I spent the last two days in London doing excellent things, which I am now going to tell you about.

Minor thing: I saw Have I Got News For You being recorded, and went to the hospitality bit afterwards where you get to stand near Paul Merton and see just how tall he is. (Very. About 6'3 I reckon.)

Major thing: I filmed a pilot for BBC Comedy Extra called Ashen's Tech Dump. It's a series of sketches and animations presented by me in a storeroom full of outdated tech gubbins.

More Tech Dump info:
  • It's produced by Hat Trick Productions and directed by Al Campbell (Screenwipe/Newswipe/Gameswipe, this, this.)
  • We filmed two full sketches and several very short one-off jokes. I'll also be producing four short animations.
  • The shoot required the services of three professional dancers and two pairs of fake breasts.

Whoops. I just got Al to re-upload it.

Tragically the advent of competent lighting and a proper video camera will show my beard in it's true non-gingery state. However, I can supply an orange felt tip you can colour your TV in with.

Long days and pleasant nights, sai-Ashen.*

I am thoroughly excited by all this, and I wish you every possible success. I'm really rather looking forward to all this hard work coming to fruition!

I'll take two of those orange felt tips, please.

*Errm, yeah. It's late, and I've been reading a lot of Stephen King books lately.

Good heavens - Is that you? On the telly? With Uncle Clive from Micromen?
Yes. Yes it is, sir.
Glad to see you're keeping the ball rolling.

Bizarrely, here's a photo of the other photo being taken. Man in cap is my producer Andy.

(As you may now notice, the Tech Dump is actually a set built in the corner of a disused canteen in a prop warehouse.)

Well, I was a fan before you were cool...

Ahem.

Sweet. But, BBC Comedy Extra doesn't sound too mainstream, are the Beeb scared of the powers of the Mighty Lord Ashen?

...I can't imagine any broadcaster would invest money in a straight jump from minor YouTube success to a primetime slot on Saturday evenings...

Fair point. It's the start of your journey into the big bad world of selling out fame and fortune.

Back in the day it would've been possible if you ran 'errands' for Michael Grade.
