No, it doesn't have to be Xmas oriented. We just called the contest that because it is the time of the year when everyone is dropping off to do other stuff. This is our way of lassoing you back in!!!

LOL!!!

Chuck, talk to Bryan about Paypal!

Yeah, I don't see why not, but in retrospect it should really be HOLIDAYS and not just Xmas, afterall, it is beginning way before Thanksgiving, including Veteran's Day.

But yeah, I don't see any reason why not . . .

Can it be a car from before 1929?

Can it have a scratch built steam engine?

I'm thinking about building a steam powered 1918 ford center door hot rod. Maybe like try out my idea using this contest.

Originally I wanted to do a full detailed steam punk type car. But since it's only a quick project I could use a 1929 Ford just for this contest, but I thought I'd ask.

We forgot about how many folks are really into Steampunk, but it's a style that you are welcome to infuse into any build as long as it's between 1929-1962. If you use that 1929 body, it's perfect.

I don't understand, it say's rat rod, hot rod, and custom, but no shiny paint jobs. Hot rods and customs have shiny paint on them. If there is none allowed, you should just put it down as a rat rod contest, because a hot rod or custom with a dull paint job would have to be considered an unfinished car...

Shannon, I think resin is fine as long as it is resin from 1929-1962.

Philbass and Corvet Summer--we understand your point, but this is in part a contest to encourage flat paint as opposed to shiney paint. We all know that Shine paint has always reigned supreme everywhere . . .

This is a contest to expand the possibilities of WHAT CAN BE DONE with flat and suede paints. Believe us, your point is well taken.

Hi, Phil, I think Bryan is incharge of the in-coming fees, and I believe he doesn't take PAYPAL.

A money order will probably work since you are in another country.

All questions are welcomed, buddy. It's not a problem.

I'm running into an engineering problem with the rules:

Under other parts it says: "as long as the parts used are from 1929-1962"

Suppose I wanted to use a frame and suspension from a newer car or older car? Or an engine from a newer car? But I'm still using a 1931 body.

What about steering wheel, seats, wheels, tires, etc etc.
Do they all have to be from 29' to 62' ?

Maybe you could change to rules to read the body and frame must be 29' to 62' but all other parts can be from any time period.

???????????????

Why is it restricted to 1/24, 1/25 ?
A lot of builders here use small scale as their preferred medium and I use large scale.

Yeah, you know when there is a judged contest involved with winners and losers sometimes people can get picky. I did not want someone saying, "hey those wheels were not available on the market until 1964. So that car should be disqualified !".

Thanks,

You are right about that. This was a good idea, buddy, which is why we changed it.
