Yeah, I was drawing from Negima!? again there. Nothing in canon contradicts it so I thought that I may as well use it. And I thought that that would be considered an extremely odd revelation.
By the way, I've checked the word count and I'm about halfway through this chapter unless I end it early.
I'm still unsure about how much detail I should put into gaurding the tree. Probably not much and certainly less than the manga did as it's less necessary here.
The Yue trip doesn't make sense here, so I've decided to skip that and based on what's happened recently they'll be delaying the tournament to their last loop, which means that I'll be doing some event reordering. I'll probably do the cosplay convention next.
Also, as requested a while ago, this will probably be the chapter where I reveal the first love chart. But I was thinking that although the traditionl one just gave class 3A's feelings for Negi, it may be appropriate for me to throw in other relationships as well. Opinions?

Don't see any reason not to. And I remember you saying that you wanted to emphasize teamwork more than canon did, so it's thematically appropriate.

Let's Watch Nanoha Wits, magic, and hardboiled monologues. My other claims to fame.

Thanks. I just need to decide who to include then (at least for the love chart. I've got plenty more to decide about other things.)

After Anya, Negi and Chamo arrived back at the tree, they spent a few hours preventing students from approaching. Konoka’s flowers drew the students’ attention and combined with her root traps’ tripping, made it easier for them to chase the students away from the tree. Eventually Anya heard her own voice in her head, “Chisame. Negi needs a favour. You’re good with clothes and so he needs you and Konoka to help him choose some clothes for his afternoon with Nodoka. We’re planning to use the time machine later, so if there’s somewhere that you need to be, we can take you back again. They’ll meet you at the store.”
“Fine! I’ll help him get some appropriate clothes, but I thought that we we’re planning to avoid using telepathy for now!”
Anya blinked. Of course, this must be the time that we called Chisame and Konoka to help with Negi’s clothes. she thought. And soon after that, Chisame herself appeared in the distance. She slowly made her way over to one of Konoka’s flowers.
This scene is killing me!

What's this? I actually managed to type what I've written?

Negi ran over to her as Chamo sat on his shoulder. “Chisame-san,” he asked. “why did you come back to the World Tree?”
Chisame shook her head to clear it of the effect of the plant’s magical scent. “I was busy getting ready for my cosplay competition, when I heard Anya’s telepathic conversation with me again about how you needed my help for your date with Miyazaki-san.”
“But it wasn’t a date!” Negi protested.
Chisame ignored him. “I said that we shouldn’t use telepathy, and then of course, it ends up being used for something as stupid as that! It’s ridiculous! But it reminded me that you two are hopeless children by yourselves! If you’re going to protect the students from weird, freaky mind-control, you’ll need the help of someone normal. Just take me back after this! I still need to compete!”
“You came back because you wanted to help!?” gasped Negi. “You’re such a wonderful person, Chisame-san! You came to help us even though you had a competition!”
“Don’t get the wrong idea!” Chisame snapped. “I’m here to prevent further contamination of weirdness among the students and I still expect you to get me back to my competition!”
“Of course, Chisame-san!”
“Why don’t you let me help Chis-ane while you return to your post, Aniki?” asked Chamo with a grin.
“Is that all right, Chisame-san?” asked Negi.
“Sure, it’s fine.” sighed Chisame.
“All right.” Negi left for his original post as Chamo turned to Chisame.
“It’s interesting that you decided to spend extra time helping Aniki. It almost seems like you’re starting to like it.”
“Why would I like it!? It’s abnormal!”
“And yet, you do it anyway. It only makes sense that you get something out of it.”
“And what would I get out of it!?”
“Well, ermine fairies have the ability to detect a person feels affection for another. And I can tell you, that out of all the members of your class, you are one of those with the most affection for Negi. And it’s been rapidly rising.”
“That’s ridiculous! It sounds like Saotome-san’s love-reek! Even if such a ridiculous thing existed, it would mean that your calculations were wrong!”
“I can show them to you, if you’d like.” Chamo grinned as he pulled out a chart.
“Put that away!” Chisame screeched. “I don’t need anybody else realising how abnormal you are!”
(/)
The team of World Tree defenders were able to successfully keep people away from the area until the confession detectors suddenly went crazy.
“Are they doing something stupid like speed–dating?” asked Mana.
“That’s even worse than internet dating!” Chisame added.
I'll be really glad when I can initiate the actual conflict with Chao. Time travel is so headache inducing!

