The walls are getting smaller and I am getting bigger. There is no flex space any longer. The next person to go on my tribe has earned their stay, paid the rent, but will be evicted nonetheless. We have to win, or else it's dog eat dog. But if it comes down to that, I have an appetite for control in this game, and I think it might be time to eat Helen. It's kind of tricky, really. There are two ways to look at this. Helen is tight with people I want to work with, especially Lindsay, but possibly also JR. Voting out Ryan won't really have any negative side effects with other players, but voting out Helen might damage my prospects with those I just mentioned. At the same time, Helen is more dangerous than Ryan, at least in my eyes. And... Ryan has more reason to stay loyal. He has less options. He already voted out two of his best prospects and is probably going to have to bank on me and Pam now. So what to do... keep Ryan to eliminate a threat while gaining a more predictable ally, at the risk of angering Lindsay and maybe JR? Or keep Helen to ensure group rapport, while losing a possible ace up my sleeve... Newman things we should give Helen the axe because HE will have an easier time controlling Ryan. Well, last time I checked, I don't need (or even want) Newman controlling ANYONE. Wrong choice of words, Newman. I want to be the one in control. The thing is, I think I would also have an easier time controlling Ryan... and Lindsay will most likely have no option but to stick with us... if she is tight with Newman and fears the other power players. Pam also was leaning toward a Helen vote last time I checked. I will admit, voting Helen will be hard. I like Jenn as a person and I don't want to hurt her feelings in real life. But this is a game, and she is an All-Star. She knows what she signed up for. |

Update: 1/31/12 1:05 pm Just a few things for now. 1. Newman asked me if I'd be comfortable throwing Thursday's challenge. The answer is no, not at all. Sorry, buddy. He might have overplayed his hand on his end, but he isn't sure. He called Randy out for not being super active and then logging on and pretending they are tight. At the same time, he is thinking of blindsiding Melissa with Lindsay and possibly Randy, who he considers a wildcard. Maybe confronting him wasn't the best policy if he wants him to help him set up a major power move. At any rate, he worries that if he tries it, word will get back to Melissa. So, don't try it then. I'm not throwing a challenge for him, because I'd honestly like to not have to show my hand by voting out Helen just yet. 2. Lindsay sent me a message saying she'd like for her and Newman to align with me and Pam. I'm down for that. Though at some point, I need to stop Newman from having so much control in this game. He is trying to set himself up too nicely, and I feel as though he might have to pop up on my radar at some point. For now, I think it's the safest place to be. I just sent Pam a message addressing it. The thing that worries me is I think Helen talks to Lindsay, so I don't want Lindsay telling Helen that me and Pam are as tight as we are. I wonder if Newman filled Lindsay in on the fact that we are thinking of voting Helen out next... 3. JR just messaged me saying he is relying on me and Pam after things switch up. It's funny. At one point it was me and Helen. Somehow it is getting out that me and Pam are tighter than me and Helen, and I don't like that. I need Helen thinking she is in a good spot, or else she will turn on me. At any rate, JR apparently tells Newman on a regular basis that he is closest with him and Sawyer. Seems as though JR is double-dealing to cover his bases. I wonder who else he is "working with." |

Update: 2/2/12 1:57 am Ok, so I'm a bit nervous. Not going to lie. Pam still thinks Helen and Ryan are close, and Ryan has been asking her who she wants to vote for if we lose. Pam is still telling him she promises not to vote him out, and she is hinting at the fact that she thinks Helen is more "dangerous" than me. But neither of them want to commit to naming a name for real. If Ryan and Helen are tight, I'm worried they might vote for me, and we might see a tie. I also worry about voting Helen out over Ryan now. The more Newman talks about all these people "we" can control, the more I think he also believes he is controlling me. I don't want to be one of his puppets, even if it's just in his mind, and I certainly don't want him to have other puppets. Ryan also thinks he has helped set up a potential blindside of Melissa. Melissa is a power player. I am a power player. I don't necessarily trust a guy that is "setting up blindsides" of power players, when I am one. And he thinks he set it up by getting the people on her tribe to vote her out... obviously, this involves Newman. The thing is, Newman has been contemplating this since day one. Ryan didn't really set it up. But Ryan clearly feels trust for Newman and has more in depth strategy talks with him than he does with me. Add the fact that he has asked Pam about tomorrow's vote but not me, and the fact that he is weighing voting me out, and yeah... I'm starting to think I should vote Ryan out instead of Helen. Newman has NOOOO control over Helen whatsoever. I don't know if Pam would be willing to vote that way though, since she has promised Ryan she would not vote for him. Gah. The bottom line is people don't trust me. It's throwing me off-kilter, because that's how I play. I gain trust from multiple opposing parties, use it to gain info, use the info to manipulate the game, and then strike when the time is right. So far, I can't even get the people on my OWN tribe to trust me, let alone work on gaining trust from anyone else. It's very frustrating. |

So, if Kamedo loses the challenge..........will this be one of the biggest votes of the game? |

Eh, it would be the biggest tribal council so far, but I think the same might be true if yellow loses... with the whole potential Melissa vote. I really don't think I'll get voted out. I really think Ryan will do whatever he thinks will help him get further. He might be hoping Pam will say she wants to vote me out, but when she doesn't, Ryan will most likely vote Helen out with us. Is that big? Potentially, yes. Big enough that I'd almost prefer it work the other way at this point... get Helen to vote Ryan out. But the benefits aren't big enough for me to scramble or go out on a limb... because I don't think Helen trusts me any more than Ryan does. I just know that Helen also doesn't trust Newman, and I'm preparing for the potential Adam/Newman coldwar to come down the line. I can promise you one thing. If I survive to the next phase of the game, I will regroup and become far more aggressive at some point. For now, I have nothing to work with because Ryan and Helen just don't trust me. This tribe has been horrible for me since day one. |

Update: 2/2/12 7:35 pm So, we are a couple hours away from tonight's challenge and Helen is telling me how nervous she is. She says nobody wants to "name a name" for who they want to vote for if we lose, because they are probably worried that they'll go tell that person. That makes sense. Though, both my name and Helen's name have both been named. She might be unaware of this. Anyway, Helen promised me she won't write my name down tonight. I had no choice to to return the promise, otherwise, I'm indicating that I'm considering her as a target. I can't just come out and do that. So, if I have to vote Helen out tonight (which I WILL do if it means saving myself), I will be getting some blood on my hands earlier than I wanted to. Ideally, we win tonight. If not, maybe I can convince Pam to vote Ryan. Otherwise, I'm breaking promises already. |
