Hi yall. Been a while since I was one here, this has turned into an unbelievable busy summer, especially helping mom with the rebuilding of her house. Not done too much building, except for the past couple of weeks. Started this Jeep for a friend to use in a diorama. My first attempt at weathering, not too sure about it. Figure yall are the best, so this would be the place to get input on it. Especially for the next one. It's an Army surplus turned into a shop truck circa 1960, in the Georgia area. Was hoping for a been out and about in the red clay mud and dust, but don't think I got close to it. Thanks a bunch, now to try and get caught up!!

Dave

Fireguy, that looks great. I also looks like you might want to enter the contest. You already have the right attitude about paint!!!

Think about it. Best, Cranky.

Good to see you building again! Yeah, weathering clay is hard. I like that you didn't go with "white" white. One point I would make is that the windshield is too clean. Maybe spritz it with some Dull Cote from four feet back.

The seats are great though. Great work on the duct tape!

Thanks Chuck. Actually, there is no glass in the windshileds yet. Got a trick I want to try out with them. I still think it is too pink in color, so I am going to try some different colors to hopefully tone it down some. Thanks for compliment about the seats, I'm kinda proud of those.

Thanks Chuck. Actually, there is no glass in the windshileds yet.
That would explain why they look so clean. :$

Try something a little more browny red and it should compliment the pink. Georgia clay is a tough color to match.

Thanks a lot yall! This was my first ever attempt at weathering one, guess it came out OK. I am real pleased with how the seats ( thanks ronr for steering me that way) and the windshield turned out. I used a microscope slice for the glass, which cracked very nicely. And you can't see it after I added the dirt, but the super glue fogged the edges, looking like delaminating glass. Thanks again for looking.

That thing came through nice. Just the way we like it. The holes on the dash are perfect, and so are the details in the back!!!

Fireguy,

That Jeep looks strangely familiar. It looks good. I would suggest weathering the chain and the rope in the back, and maybe a little dirt on the interior since it sits outside all the time dirt and leaves would accumulate. Cool weathering and seats.

Thanks for the comments yall, and a big thanks for all the tips and tricks Ihave picked up from around here. Am happy to say that the Jeep is in its new home, and the new owner is pleased with it. And more importantly, it was part of RonR's award winning diorama in Atlanta!