“And now that the speed dating session is over, it’s time to reveal how you feel about those you just met!” came an announcement as Chisame groaned.
“I’ll handle this one my way!” said Mana as she pulled out a pair of handguns and jumped into the crowd. She then activated her demon eye and rapidly shot the participants. The others’ jaws dropped.
“What are you doing!?” cried Anya.
“We’re shooting a movie, folks!” Mana called out before turning to Anya. “Don’t worry. These are my personal guns, not the ones the pactio granted me.”
“Not the point!”
“We didn’t have time to do it another way, one needs to show assertiveness and willingness to do what it takes to complete the mission.”
“We’re supposed to be protecting the students from the trees freaky mind-control powers, not engaging in mass-murder of those students, you psychopath!” Chisame cried as she gripped her head in frustration.
“Who said anything about murder?” asked Mana. “Those were tranquiliser darts.”
“...Better, but not by enough!”
The air was suddenly filled with beeping again. “Looks like you missed one.” said Negi as he looked at his device. “Can’t we do this one more peacefully?”
“Ah, Tatsumiya-san?” came a voice from behind Mana. She turned to find a familiar handsome face. “Why are you here?”
“Se...Chief Serizawa...” Mana began as she paled and her arms dropped to her sides.
“This is the guy who’s going to make a confession!” Chamo whispered urgently into Negi’s ear.
“Him!?” Negi whispered back. “But who would he...?”
“Good timing, Tatsumiya-san...” said Serizawa. “I have something to say to you today.”
“Wait!...Is he...?!” began Negi.
Anya facepalmed. “Another one falls for the psychotic boob-monsters.” she whispered.
“The truth is, I really like...”
“...Thank you senpai, I have received the message in your heart.” Mana sighed.
“Huh?” asked Serizawa before Mana lifted a gun and shot him in the forehead. Mana turned around. “There’s no need for men on my battlefield.”
“...You really are psychotic.” said Anya.
“Seriously abnormal.” added Chisame.
“Remind me not to get on her bad side.” said Haruna. “Not that masochism doesn’t have it’s good points.”
“You should see what she’s like when I don’t want to chip in for a pizza.” Setsuna said with nonchalance.

It was then that Juliet walked over to the group and said, “I’m on clean-up duty, so I’ll arrange for the bodies to get to the nurse’s office, though I’d ask you to be more gentle next time. They didn’t know that trying to make a confession would get them shot.” She sighed and pulled out a vial. “Brouillard qui masque le chemin, accorde l'asile à ceux qui sont tombés. Brume de transport.” She threw the vial into the midst of the bodies and when the resulting smoke had cleared, the bodies were gone.
“Thank you for your help, Juliet-san!” said Negi.
“I’m just performing my appointed duty, Negi-san.” said Juliet before turning to the crowd with a smile, “I hope that you enjoyed the show!”
Brouillard qui masque le chemin, accorde l'asile à ceux qui sont tombés. Brume de transport. means Fog which masks the passage, grant refuge to the fallen. Smoke of transport. Thanks to Medinoc for translation.

Phew! Finally made some progress! Itlooks like i've made it through the harder parts now!

As the sun began to set, Chisame turned to the rest of the group. “All right! We’ve guarded this stupid tree! Now take me back!”
“Don’t worry, Chisame-san,” said Negi. “We’ll have plenty of time to get to your cosplay competition.”
“What do you mean ‘we’?” asked Chisame.
“Well, we’d like to see you compete!” he replied.
“But it’s not even an official event!” cried Chisame. “Why would you be interested?!”
“We want to support you, Chisame-san,” said Negi. “You are special to us!”
Chisame turned her head away as her cheeks reddened. “Don’t just say things like that!” she said. “Just get me back so I can get there on time!”
They ducked into an empty room in a nearby building and activated the Cassiopeia once again, returning to the morning in a whirl of wind and shadow.
(/)
Chisame turned to the clock. “My competition is still hours away!” she said.”You didn’t have to take us back so far.”
“We’ve got other things to do.” Anya shrugged. “And we promised to use this to help Asuna train. We should also get some sleep.”
“We can use Eva-chan’s resort for that!” suggested Konoka as she clutched her hands in front of her chest.”
“McDowel-san?” asked Ayaka. “She has a resort?”
“Wait till you see it!” Haruna clapped her hands together and grinned. “Everyone! Let’s grab an overnight bag and meet at her cabin!”
“I guess I don’t want to look like I’ve been awake for days at the competition,” grumbled Chisame.
(/)
Ayaka starred at the resort around her. “This place is amazing!” she said. “Kotaro-kun said that McDowel-san was a mage, but I didn’t expect anything like this!”
“I’m going to spend a few days training here to make up for lost time,” said Asuna.
“A few days!?” asked Ayaka. As she raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure that it’s a good idea to use the time machine for such a big jump?”
“We won’t need to.” replied Anya. “A day here is only an hour outside.”
“So you will still make it to your equestrian show, Ayaka-san,” said Negi. “I’m looking forward to seeing it.”
“Oh, Negi-san!” cried Ayaka as she hugged him. “Thank you! That means so much to me!”
“Let go, Iinchou!” cried Asuna as she pulled the blonde girl off the fortune teller. “Keep your hands to yourself, you shotacon!”
“How dare you insinuate that my intentions are anything but pure!” cried Ayaka.
(/)
The next day, they left the resort, with the exception of Asuna and the group of Kaede, Ku Fei and Setsuna who stayed behind to help her train.
“I’ve got to go,” said Chisame. “I’ve got to be ready in time for the competition.” She turned away and headed for the dormitories.
“And I have to go to my own competition.” Ayaka added.
“Well, wait for us!” said Kotaro.
Ayaka slowly turned back towards him. “You want to watch my show?” she asked.
“I saw Natsumi-chan’s play, so it makes sense that I should see your show as well. Especially ... now that we’re partners.” Said Kotaro as he scratched the back of his head.
“And I want to support Anya’s Iinchou who has helped her so much!” added Negi.
“Oh, thank you!” said Ayaka as she enveloped the two of them in a hug. “You’re such good boys!”
Anya scowled. “All right! Let’s just get moving! Let’s not waste a jump on dawdling!”

