Phobia crept quietly around the massive tree trunks, breathing in the damp, earthy scent. The soil beneath her feet was muddy from the rain and lack of sunshine streaming down to the earth to dry it up. She glanced back behind her, noting the deep paw prints that followed her in the darkness. There was no way she couldn't miss someone else's paw prints, and no one could miss her's either. She had been here all of twenty minutes and had already lost some element of surprise. Isn't that nice?

Phobia sighed and looked drearily forward. There weren't very many places to hide either. How could she ever scare someone until they shit themselves silly if she had nowhere to keep herself away from their prying eyes? The only form of camouflage she had was her fur, and even that was silvery in some places. And of course she would have to close her eyes, them being bright red-orange with yellow around her irises.

Perhaps coming here for a scare was not such a grand idea after all....

Kazimir wandered through the dark forest. His solid ebony pelt made him a shadow among shadows, and that was how he liked it. The dark brute came across a trail of pawprints sunk deep within the mud.

He lifted his head to look around and caught sight of a tiny glimmer of silver. He immediately ducked behind a tree, hiding his dark amber eyes. When he heard the sound of pawsteps again, he opened his eyes again, sizing up the receding shadow.

He moved forward slowly, matching his steps to the shadow's in the hopes that the squelching sounds of the mud would be mistaken as the shadow's and not his, thus making him invisible. Of course, he could only hope that the shade wouldn't suspect that he was following.

Phobia didn't suspect a thing. She was the one that did the scaring, no one scared her. She hardly ever bothered to look behind her, feeling confident that no one was as sneaky as she was. No one else could hide in this place if she couldn't. So Phobia continued on her way, her head low and her mind wandering elsewhere. No one to scare, no one to scare.... why was there no one to scare? She lazily moved between massive tree trunks, after awhile not even bothering to keep her paws quiet as she slushed onward.

The dampness of the air made it difficult for her to smell anything either, and wind hardly ever made it passed the first mile of trees. The protection from the heat was nice, but she could see how a wolf could get depressed in here after awhile. The sun never touched the ground, or at least, rarely did. A tree had to fall over and die before light could reach the soil, and these ancient trees looked healthy enough for now.

She halted after a few moments, curiously looking at a root that was elevated from the ground. She.... she thought she might have heard something behind her.... but of course the female didn't look. It was probably a drop of water falling from one of the leaves up high anyway...
