thanks guys i decided to make an aluminum steering column, not everything is gonna be ratty on this thing, well actually the engine is gonna be decent, but not beautiful..... anyways heres the column, the end next to the steering wheel, is a piece of 5/32nd aluminum tubing, that i enlarged the very end of with an awl, the slid it on to a piece of 1/8th tubing and gave it a dot of glue, to hold it in place., i sanded it a bit, and polished it with the dremel and a buffing pad and some compund...... i drilled the hole for the turn signal lever and glued it in.....the steering wheel is just tacked on there for right now, ill glue it on after painting, im going to add a lock cylinder and some photetched keys......the shifter will now be on the floor...... lemme know what ya think guys... heres a couple pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() stay tuned more to come.... lemme know what ya think Bryan |

Sounds like you perfected it a bit, Bryan! Yeah, it's basically the first part and I let it dry. I used it on the chassis of my Lost in the Swamp cars because I knew they'd be permanently fixed to the base.

Hum, gold and white? Yeah, I can see it . . . though remember gold is a little finicky as a paint and it all comes down to the brand you are going to use . . . But yeah, that will work. Maybe try it on a sample card . . . Oh, I already like the idea of gold as junkyard treasure!!!

The Gold may be effected by the primer color you use under it. Try some different primer bases on a scrap. |

Whoa. That was unexpected. I don't hate the yellow though. It may work for this build. |

I love it. It's a great base, now break out the airbrush and fog and fade some other colors over it. The airbrush is the perfect tool for creating subtle fades on paint. This thing is coming along very well. Keep it going! |

My mixture of rust is Hamilton's mix which--and Ken can correct me if I am wrong--50% Rust and 50% Roof Brown . . . I add a few drops of flow medium and thin it with distilled water. Also, you can add a drop of orange at a time to brighten the rust . . . That simple. You should be in business with the airbrush. |

Darn you guys! I made up my mind I have more than enough models to last my lifetime, shall buy no more. Then Cranky shows up with a Revell new tool Nova. I got bit, bought one. Now this? I'm beggin ya for mercy! (please show none!) Revell sure knows how to make models these days, don't they? The scripts are deep enough to BMF after primer and paint. Separate chrome? WOW! |

Dan, don't hold back, just break that piggy bank and splurge. Revell knows it is on the right track with some great kits, and this 55 Chevy is no exception . . . Every body I open, the light and glow of excellence just pours out. I have not built an AMT kit in I don't know how long. |
