What did you think of 'Battle Royale 2'? Unnecessary sequel? Or did it bring something different to the series? Favourite/least favourite character? Who did you want to see more of, and who did you want to see less? Wild Seven concept...genius? Or not so much? Whatever you thought, share! :-) |

I'm a little conflicted about the whole movie. At first I thought it was bad. As a Battle Royale movie, I thought it was not-so-good, but if you think of it as an individual movie, it's pretty neat. You get the issue? Haha! But now, regardless of not calling myself a fan of it, I do like it. And while I kinda get why it is so "hated", at the same time I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. Also, the whole thing, Shuya being a terrorist, being unrealistic, is, in my eyes, utter bull! 'Cause let's think a little! Shuya, all his friends and Kawada are dead. He's gone through a terrible games where he watched all those people die. Wouldn't you think he'd be very unstable after all that? And what he wants to do is revenge and that's exactly what he is doing. But the thing is, he doesn't know how. What he does know is violence and his hatred he feels towards adults. There wouldn't be any other way, either, if you'd more think about it. I'm sad to see how much Shuya hate gets for his choices. I don't personally think there would have been other way to revenge. The thought of Shuya gathering other Program winners to fight against the government is really good. How they all know what it was like. It was really clever of him to get them all into his group. And Mai. |

I agree with Dyna, the movie works better as it's own rather than as thinking about it as a sequel to the first movie. Surely it isn't better than the first movie but in my opinion it was nice, I've seen a lot worse! I also liked the twist that the students started as an enemy to Shuya and in the end they were his allies and it brought even more cred that not everyone agreed joining to Shuya at first. I'm not sure I would've seen Shuya as a terrorist but definitely avenging his friends somehow. I also liked how he had matured and his way of thinking was more logical compared to the first movie I don't like Shiori at all, too typical angsty-i'm-so-mysterious-i-don't-give-a-crap-girl for me, I just find her annoying. I don't like Takuma as an individual too much either but I liked his relationship with Nao (OMG I ship them so much), and later his friendship with Shuya. Also when they left the building and then that one guy confessed (or said something else, to stay safe?) to one of the girls and then left back with the other guys to fight, it was very nice scene for me. (Honourable mention goes to the guy with the big fluffy hair, I laugh everytime he comes to the screen :D) All in all, I like the movie when I don't start thinking too much about the first one! |
