The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to the following trade for review of the ATH Trade Committee:
Rays Receive: OF Colby Rasums $4.675M (2014) TOR (new arb price) 3rd round pick (TB)
Blue Jays Receive: 1B Mitch Moreland $0.490 mil (2016) TEX $3M cash
TB adds $7.185 to payroll TOR saves $7.185 to payroll
The Rays accept. We are thrilled to bring Colby Rasmus to Tampa Bay. Even though he hit like .220 last year, we still believe in his talent and think he will thrive this season. One of my man-crush players. We also like getting back our old draft pick from the previous Longoria/Lawrie deal earlier this offseason. We have $30 million in cap space to help the Jays out this year and are fine exchanging that for the draft pick. We hate losing Moreland, who is cheap and will play in the Texas offense, but couldn't pass up adding Rasmus. Nice dealing with the Jays and good luck with extra money for free agency and the addition of Moreland.

I accept. I get back under the cap limit, and I don't feel Moreland and Rasmus are two far off. Both are bench depth for me anyways.

Approve TOR is finally under cap and they moved Rasmus who is a high risk player and TB moved Moreland who is the same type of player.

Approve #2. Good fair trade. I like the fact that Jays are under the cap. I think the 2 guys that are swapping are pretty even and the money and pick are a wash. Good trade.
