![]() That's Neo, our Sun Conure. I believe he will be 7 years this year. He's a pretty cool kat. Except when he looses his cool and screams until you lose your hearing haha. More pictures later. |

I ... LOVE that bird. Neo's what made me want a sun conure originally, but I do have enough on my plate for the time being.

He's named after the main character in the Matrix movies, in case you were wondering why Neo. |

Yep, I figured. Loved the Matrix and to a lesser extent, the sequels but they were still good.

What a gorgeous boy! I love sun conures, except for the fact that they do scream and some can just scream for hours. |

So adorable! Are they juvies or females? The one to the left looks like a female, but I can't tell with the one on the right. Maybe a juvie male? Anyway, they're adorable! I still love the thought of having a bird, but it would probably be a pair of zebra finches or a pair of budgies. |

they are both females. Bird 1 (left) is around 3 years old while bird 2 is older than 1 year. I have been thinking about getting a dog, but idk how one would treat the birds. would it view them as prey animals? would it be best to socialize the birds and the dog while it's still a puppy or are puppies dumb and rough? |

Nice, beautiful girls. Puppies tend to be rough, but reinforcement is the key. A lot of dogs are fine with birds. Just try to train the dog while it's still a puppy. If it gets too rough, scold the puppy and take the birds away. Always supervise and make sure that the birds and an emergency escape route readily available. All in all, they should be fine. Good luck! |

Hey Ivan, I have a random request. Can you get a video of Neo making his general day-to-day noises? |

Ok I figured it out, videos posted in the above post. I think you have to turn your volume up to hear the audio and my speech. Let me know if the videos don't work or audio still doesn't work. Yes it is sideways, sorry..haha! First video is Neo when he is calm. Second video is Neo when he gets slightly vocal. Edited by Ivan, Wed Apr 15, 2015 2:03 pm.

He's so cute!!! I love how he dances! That's just adorable. ♥ Honestly, I wouldn't mind that noise, it's the high pitch scream that the cameras can't even pick up that I can't stand. Of course, I'm used to a green wing macaw screaming in my ear from my lfs. I'm used to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLD-ZPoUGyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHTc603tUhQ |

o jesus, yes i knew macaws were some of the loudest birds, but dayumm... Neo can be annoyingly loud with his shrieks. If he sits on my shoulder and starts to yell, i sort of go deaf in that ear. It is manageable but not ideal. It's a good bird to have in a house, but not an apartment. He stays quiet if i stay quiet but if people start to call back and forth in my house, he joins in too lol. If you are interested in bigger parrots, and can stand the loud noise, i recommend a different parrot than a sun conure. There are other parrots that have much better ability to talk (african gray being one of the best) than Neo. Conures have limited talking ability. One of my friends has a Nanday conure who is way more socialized than my bird but it still doesn't really talk =/ It doesn't make a lot of sense when even budgies can talk, but sun conures can't... There are certain species of conure that can talk. i remember reading that. O and Neo was dancing in one of the vids because he didn't like my phone. That's the intimidation dance =P Edited by Ivan, Wed Apr 15, 2015 11:54 pm.

Oh really? lol I thought the dance was more for being inquisitive. Still, I don't know about Kenny, but I'm not to caring on if a bird talks or not. I know he loves their colors and I love a birds general cuddly-ness. My only problem would be if it attached to him because I'm fine with that, but I wouldn't be able to deal with it trying to bite me because even if I don't pet it I still want to be able to help clean the cage and such. My favorite type of conures are probably the green cheeks. I find them SO adorable and cuddly. I also love their colors. What are Neo's bites like? I heard parakeets are like pinches, but I've seen macaws give a "gentle warning bite" anddraw blood within seconds. What are conure bites like? |
