I am really sick of the fossil heads saying graphics aren't everything. I can't help if people are stuck in the 80's, that subjective stuff should be kept to itself, and not get the attention of the internet. If i've learned one thing from games, then that is the experience by doing fun stuff and having a blast. Me: "I think all new movies suck, atleast the silent movies from 1920 didnt depend on sound and colors but by the awesome acting and text, just wow. Take that 21st century!" |

I think it has less to do with the quality of the graphics so much as it has to do with the aesthetics of the game, and what it tries to do with the graphics on hand. Games with well thought out art styles that push the envelope of the system they're on, no matter the bit-level of the graphics, will generally be remembered fondly. (Of course, all you have to do is take a glance at my avatar to see what my preferred graphical medium is.) |

Indeed, I only play games that have the most top notch and realistic shadows, model interactions, draw distances, lighting, particle effects, incredibly high resolution textures, motion-capture performers, many sliders for things like gamma and FOV and such, options for resolution, screen positioning, and anti-aliasing, over clocking, editable or very unobstructed user interface, post-processing optimizers, surround-sound audio, meticulous realism, packed yet sensible menus, and all that good stuff. Suffice to say I don't play many games. |
