Greetings from Kansas. My name is Alyn Loya. I read Cranky's post on MCM regarding his Christmas contest and thought I'd come on over and check this place out.

45+ years ago, at the age of 13 I built about a dozen glue bombs; mostly brush painted, some even unpainted. I didn't even know that you should scrape the chrome off to apply glue. Some of these cars ended up flying over ramps in my driveway in a flaming death dive. The rest I don't know what became of them. Once I discovered full size cars, my short model building career was over.

In the late 80's, my wife bought me an 1/8th scale '85 Corvette to replace the 1:1 we sold to get a "family" car. After getting it about 1/2 way done, I set it aside and forgot about models for another 20 years. 2 years ago this month I decided to get it finished. At that time I checked out the model car scene on the internet and was blown away by the advancements in model car building. I tried to add a little extra detail to the Vette and enjoyed building so much that I decided it was time to get back into the hobby.

So now, counting the Corvette, I've completed six cars and trucks. I'm a quick study and detail oriented so things have turned out pretty good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the work on this forum and maybe getting to know you all a little better.

cheers,
Alyn
