Disclaimer: I do not own Negima or any other series that may appear they belong to their respective creators. The Ninth Spell From where he lay on the ground Negi could only watch the battle between Ala Rubra and Kosmo Entelekeia helplessly. He was grateful they had arrived to help, but at the same time he felt so angry with himself, at them, at their opponents. What was so hard about talking things out? Power. It was always about power wasn’t it? If you weren’t strong enough you didn’t matter, but was that any different from a schoolyard bully pushing the other kids around cause he was bigger? Letting off a soft sigh Negi pushed those thoughts away for now and began to consider what he should do now. Stay down and let Ala Rubra take care of things or do something to help out? He had no doubt they could handle Dynamis and the rest of the Lifemaker’s minions, but the Lifemaker himself? He wasn’t so sure and worse if he understood what he saw from Fate’s mind correctly the Lifemaker’s soul would just jump to a new body once the old was destroyed. That sort of being… He knew how to deal with that sort of being. “…It’s a spell you nearly killed yourself to learn all in the name of revenge." The words of a certain old demon count echoed back to him now. This wasn’t about revenge though it was about protecting those he cared for. The idea of loosing any of his students, his friends in such a way spurred his body into moving. Even if it meant dying he would give up everything to protect them, if he had too. It took him a bit, but he finally managed to stand up. Barely giving the battlefield before him more then a fleeting glance. Negi put fourth his hands and started the incantation. Golden energy began to gather into his hands forming into a black orb, ‘so far so good’ Negi thought to himself as he recited the next line. Air began to twist around him drawn by the power in his hand like a moth to a flame. Before him the battle continued on Ala Rubura keeping Kosmo Entelekeia occupied enough and visa versa no one on either side had either noticed him yet or if they had couldn’t interfere, which was fine with him. He was almost finished just one more verse to go, but his thoughts of victory were torn away as his body shuddered. He didn't know if it was from strain of casting the spell or exhaustion finally catching up to him either way he started to fall. “Nooo” he rasped out. He was almost done, he couldn’t fail here, not now, just give him the strength to last just a bit longer! It was no use though as Negi felt his legs give out from under him. However he did not fall as someone caught him up from behind. “Don’t worry, ” said the person who had come to his aid-a woman by the voice-though not one he recognized. “I’ve got you.” Her tone was so soothing Negi couldn’t help but think as he was lowered into a kneeling position. Negi wasn’t sure when his savior had gone from being behind him, to being in front of him, but there she was. A tall blonde hair woman in a golden dress, long bangs covered her eyes, a gentle smile on her face. Perhaps he was delirious but for a brief moment Negi couldn’t help but think this woman was his mother. It was then he noticed that in one hand she held the black orb he had conjured. He opened his mouth to speak, but she silences him with a quick finger to his lips. “Relax my child you have done enough, leave things to me now…” Her smile widened. “…I’ll take care of everything.” Over with the nearly reunited 3-A and their other friends, all the girls gave a start when the barrier went down. Wasting no time Setsuna and Kade hurried to free the still unconscious Asuna. “Did you do that Chisame-san?” asked Konoka. The hacker shook her head in response, “It wasn’t me.” “What do you think made the barrier go down?” asked Akira relieved though she was that it happened. “Who cares?” retorted Yuna. “We got Asuna back right?” “We should still remain on guard,” cautioned Mana. “Our enemies aren’t finished yet.” Those who knew what was going on gave various nods or murmurs of agreement, while save for Zazie those who had just arrived looked confused. “What’s the big deal? It’s just a game isn’t?” asked Fuuka. “Heh, I wish,” replied Chisame earning her only confused glances from the twins and Cheerleaders. “We have Asuna-dono!” announced Kaede as she and Setsuna returned. The ninja lied Asuna out on the ground as the group gathered around her. Ayaka then bent down and started to slap her across the face. “Wake up this minute Asuna!” “Uh Class Rep is that really…” started Konoka, but stopped seeing as Asuna was coming around, “…never mind.” Dazed Asuna blinked looking up at the faces of her classmates. “Iincou? What are you doing here?” “I could ask you the same thing,” retorted Ayaka as she with help from Setsuna pulled Asuna to her feet. “Honestly what am I going to do with you?” she gave a deliberate over dramatic sigh. Ignoring the barb-for now-Asuna asked, “Where’s Negi? Something happen to him.” Before anyone could ask how she knew what happen to Negi, a shout got their attention directing them all to Collete running up the stairs waving frantically. “You guys need to see this!” Quickly they had all gathered to the edge of the platform that overlooked the current battleground. Their attention as well as the attention of the combatants now directed at the golden figure standing on the rock. “Is… is that Negi-sensei?” breathed Ayaka, “He looks magnificent!” Ignoring her Chisame asked Collete “Did you see what happen?” The dog girl nodded, “A little-it looked like he was casting a spell, but lost control for a bit, then regained control and went all shiny like that.” “That isn’t Negi-bouzu,” announced Kaede drawing everyone’s attention. “What do you mean?” someone amongst the crowd asked. “I can’t feel Negi-bouzu’s