Surprise! I told you I was still working on this!
- Quote:

They followed Chisame as she walked towards the site of her competition. It seemed as though the journey would be uneventful, when suddenly, they heard a cry of, “Negi-kun!”
They turned to see Makie running towards them.
“I made it through the next round!” she squealed. “And then I remembered that I didn’t have to rush after all! Now I can spend the rest of the day with you!”
“Okay, Makie-san.” Negi nodded. “I’m glad that you are doing so well. We were hoping to watch your competition anyway. I was going to go there after watching Chisame-san’s competition.”
“Chisame-chan has a competition?” asked Makie.
“Yes.” said Anya. “It’s for her hobby in cospl-“
Chisame covered her mouth with a hand.
Anya pulled it away from her mouth. “What was that for!?” She glared at the offending student. “Remember that I’m still the teacher! Show some respect!”
“I didn’t say that you could tell anyone else about my competition,” growled Chisame.
“Why!?” cried Anya as she threw her arms into the air. “What’s the problem!?”
“Yes, Chisame-san.” said Negi with concern. “You should be proud of you talents and happy to share them with your class. I think that your cosplaying is wonderful!”
“Oooh! A cosplay competition!? Can I join?” asked Makie.
Chisame rested her face in her palms and then threw her head back and her hands into the air. “Fine! Go ahead! Anyone else want to join at the last minute?!”
Ayaka was staring at Negi. “I think I’d like to.”
“I wasn’t being serious.” Chisame muttered to herself. She then raised her voice and said. “All right! Fine! I’ll even help you two!”
“That’s so kind of you, Chisame-san! I’m so glad that you are sharing interests with one another!” said Negi.
“Let’s just ... get to the competition.” Chisame sighed.
They headed towards the cosplay competition, Chisame grumbling to herself.
“Oh, Negi-kun!” called a familiar voice.
They turned around and Negi called out, “Hello, Makie-san!”
Makie ran over to them and said, “I forgot that I could spend some time with you after all! That’s a good thing about ...” She paused and glanced awkwardly at Ayaka.
“Ayaka knows about the time machine, Makie.” sighed Anya.
“Oh, good!” squealed Makie. “Then we can all have fun with it together!”
“I thought that we were just going to use it to make sure they could meet their commitments!” growled Chisame as she gestured at Negi and Anya. “Why is everyone so eager to accept this weirdness! Even those with magic admitted that this shouldn’t work, but no let’s just use it like a shuttle service anyway!”
“Aw, Chisame-chan! Don’t you see that time travel is really cool and fun?” asked Makie.
“No!” growled Chisame. “Now, we have to hurry to make sure we don’t have to do it again!”
“Ooh! Where are you going?” asked Makie as she leaned forward and placed a finger on her bottom lip.
“Chisame-san’s entering the cosplay competition in that building.” Negi informed her as he pointed at the building ahead.
“Don’t just blurt it out!” complained Chisame as she turned towards him.
“Ooh! That also sounds fun!” Makie cried as she balled up her fists and held them against her chest. “I’ll have to enter too!”
Ayaka frowned. “Now that you mention it, seeing as though my duties as class representative are done, it would be nice to participate in some of the other activities. I think that I’ll participate too!”
Chisame turned towards her. “You too!” Her jaw dropped. She flung her hands into the air. “Who’s next, Anya?”
Negi held his chin. “Well, I do think you could all look cute in cosplay and the pictures of Anya in cosplay do look nice.”
Anya whipped her head around and said, “Yes! I’m entering the competition too!”
Chisame lowered her head and grumbled to herself, “Well, there goes my last chance of convincing them otherwise.”

