The Tampa Bay Rays and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to the following trade and are sending the specifics to the ATH Trade Committee for review:
Rays Receive: SS Andrelton Simmons - $480,000 SP Mike Minor - $482,500
Braves Receive: 1B Ike Davis - $506,690 SP prospect - Alex Cobb
The Rays agree to this trade. We have been discussing a potential deal since the league started. I have been coveting Andrelton for a few months to fill my shortstop void. With other shortstop trade targets being unsuccessful and the free agent market dry in the position, I felt this deal was essential. I really hate giving up Ike and his power numbers (especially since he was a big chip in the Longoria deal), but sometimes you have to give talent to get talent. I now have my shortstop and will stop PMing all general managers! I also like adding Minor to my starting pitching core (which I feel is quite good). They both will fit in nicely with our team philosophy. I will now petition the league to add Fielding Percentage a category on ESPN.
Three months of negotiating finally payed off. I get my shortstop, Braves gets his power bat. Good luck Braves.

Yes, this trade was a long time in the making. Rays wanted Simmons and I liked several of his young pitchers. I signed Stephen Drew to open the door for the possibility of a deal like this as I really needed a power bat. Although I love Simmons and Minor, I have several players like them on my team. Especially with the addition of Cobb I was able to keep a good stable of young pitchers; enough that a few of them should blow up this year. However, the biggest emphasis was the power that Davis will bring to my team for years to come.

Approve, Rick finally gets the SS he has bene coveting for quite some time so nice get there. Mike Minor can be a nice depth SP to use.
Jim gets a nice cheap power bat who has some nice upside. Cobb is like Minor in that he gives Jim more depth.
