Hello everyone! I can't tell you how much I've missed this board! A couple of things have kept me away...

1. I can't get on the site from work.
2. (Probably the biggest reason) We just had a baby on the 18th of December, so things have been pretty crazy around here.

Anyway, on to my question...

I'm curious to know what everyone is using for paint stands. I've been doing a lot of reading, in what little spare time I've had. I've seen a few different types of paint stands. Currently I'm using a wire coat hanger that I've bent into a sort of "U" shape to fit the the front and back ends of the body. The smaller parts I try to keep on a portion of the tree and use small clamps to hold them up.

I'd love to see what you all are using.

Thanks and take care,
Sean

Hey Sean,

first up, congrats on the new baby!

as far as "paint stands" i am doing the same thing as you are, I have a coat hanger that i bent to shape, but i added a heavy clamp to mine that way i dont have to hold onto it, when im done i can just clamp it to something till it dries.

for smaller parts, i have some chopsticks, and on one end i put double side tape, stick the parts to them and spray away!

thats about it.....

A HUGE congrads on the new baby!!! :20

I don't have a "stand" persei'. For bodies,I take a 20oz Gatorade bottle and it fits barely snug inside most 1:24/25 bodies (the bottom side),I wear rubber dishwashing gloves when I spray (overspray sucks when it hits your watch-doh!). Doing it this way works for me,because I can turn it very easily as I spray, and when I'm ne,I just set it down carefully to dry/cure (it is a little top heavy this way,but I've yet to tip one w/ wet paint over).

I don't have a pic,but I'll try and remember to shoot one later and post it up. Hopethishelps :)

Congrats on the new baby. It's never to early to him/her started. :P
I shelled out the 20 bucks for the Tamiya paint stand.

For small parts I use "alligater clips " from an electronics store (Radio Shack, or some such) the clips have an end that will force fit on to one end of soft wire the other end of the wire will go into a hole drilled into a piece of plywood.

First, congrats on the new baby! That is a very good reason for not being around.

I do pretty much the same thing as Bryan, with a coat hanger and double stick tape. Instead of chopsticks, I use some 1/2" by 1/2" pieces of wood that I have, each between six and twelve inches in length, that I fold masking tape double onto to attach small pieces. I would like to pick up a lazy susan of some sort eventually though for the big pieces.