presence anymore,” Kaede elaborated. Mana and Setsuna nodded their heads in agreement they had sensed it too. They could practically taste the overwhelming presence that was emitting from Negi’s body. Mana took over the explanation, “That may be sensei’s body, but something else is in control now.” “Something powerful,” added in Zazie her eyes fixed on the gold figure. “So you saying what? That he’s possessed?” asked Haruna. “Yes.” More then a few now among the assembled were giving their young teacher worried looks. Down below “Negi” looked across the battlefield with an impassive glance. Quartum seeing the child who had defeated him before standing up again snarled and shot forward before any of Ala Rubra could react. “Take this you brat!” shouted Quartum throwing several rather large fire balls at Negi. The attacks didn’t even get close; they exploded in mid air as if they hit an invisible wall. Quartum himself was then smacked away by an unseen force, face planting into the ground several yards away. If he hadn’t had everyone’s attention yet, he did now. “…Bouya?” said Evangeline. She had almost been ready to cast her spell that would deal with all the little puppets when she had sense the sudden rise in power from where her pupil had fallen. However when she looked into her pupil’s eyes it wasn’t her pupil staring back at her. Those eyes-it was like staring into the vast sea that stretched on forever with no trace of a harbor in sight, it weighed down upon you, dragging you deeper and deeper into it’s endless depths, till even the last trace of light at the surface was snuffed out and you were swallowed up and no more. These were the eyes of a being that could destroy them all in a moment’s notice then revive them as if nothing had happened. Yet it didn’t because it was nice enough to let them have the first move. “You feel it too Kitty?” asked Albiero landing next to her. She nodded choosing to ignore that infernal ‘nickname’ he used for her. “Yes,” she eyed the movements on the enemy line, “…and it seems were not the only ones.” “What is he? What kind of spell is that?” Quartum demanded to know having recovered from his unexpected flight. “I’m afraid I’m unfamiliar with it,” admitted Dynamis, still clutching the stump that had been his right arm, “Though he may be using some manner of telekinetic power.” It was then of all people Secundum who noticed it. “The Princess is no longer at the altar!” Which drew everyone’s attention to the girls. “Shit.” “Chisame-san watch your language!” Ayaka scolded. “Get her back there now!” ordered Dynamis. The other ten constructs moved to comply only to be intercepted by Ala Rubra however Quartum, Quintum, and Sextum managed to get through the blockade. “Not these guys again!” cursed Chisame. Most of the non-combatants were already stepping backwards in fear-pulling their clueless classmates with them-while the fighters braced themselves despite knowing they were outmatched. Golden eyes shoot them all an amused look. Apparently they had all forgotten someone. Best to remind them hmmm? Again another telekinetic attack lashes out knocking the Averruncus trio back; another more powerful attack follows striking all the fighters like a bowing ball and proceeds to immobilize them regardless if they were in the air or on the ground. “Hey I thought we were on the same side,” complained the currently upside down Rakan. He was ignored as golden eyes focused on the cloaked form of the Lifemaker. Playtime was over it would seem. “I don’t know who or what you are,” started the Lifemaker, “but this is my world my word is absolute here-” he was cut off by Negi. “-and I have created entire universes including this one,” the Lifemaker was given a flat look, “You’re over ruled.” The black orb held aloft in Negi’s hand twitched ever so slightly and that was the only warning anyone got before the Lifemaker started screaming. Everyone could only watch in silent horror as a white mist that only had the vaguest outline of a human shape is yanked out from beneath the cloak and dragged towards Negi. The Lifemaker’s screams continued even as he was pulled into the black orb. Which then shrank before blinking out of existence. Then at last there was silence. Wordlessly Negi or what was controlling his body turned around and without even giving the immobilized fighters-and the curses and promises of revenge for their master from Dynamis and his cohorts-a second thought teleported over to where the girls had gathered. More then a few of the girls jumped back when he appeared; though a few managed to hold their ground eyeing him cautiously. The sole exception was Zazie who merely stared quietly at the figure. “You have nothing to fear I shall not harm you,” he who was not Negi told them. Asuna pushed away through the crowd till she was facing him, “What did you do with Negi?” she demanded. “Nothing,” was the reply, “He is safe I have not harmed him.” “I’ll believe it when I see it,” retorted Asuna folding his arms. “When can we see him?” “At the moment you cannot,” a hand was held up to silence the resulting clamor, “He paid a price for calling upon my power: his life in exchange for the safety of all of you. To get him back something must be exchanged in return.” The group digested that for several moments before Chisame spoke, “What sort of price? And just who or what are you anyways?” “Most of you know who I am, though only a few of you realize it, but have nonetheless denied it since the very thought is impossible,” This answer only serve to confuse the group further. “Stop with the riddles and just tell us already!” demanded Asuna. “Very well,” came the reply, golden eyes closed, and then smiled as if at some personal joke, then not-Negi began to speak, “I am the Mother of all Darkness…” What? “…I am the one who