The Pirates and Padres have made a deal tonight. Here arethe details:
The Pirates trade Josh Bell Barrett Barnes
The Padres trade Kolton Wong Joe Ross
The Pirates agree to this deal because we get a top rospect at 2B in Wong. He should be up around all star break. He will fit our lineup incrediblily well. We also get a young former 1ST round pick in Ross who looks to be a decent arm for us. We give up 2 OF who we hate to move, but with Tavares, Myers, Hicks, and Polonco, we feel we have great depth and can move them to fill our hole at 2B. Good trade for both teams.

The Padres accept because we love the upside of Bell and Barnes regardless they will be fighting to be in the same outfield, we fell that both have the potential to be top OF in the near future. We can also hope that the pirates have a hot start and actually trade one of those guys into a starting job.

Approve #1. Good prospects involved in this deal. Both the Padres and the Pirates have assessed their farm system and made the determination to fill their needs. While Bell and Barnes are a bit further away, their upside is enormous. Wong should help this year to provide steady production. Ross has the upside of a solid #3 or even a #2 starter, but he is far from a sure thing. Good deal by both GMs to strengthen their farm systems.

Approve, interesting deal in Wong and Bell changing sides. Each to their own in prospect preferences.
