Well, just as I suspected all the contest building activities got my juices and blood flowing again. Jairus and Bryan have got me thinking of surf wagons, and I think this one is headed in the right direction. I've built a rack frame out of brass, but there's going to be bamboo on it . . . we'll see how and where it goes . . . paint is next . . .

Here are a few more pics . . . .

Although the Revell kit is extremely smooth, I still sanded some of the panels like the front of the hood . . . .

Here are mock ups with the wheels. I am using Modelhaus 170 wide walls . . . with the stock hubcaps . . . .

I think this one is going to be painted in Tamiya Cockpit Green and Tamiya Yellow Green . . . flat, with some rust spots showing . . . subtle or maybe over the top. We'll see . . .

Yeah, B, it's going to be two tones, but the hood is going to be a different color, maybe brown or black and so is the passenger door . . . we'll see where this one goes . . . .

Yeah, now that I can sit down for longer stretches, the bench feels great. I feel energized. We'll see what happens with this one. Plus since I have convinced so many builders into building a model in two months, I figured I would take my own medicine. I'll build this even though of course I am not entering the competition.

So far so good, Virgil. What are you using for primer here. Looks so smeauthe! My primers of late are producing rather rough paint jobs.

Dan, it's my favorite primer: Plastikote 235, gray primer . . . . nothing works as well. Goes down thin and smooth!!!

yea, i use the same stuff too............either that or i use duplicolor grey filler primer............it lays down really smooth, and it will fill in very minor scratches..

Chuck, that's where I get them. A place called MIDWAY. I get them in six cans at a time. It's great stuff.

Okay, maties, here's some more progress. I like the fact that this one is not fighting me every step.

Here it is in primer . . . and then rust paint . . .

My new thing is stippling the different shade of rust on there . . . I really like the effect and the look . . .

Bryan had asked what colors, and here they are. I usually mix the colors out of the Tamiya jar and into these plastic bottles I have for easy access . . .

The main colors are TAMIYA COCKPIT GREEN, TAMIYA YELLOW GREEN, and TAMIYA GREY GREEN . . .

And the handing Micron is ready for the task . . .

I find that with the pin-point accuracy of the Micron C-Plus, there's no real need with a build like this to mask anything. You can do two tone paintjobs without the stress . . .

Here's the first color: TAMIYA COCKPIT GREEN . . .

The airbrush blows off some of the salt, but this is good because it provides even more variety to the rusting . . .

Great colors Virgil. I always like the pictures of the airgun and bottles of paint as you are getting ready to spray. Very cool.

Yeah, I just ordered three cans from Midway. Can't wait for it to come in. Looks like my latest project is going to have to wait a little bit for the body work!

Great work on the rust!
