Cubs receive: Ubaldo Jimenez 13: $5,750,000 14: $8,000,000 (O) Mitch Brown RHP (spec) 2013 4th CLE
Indians receive: Josh Vitters 3B (spec) Tony Campana 13: $483,000 14: PRE-ARB 15: ARB 16: ARB 17: ARB
I do this trade to boost my SP ranks. I think there is a chance Ubaldo bounces back. I also get what I believe is the best prospect in the deal and a solid pick. I am not a Vitters fan and I don't think Campana will ever do anything else than steal bases.

Cleveland accepts. We cut cap while still adding some nice young talent!

I love the Cleveland end by getting Vitters. Mitch Brown is a nice piece going the other way as well. Ubaldo is a wild card here. His contract is very reasonable so Cubs may get a steal if he figures it out. Approve #1.

I like this trade for both sides. Tom moves someone risky for a 3B prospect who is also risky. Risk changing sides in a deal that gives the Tribe a possible future 3B and the Cubs a SP who can at least provide some decent starts not to mention Tribe cuts cap.

Approve #3. Now this is a deal. Nice work by both GMs. Indians is continuing to shape his team. After not trading the first 8 weeks or so, he has gone on a sneaky trade tirade reshaping his team. Nice Vitters pick up, though he was pricey. Ubaldo is worth the gamble for the Cubs. He begins putting a solid MLB roster together with a decent pitcher on a manageable salary. And he is worth the risk in a league like this. Mitch Brown is also solid prospect to add to his already deep stable of prospects. Nice deal for both.
