I'd like everyone to briefly introduce themselves and their characters in this thread. :) I figure any guests we get visiting might like to have some idea who they're following. The dungeon journals should help with that, but it's nice to hear it from the players too.

Born into a small village in the wood, Variz's home had come under attack with the cover of darkness to hide the assailants. They killed, pillaged, and burned the village to the ground, leaving nothing behind. Unknown to them though, a small baby lay in the wreckage, crying and crying till the sun rose. Because the village lay on spiritual ground, the spirits of his dead villagers took form to care for the child. When he could speak, he would often ask questions about his parents and his home, but the spirits would not answer him. They raised him to use the bow, and taught him the Spirit Arts which allowed him to use the spirits of his villagers and the surrounding nature to be used in combat. At the age of 18, Variz set forth from the ruins of his home and began his journey to find out who destroyed his home and his past. Hunting animals for food and monster for materials and gold, Variz made his way to the nearest town to look for work as a Hunter, whereupon he managed to find himself in strange company embarking on stranger adventures.

The result of her mother's desire for companionship in an untrustworthy world, Naris was born in a secluded home under quiet but auspicious circumstances. She lived a simple life with her mother until age eleven, when she was passed off to a sardonic but wise dragon arcanist. Practically born to serve, Naris learned the art of sorcery with unwavering loyalty for a decade until her master's mysterious death. Unable to dertermine the cause of her formerly strong and healthy mentor's demise, and now unsure of the location of her home, Naris has since wandered the land with her familiar, a dragonling affectionately named "Daryl". With nothing but mild worldliness and a gut feeling guiding her, Naris now finds herself in the presence of new and bizarre company, her future more vast and mysterious than ever thought possible.

A street smart, smart-mouthed thief that takes what she can get, when she can get it. She houses a dark past that she has kept from the rest of the company. However, she is slowly starting to trust them, and is willing to let them in, with time. She was saved from the noose by Morgar's quick intervention 7 years ago, and has vowed to payback her life debt to him. She ran away and joined the circus when she was 9, which is where she learned her craft. She is currently searching for an Orc with a blue star pendant, for what reason the rest still do not know.

vaDanti likes to introduce herself with the phrase "I'm the best <thief, rogue, assassin, etc.> you've ever heard of. Most are good enough not to be heard of."

Marbles originally came into this realm when a duel between himself and another Shardmind ensued. Marbles follows the belief of a Shardslayer. He must kill as many Shardminds as he can so that they may become one with the Life Gate and believe that when a shardmind dies, its animating life force returns to the site of the Living Gate, where it shores up the universe's defenses against the Far Realm's intrusion.

The duel caused a portal to rip open and casted Marbles to this realm, jammed into mineral node for a century(explaining his great age). After all this time, he was finally mined out by dwarves who thought he was a shining crystal fortune to be sold on the market. It was then that he was accepted by the dwarves as one of them and he met Morgar (another party member) and they have been friends ever since.

It was in a dungeon where he convinced a dragon that he was a Prophet through trickery and deceit in order to escape the lair. It vaDanti that was able to trick Marbles into believing his own tall tale as reality. He now not only seeks to destroy fellow Shardminds, but that it is his crusade blessed upon him by Kossuth to carry out this task.

Born to a poor fisherman and seamstress in the foreign land of Turmish, where rulers are decided by vote rather than lineage, where Gnolls and Lizardmen walk alongside Humans and Elves, Yavuz was born with no illusions of grandeur, no hope for a brighter future, no ambition save to care for his and his own. His parents were wildly unsuccessful in their business, and while his uncle ran a small store, it was hardly enough to care for two families. When his siblings were born, he knew his family didn't have nearly enough resources to keep them fed, and so he descended into a life of crime as a thug for criminals in his hometown, the capital city of Alaghon. Also the capital of the nation were Tyr first arrived upon the world... soon enough, his gang was apprehended by a cult, and he was offered a second chance, to leave his life behind and become a soldier of justice. And so he did.

Using what he learned from the temple, he emboldened his uncle and introduced him to new opportunities for profit, such as trade. Nephew and uncle traveled from Turmish to Amn as Yavuz strove to leave his past behind and build a new future for himself and for his family. In Amn, he heard of a distant island known as Arelith, a relatively young land that promised fortune and opportunity for the bold, and after bidding his uncle farewell, he set sail and crossed the sea.

He eventually joined the ranks of Benwick, a blessed city-keep of holyfolk dedicated to the Triad, and swiftly reached the rank of Knight among them. He was a mediator who listened to the problems of his fellows and tended to them in times of troubles, and a brutal warrior as likely to strike with his fists as he was with his blade. He nearly found himself in the position of High Priest of Tyr several times, but circumstances kept him from the position. Nevertheless, he was devout, skilled, and more likely than not, blessed. When trouble was heard of after Tyr's slaying of helm, he bade his home farewell and made his way to Neverwinter.

Neverwinter, where for Tyr he gave up his home, his dream of a family in Benwick, and ultimately, his life. His faith held even past the death of Tyr, and in the name of his fallen god, he defended the Jewel of the North until her foes claimed his life. He was buried in what would one day become a roadside, a roadside where members of the Black Staple Adventuring Company would find themselves under attack by zombies, mindless unlike he. An ancient ritual's final component was a need such as theirs, and he rose from his grave to stand at their sides. Now he stands at their sides, seeking the meaning behind his ressurection and to continue to do the good that he strove to do in life.