EDIT: Aaaaand Medinoc has poited out that I still have to edit one of Ayaka's lines so she doesn't decide to participate twice. Got it.

Okay. I'm at 15726 words and due to the "recent" problems, I decided that it would be better to just use Googledocs. This is what I have so far.

I promised to work on MSA and I think I finally sorted out mess I made. I added a bit to the end as well. Here's the current scene, but I fixed up some duplication and stuff from earlier.
- Quote:
-
Chisame meticulously assembled her outfit. Her work was an art and it was not something that should be rushed. She was busy making adjustments to her Biblion Roulon Rouge outfit when the others returned. She turned to face them and froze.
Ayaka was dressed as a nurse, Makie had her gym outfit on, but had added nekomimi and a tail and Anya was dressed as a witch.
Chisame narrowed her eyes. Isn’t this supposed to be a character-based cosplay competition!? She thought. These are really generic! Though adding nekomimi to the gym outfit was a good idea. And what’s with Anya dressing like a witch!? Isn’t she already kind of like a witch!?
She walked briskly up them and grabbed their hands. “Come with me! You’re doing it wrong! I’ll help you!”
“What did we do wrong!?” cried Anya.
“Firstly, why are you dressing up as yourself!?” Chisame hissed. “Dressing up as yourself ruins the point of cosplay!”
“Nobody there knows!” Anya rebutted with a whine. “I thought using my old uniform as a base would make things easier!”
“Well, this is a character-based competition, so none of your outfits work!”
“But Anya-chan could be a Hogwarts student! And Iinchou could be a nurse from some other movie!” Makie protested.
“And what about you?” asked Chisame as she raised an eyebrow.
“I am from a catgirl anime! But I’ve gone to the gym!” Makie beamed.
Chisame placed her face in her palm. “You need to go for someone recognisable.”
“That’s a bit difficult for me,” Anya complained as she folded her arms. “I didn’t have a lot of exposure to fiction. Whenever I was free, Negi would drag me off to study more spells.”
Ayaka turned and smiled at Negi. “You clearly placed the proper emphasis on education.”
Anya scowled. “They weren’t exactly approved by the curriculum.” she muttered.
“Nevermind!” Chisame shook her head. “I’ll take care of it! I’ll let you borrow some of my clothes and help you choose the best outfit.”
“You’re helping us?”asked Anya as she raised an eyebrow.
“Yes! There’s potential here and it would be annoying for it to go to waste.” She began pushing them towards the changing rooms. “If you’re going to enter, you should try to win!”
Kotaro turned to face Negi. “Do you understand any of this?”
“I know that they dress up to look cute.” replied Negi.
Kotaro shrugged. “Well, if Ayaka-neesan is happy, I won’t complain.”
Chisame rapidly redressed Makie, Ayaka and Anya. They looked down at their new outfits.
“You didn’t really fit s a Mahou Shoujo Biblion character.” Makie said to Anya.
Anya blinked. “Okay.” She was dressed in a red plug suit and her hair had been done up in pigtails.
“Now you have to practice your poses!” Chisame declared.
“Uh … Is it okay if we don’t do the pose right now?” Ayaka blushed and eld her hands together below her waist.
“The pose is very important!” Chisame shoved her finger towards Ayaka.
“But it really is a little embarrassing.” Makie joined in on the blushing.
“How can you cosplay if you get embarrassed.” Chisame’s face started to redden as well.
“Well, they are rather incredible costumes, I guess?” Kotaro asked Negi.
“Yes. They’re very cute. I don’t really know what they are though.”
“I don’t either.” Anya raised a finger. “What pose do I need to do?”
Chisame frowned. “Let’s keep this easy for you as you don’t know the character. Just say, ‘This is the unbreakable Wall of Jericho, Third Child.’ and pretend to slide a door shut in front of you.”
Anya shrugged. “Okay. It sounds weird, but I don’t know who I’m dressed as, so I guess I’ll just do it. But I can’t practice now. We have to go enter before closing time.”
“Fine.” Chisame sighed.
“Then, we’re off!” Makie waved as she walked towards the registration desk.
“Hohoho! Thank you very much, Chisame-san.” Ayaka added.
“Yes! Thanks to you, the other contestants don’t stand a chance!” Anya added as she followed Ayaka and Makie.
