The Cold War was a time when America was scared shitless of the dang dirty commies and their big bad nukes. Or at least that's how I, as a foreigner, (playfully) see it.

Of course, there was a lot of propaganda and PSAs going around about how to protect yourself if the ruskies decided to drop a bomb on the US of A. And although at the time these were probably seen as serious and about something that you shouldn't fuck around with, nowadays they manage to look pretty silly and overblown. Sounds like potential annotation material to me.
