They can be about anything to do with Egypt, whether it is about a new building, a new job or something to with the Egyptian sub-forum, it all belongs here. If you see a suggestion you like, don't be shy, speak up and mention that you like it. Discuss people's ideas and explain why you think it is a good idea or not. Make this thread pinned? I suppose I will start this off ![]() Military Classes: I think there should be a change in the way the ranks work, a system similar to this but more like the old system: Warrior - to become a warrior you start off as a recruit as in the current system from this you become Soldier after working in your squad (I will explain squads soon) you can get ranked up to Medium Soldier and then High Soldier. Your last step now is to become a Warrior. Archers - same track as the warrior but medium archer ect Scouts - same again Squads - there are two types of squads a training squad and your post training squad. Training squads will have an Elite Archer, Warrior ect as the teacher, they are chosen by th general. They will rank up each member of there squad until they are there fully chosen class. Once they are a warrior, scout or archer they will put in a squad that goes through military procedures. We should start off with one or two and then expand and make more. Each squad will have a certain amount of members, one warrior, one archer and one scout (this can change depending on numbers of soldiers) and they will be lead by a Squad leader. These squad leaders can be trained in all aspects of military and can also be teachers. |

Here is a less confusing list of ranks for my proposed change in the military system: Top = Highest Rank, Bottom = Lowest Rank General - In charge of all military actions Elite Soldier - Trained in the warrior, archer and scout class's. These are chosen specifically by the General, these soldiers train new recruits and are in charge of a squad. Warrior, Archer, Scout - All fully trained in the choice of class. These class's are as high as a player can get by themselves - to get higher you need to bo chosen by the General (for info about each individual class see the Jobs thread) Medium Warrior/Archer/Scout - Nearly finished there training in becoming a full time warrior/archer/scout Low Warrior/ Archer/ Scout - one step above recruit, they now start there specific training towards there chosen class Recruit - Have just joined the army and are now going through basic military training, at the end of there recruit training they choose a class suited for them. I was also thinking of a class just under General that takes leadership in the Generals absence |

I like this suggestion and the scouting changes suggested by DarthOreo. I'll start working on implementing these changes in a moment. |

I vote to reinstate the Old Egypt defenses: A cactus wall with water running between it into a lava pit. It worked well back then and it looked badass. Would appreciate your thoughts. |

What about a huge statue of me? ... No? We could enhance the Priest Rank. Add more priviliges, tasks, etc. Make it a bit more attractive for new people. Just saying

RP wise priests are the diplomats and officials of a nation. They are allowed entrance to a city at any time as long as they fly the banner of Priest. Perhaps the Priests could essentially be our liaisons to not only the gods but to other factions? Perhaps the messengers? |

I think the storage area needs wooden doors on it. It would be too easy to walk in and steal our materials. Especially knowing that people have /sethome'd in the city, and that the mining menace has infiltrated us from below. |

'Mining Menace'? You mean the Tunnels Myth? Or do you mean the freaky map room in the mines?

I'm don't know much about old egypt, but I might have some suggestions for our city... 1st) The construction of an outer-area. Our inner city is quite magnificent, but with our member amount increasing, many of them might wish to build their own homes... Furthermore, an embassy might be a good building we need, but to put it within our walls might not be the best idea. On the other hand, to leave it unprotected isn't a good idea either. Therefore, it might be a good idea to build smaller, say... 3-6 blocks tall outer walls, surrounding an area for living (minor nobles perhaps, citizens who've done enough work to warrant a personal home, as well as lesser public constructions), as well as an area for an embassy, and possibly larger soldiers barracks for 10+ soldiers. Proper ones, less cramped then our current barracks. The outer area can also contain shrines to the Gods, maybe even some minor temples and such... It could serve as our semi-public city, while the area within the walls might be exclusive to proper nobles, priests, high-ranking military and the Pharaoh's personal guard, as our 'private' city. 2) Well, I had some ideas regarding organization. If the pharaoh is willing to listen to them, i'd be happy to type those ideas out proper. They are rather extensive though, and are social, military and economical in nature... Therefore I'd like to wait and see if there is an interest in a different organizational structure before typing out the paragraphs of boring information. 3) A trading post. Not within our city, but an international one outside of any city on neutral ground. It could be used for inter-personal trade, rather then faction-to-faction trade, but for each of the factions. We would be the founders of it, possibly with the help of the Romans, and then other factions might join us there, to create a place for the international economy to thrive. Coincidentally, the idea also offers numerous diplomatic opportunities to further trust between the factions. Edited by TheNaiveCynic, Jul 24 2011, 10:35 AM.

At the current moment our citizens are told to make their housing near their workplace. While I do like your outer city notion there are some things to take into account .The amount of faction land we can claim, I prefer to keep 20 chunks open at all time in case of attack or a need of quick claim .The massive girth of our current city, if we are to build an outer city then the need to cut down some walls and close in the large open spaces would be required. Mkay, I shall do some surverying to figure out the best available solution because I am taking fancy to your idea. -- For the Trade outpost, that is a nice one that Egypt had started on the previous map. A relatively centered area where each faction would claim 1 chunk only and build their open door trading post on. I shall consult this with you and PK after doing some quick chunk estimations for spacing -- As for your ideas I would love to hear them, send me a PM if you please? |
