they do not leave? |

King Idomenus is offering your families a certainty that they will live, Anoas, even if your soldiers will not be allowed to depart into exile. Even when wars are fought in purely noble fashion innocents get caught in the struggle and suffer for it, and you and I both know sieges are bloody things where all occupants of the city are in mortal danger when the walls are taken. My fleet departs shortly, we will return to Troy; I implore you to put the safety of your people first, take the guarantee to save as many as you can and ensure they have a future. |

It pains me to see that you are truly a cunt, Hector of Troy. You came here to fight for us and instead you pussy out because the tyrant Idomeneus bought you dinner and sucked your cock. Alas, so be it. Leave with your tail between your legs. Our women and children will not be parted from us, they will remain here, where their homes and livelihoods are. If Idomeneus has any honor, he will not harm them. We, the men, will hold on to this city of ours. It is no dishonor to choose to fight and die for freedom. If Idomeneus wants to rule us so much, he can rule over our corpses. Anoas, leader of the Phaestian league. |

Cowardice must cloud the brain. You begged for aid to help your people retreat into exile, and the House of Ilus provided you with an opportunity; you never asked and I never offered to fight your battles for you. It is clear mistakes were made, for Troy confused your Eunuch cravenness for a wise sacrifice of honor, a last ditch attempt to spare the lives of your men. I pray your women and children do not suffer unduly from this new lunacy, and that you have enough coin in your city to pay the Boatman his due. Hector |

The rightful and true King of Crete proclaims the formal and bloody end of the pathetic Phaestian League. Treachery cannot and will not go unpunished by the gods and by their hand I shall annihilate all those who stand in the way of uniting my Kingdom. King Idomeneus |

King Idomeneus declares henceforth House Minos is bound by marriage to House Neleus and are therefore pledged to fight together against any and all who dare face the wrath of the Minotaur. |