has dreamed for years accounted of regaining my form…” Why did this sound familiar? “…I am Darkness Beyond Blackest Pitch, Deeper then the Deepest Night…” More then a few eyes had widened at that verse. They knew that line. “…I am the Sea of Chaos, the source of all Chaos…” It couldn’t-shouldn’t-be possible, but after witnessing the power displayed. They knew it to be true as insane as it was. “…That is how you describe me, I am…” The being before them was… “…The Lord of Nightmares.” As he finishes Negi’s eyes reopened and they were all transfixed on those golden eyes that seem to hold everything in their gaze. Though honestly most were just dumbstruck that a supposed fictional character was before them. Chisame would later swear she heard trumpets blaring in the background when she was introducing herself. Zazie bowed her head in respect something both Mana and Kaede caught. “Um…” started Makie. “How are Lina-san and her friends?” Negi-The Lord of Nightmares-smiled at that question. “They’re doing well,” she replied. “Anything else you’d like to know? Or shall we focus on the matter at hand?” she reminds them. “Name your price,” replied Asuna evenly. It didn’t matter what the price was she’d give her life up if she had too. Several of her classmates namely Ayaka, Kaede, Setsuna were thinking the same thing. The others had similar thoughts-money, finding true love, precious memories, or valued items-it didn’t matter what the price was as long as they got Negi back. “Very well,” replied L-Sama and told them her price. For several moments there was complete silence as the girls tried to process what L-Sama had just said. “Th-that’s your price!?” shouted Chisame incredulously. “What kind of price is that?” “It will amuse me,” was the reply complete with cheeky grin, which looked odd on Negi’s face. “Ah.” They all thought. That explained it. So this is what happens when an all-powerful being gets bored. “As a bonus I’ve taken care of that pesky little collapsing world problem of yours,” continued L-sama. “This world and all its people are now for all intents and purposes “real”-think of it like Pinocchio becoming a real boy, but on a much grander scale.” That left more then a few staring. She took care of it just like that? Of course given who she is it would be like making a bowl of cereal for her. “Uh… thank you?” responded Chisame. That was nice to hear one less problem for them to worry about. “I will be going now,” L-sama announced still grinning a book appeared in her hand, which she passed to Asuna. “I’ll leave you with this it will have instructions and answers to any questions you may have.” She gave them all one last smile. “Fare well.” Then in a blinding flash-which Chisame bet she did on purpose for dramatic effect-she was gone. Leaving the girls needing to take a few seconds to blink to readjust their eyesight. Now in place of the Lord of Nightmares was a golden crib. “This isn’t a joke is it?” asked Misa as they all gathered around and peered at the small figure within. The small mop of red hair made it perfectly clear to them who it was. “That’s really Negi-sensei?” “Yes,” replied more then a few of her classmates. “If she was telling the truth.” Chisame amended. “She better have.” muttered Asuna. “He’s so cute!” gushed Makie, “I want to hold him first!” “No me!” protested Ayaka, “I should be the one to have the honor to first hold Negi-senesi and cradle him lovingly in my arms!” They quickly started to argue with one another. The shouting upset Negi who began to wail. “Will you guys knock it off?” snapped Asuna. Chachamaru took the opportunity to pick Negi up and rock him gently in her arms. “Don’t worry Negi-sensei I will protect you,” she told him. The cries quieted to soft sniffles as the baby teacher looked up at her in wonder. Ignoring the sulking faces of Ayaka, Makie, and many of her other classmates Chisame exchanged looks with Asuna, “I don’t care what she said I am not changing his diapers!” End Extra: The Power of a Tsundere’s Rage or "How Chamo sacrificed himself to wake Asuna up" “I know how we can wake Asuna-aneesan!” Chamo announced. “Okay how?” Chisame asked. Instead of answering Chamo looked at her and the rest with a sad smile. “Remember me as I was: a lecherous, but loyal ermine to the end” “Chamo?” He hops off Chisame’s shoulder and gets as close as he can to the barrier. He sucks in a breath and shouts: “HEY ASUNA! YOU HAVE TILL THE COUNT OF THREE TO WAKE UP! IF YOU DON’T I’M GOING TO TEACH ANIKI ALL ABOUT HOW THE INTERNET IF FOR PORN!” “That brave insane fool.” Chisame muttered. Next to her Konoka weeps for the soon to be late ermine. Chamo began to count off. “1-2-OHSHIT!” He barely dodged the incoming Hama no Tsurugi that tore through the barrier like it was rice paper, but he didn’t get very far before Asuna’s foot came down upon him preventing any escape. Knowing this was it he shouted his last words: “I REGRET NOTHING!” In honor of Chamo Negi decided (in secret at first, but the girls’ eventually found out) to find out what porn was and research it. When the girls’ found out they had mixed feelings on the matter. On one hand Negi-sensei was finally showing interest in them! On the other hand he was becoming a pervert! However, for things I’d have to raise the rating for if I told you, when they were all finally nice and legal none of the girls’ had any complaints. Challenge: What do you think the foreshadowed 9th spell was? It can be anything from a 1-hit kill spell like Avada Kedavra to a Summon Bigger Fish spell (like Godzilla). The only requirement that should be met is "total annihilation" of the enemy. Edited by World Turtle, Sep 15 2013, 12:22 AM.

Clearly it's just a Quincy Arrow. It's not particularly destructive, but destroys souls instead of just sending them to the afterlife. |
