One of my favorite type of ratty beasts happen to be those made from a cobble of Light duty truck parts with some big rig stuff thrown in to make it interesting and confusing. Never built one yet, so now is as a good of time than ever.

Starting with a Revell 1937 Ford Pickup. I might order some Ford AA wheels for it, but if not, these will be the ones I'll be using. It's built in my head, now I just need to build it for real. :)

Rear wheels are from a AMT peterbilt wrecker, with louisville chrome hub covers. Tires are from the ERTL diecast truck I took the resin casts of the budd wheels from.

Front wheels are my resin cast Budd wheels, with AMT model T tires.

Rear suspension will be a semi truck air bag setup.

The budd wheels are for mockup, my friend Ben is currently remastering the wheels on a lathe and the lug nuts using real ones from RB Motion.

Sweet Ryan. I almost went with truck tires on my build, but I chickened out. That's going to look great, can't wait to see more.

Great car for your inspiration Ryan. Can you imagine your teenage daughter's boyfriend owns that vehicle and drives up in front of your house and blow the horn, or revs the engine to 5000 rpm a few times, so your daughter knows it's time to go out on a date with him?

Geez, you are right, Jim . . . that vehicle is right up my alley. Holy cow, that's amazing. See, this is why I love rat rods. They are suicide traps, they are a death rap. We gotta get out while we are still young!!! Wait, who said that? :D :D :D

Keep up the great work, Ryan. Go, go, go, go, go . . . well, you get the idea!!! GO!

Whoa. Glad I opted against my '37 Ford. :P Great reference material, Ryan. That's got to be the lowest, meanest rat rod I've ever seen!

Here is the rear

Thats a 2 speed rear axle, It should help lower the driveshaft angle.

The engine is a diesel caterpillar 3208.. I may or may not use it. But I really might because a greasy yellow engine inside a rusty death contraption is pretty freaking awesome!

Don't know what you have planned, Ryan.
But if the bottom of the cab line were to follow the frame rail, there'd be a hell of a cool rake to it..

If I went with the 41 chevy I could have cut the bottom sheetmetal right off and it would be even lower, however on this, the body design would look weird with the bottom half removed, if I did it like the prototype.

It will have a nice rake Clay :)

I decided to not use the kit pully and fan belt assembly, would you? No didnt think so, look at that mess!

I took these resin drive axle covers I cast and put a 1/16th pilot hole at the bottom, tapped into a 1/8th inch and chucked up some brass 1/16th rod in my dremel, and used it as a lathe and turned down my own pulleys. I need to redo the smaller one however.

Currently waiting on some evergreen for my framerails and a grandt line and tichy train rivet and bolts!

Good choice on the cab, I like the rear mail slot.

And those tires look awesome singled on the truck axle.
