Hey guys please bear with me here. If it wasn't for this man I wouldn't know any of you, or be involved in this great hobby of ours. Everyone is always asked how did you get started building/collecting? well for me it was because off my Dad. Before I was a year old he decided I need a hobby. He purchased this car kit, and built it. The only one he ever did in his life.

After that it was all down hill for me, as the bug bit hard. I never took a break from building/collecting like so many others, only to return to it later. Somehow I managed to combine my love of modeling with other interests. Been at it since I was 6 years ols. Some of my builds even today might reflect that :D .

Sunday 10-18-09 will mark the 10th anniversary of his passing. He was on his way to church when he had a massive heart attack. The good thing was he didn't suffer, as he died before he hit the ground. He hadn't been out in a month or so, and wanted to see hid grand daughter get confirmed. He died on the way to the car.

Well before this gets any more morbid. Id just like to say THANKS DAD I really miss you, and thanks you also for involving me in this great hobby.

Here he is my Dad.

That's a big loss you'll never get over, but it sounds like you've got wonderful memories.
Thanks for sharing, Merc.

I can relate. My dad bought me a Revell '56 Chevy model in 1973 or so, with opening everything. It was way over my head, but I got it built. Wish I still had it, but I do have the memories. He died in 1975, I was 17. But that was the start of my building models. I'm sure it would have happened anyway eventually, but it's nice that the nudge did come from my dad.

Common threads...
