I thought I'd start a little side topic on what our favorite tactics/combos are for our characters. Obviously, Marbles is a controller, but whenever I get to target a single opponent (like a boss or something) I usually go with my "Distract" encounter power. It's a minor and it grants CA to the next creature that attacks the targeted monster until EoNT. Then I follow that up with my daily:
That way with the CA effect in place before my attack, I have a higher chance of hitting my target with my attack. If by chance I do miss, I can still do damage and smaller ongoing psychic damage. :3 Edited by Marbles, Nov 23 2011, 12:40 AM.

Well, I could talk about a few conditions here:
Beyond that, I use a fairly straightforward system for each combat turn: random battle-relevant stuff first, then checks, then moving, then attacks. And depending on my target the stronger attacks typically get used toward the beginning of an encounter. I can't say that I really have a preferred battle combo, but if the opportunity arises for one I'll certainly divine one out. |

I'm so glad this thread topic got made. Cipher and myself joke about it back and forth, and even have some future plans made to support it, but Memnarch's battle style is as blunt as a brick wall, and as obtrusive as the Kool-Aid Man. He was originally going to be introduced to the party on the road to Neverwinter fighting off several Ash Zombies that had surrounded him, while on fire. Memnarch is at his best when things are at their worst. By some happy accident, or lucky planning he embodies that ideal I love so much and keep in my signature. He is a melee-caster-tank-bloodmage hybrid. Massive amounts of resistances all across the board, a hefty pool of HP, an assortment of spells and abilities that increase said resistances, and defenses that consume his own health that just get -better- the deeper into the melee he is. Cipher's even dubbed him as his own 'personal Prometheus' to play with; someone who just burns brighter, the hotter things get. Edited by Memnarch, Nov 23 2011, 10:25 AM.

Sounds like someone to be proud of. I feel that kind of exhilaration about Naris sometimes too, just not really in combat. I take great pride in her eloquence of speech, as I imagine I should given her heritage. She's meant to sound intelligent and charming, as a leader should.

You need to make relevant knowledge checks for that information, or you need to hit the enemy to find out. Of course, common sense always helps with this. "Oh, fire elemental? Let's not use fire on it..." and other things. Another thing to note is that not all monsters of a specific type have the same weaknesses and strengths. Just because one Zombie burns, doesn't mean that other one will. The same type of zombie (i.e. Zombie Rotter) has the same weakness and strength as any other zombie of the same type, but that doesn't mean that that other zombie (i.e. Rotwing Zombie) has the same problems. On a side note, since Sykes reached level 3, and Arcane Strike is now available to him, my personal combination is: Grasping Shadows Arcane Strike Unseen Hand It's not the best combination ever, but I like it. Drop a zone and then drag someone into it after wailing on someone you hit. Sykes also has War Wizardry Feats that make it more difficult to hit allies and reduces the damage I deal to them if I do hit them. Also, you may notice that these "Daily" attacks are Wizard Encounter spells. Yes. Bladesingers have no Encounter Powers. We learn Wizard Encounter Powers as Dailies every 3 levels or so. I personally prefer Ebony Razors, but it doesn't have the same kick as this combo. |

Indeed, and that's a great combo. As for the whole making-relevant-knowledge-checks bit, I'm all for it; though, in my experience, Peter tends to make the checks because his Arcana value is so high. Anywai~

Definitely I love my Arcana rolls so much xD. Brooke has her Diplomacy and Intimidation going on. Which is so funny because she isn't even trained in intimidation, but she rolls like a beast so she doesn't need to be. No lie you guys, out of everything, I love making checks. Each check is genuinely useful or at least great for lolz. |

I love Combat Advantage. LIKE A LOT. If I get lucky, I can do 30+ with one attack, RETAIN CA and then do another 20+ if I spend an Action Point. Also, like... anytime I can do a lot of damage.
