Memories of the things we left behind . . . LOL! Hey, folks how about remeniscing about those builds you had fond memories of building . . . or watching someone else build . . .

Since I started this I might as well take my own medicine:

Although this was a total failure, I sure had a lot of fun building and playing with the componets . . . and you guys walked me through a lot of the steps. I still have it up on the shelves . . .

Posted Image

It was the beginning of the madness for me, of building, of trying to take better pics . . . and really loving the act of it all . . .

Posted Image

Sometimes we lose sight of that aspect of buiding: the FUN parts.

Okay V here's one I remember doing. This was the first Merc I ever chopped. It took me 6 months to build, as I wanted to make sure the putty didn't shrink. I used the article on chopping roofs by Tim Boyd in the old SAE mag. Every contest I entered this one in for 2 years it always brought home the gold. Today my daughter is the caretaker of it, as she got it when I divided up my collection between her, and her brother. This Merc was a Crusin USA kit that George Barris designed for AMT. Pic was at the St.Paul World of Wheels show.

Her brother got this one, as he was just little when I built it. This one also brought home the gold in every show I entered it in.

I remember the day I bought the kit at the local LHS. There was a young kid in there looking at kits also. I opened the box, and took out just the stuff I needed, and gave him the rest. He thought he hit Christmas in June. All I took was the body, and chassis parts. It's a Revell 55 Chevy kit.

Okay one more here's a pic of what a JC Whitney ad did back in HS. I saw this ad in their catalog one day for car club jackets and a idea was born. Ten years later when the club disbanded we had 10 grand in tools, a 2 car garage, and money in the bank. This is the car I drove at the local dirt track our 2nd year racing. We ran 2 cars this year.

This one was driven by our Assistant Pastor of our church who was a club advisor.

This is a house that I made mostly out of sticks and stuff laying around. I built it around 1975.

He does a lot of customs, and rods. Goes for Foxboro Kid, so if he shows up , make him fell welcome. Like I know that would never happen. :D

Wish I had photos of my first diorama, a dinosaur diorama in a shoebox back in 2nd grade. But I did this one quite a few years ago when I first got my digital camera.

My first diorama created for the PEANUT BUTTER LID DIORAMA CHALLENGED issued over at SA by Virgil. "The rogue cow" is still in my entertainment center some 3-4 years later.

I kinda have a "thing" about birdhouses. All my dioramas have birdhouses in them. These are about 1.5"=1'. I lost count on how many I made. It's a lot.

All of this proves the point: we are one heck of an eclectic group of builders, which is what makes us one of the best forum groups! :D

I've been working on my truck shop dio for over 20 years now, but this is the first time I ever completed a dio and called it done, of course in response to the original PBL cpb

I have redone most every model I owned that I didn't like the way it looked (that didn't get destroyed), so I don't have any of those old original builds that show how badly things used to be done.

This is my oldest model that the body hasn't been repainted on, built in 1977, right after I graduated. I have cleaned up and repainted everything else on the model. It has wheels off a early 90s Cyclone. I polished up the body's paint, but it has it's original paint, Testors metallic blue.
