Oh man, what if Giro Oz was the protagonist of ZX3? That would be cool. Hunting down Master Thomas, the one who created him (model O, that is) for his secret "reset the world" project. The female option for main character? Why not our leader's very dear Celtis Gisborne-Wingates Arcana (are you surprised I remembered her name? ;))

Hope you like! Yes, Ani, it IS 2 SOMETHING in the morning as I post this. Sorry for getting you into trouble over staying up too late. :( It hasn't been proofread, and I'm posting it here rather than going through the typical beta reading channels. Once polished, it'll go up on dA and ff.n.

Chapter 1 - Contact

Giro floated gracefully away from the small crowd, leaving Aile lying on the ground and Serpent, Prometheus, and Pandora staring at her. There was nothing more Giro could do.

Giro had always been a curious reploid. As a transporter, many questionable parcels had passed through his hands. He had always remained professional and trustworthy, refusing to snoop in other people's matters. But now, as a cyber elf, he had the time and ability to do some research. There were plenty of questions in his mind. What was Serpent's solution to the energy crisis? Was there any truth to the rumor of the "cursed" biometal? He decided to satisfy his curiosity and go find out about some of those things he'd always wondered about.

First stop, Area N. The rumor of a forbidden biometal piqued his curiosity. What secrets had been hidden there by the authorities of Inner Peace? Was there a national conspiracy involved, or was it simply the over-active imaginations of tavern patrons, always willing to begin another tall tale? Giro was about to find out.

The red cyber elf carefully made his way to Area N, dodging the traps and mechaniloids that patrolled the area. It wasn't long before he came upon a hallway lined with doors. Each one had a marking on it. Giro was familiar with the emblems; He had studied them under his old mentor. His teacher had made sure he knew the truth behind the Elf Wars. The markings on the doors were the emblems of the Einherjar, reploids designed by Dr. Weil to initiate Ragnarok, the end of the world. It didn't work. Zero, the one whose Heroic Spirit graced Giro's biometal model Z, had put a stop to it.

But there was one more door at the end of the hall. Giro stopped cold when he saw the emblem on it. Omega. The reploid held in this chamber... Could it be? Was the legendary god of destruction, the instigator of the Elf Wars, lying in exile in this room hidden deep underneath Inner Peace? Upon closer inspection, he noticed that this door wasn't locked like the others had been. That meant - that meant that ANYBODY could enter the chamber... And anybody could leave.

Unlocked door, curious cyber elf, not a good pair. Giro couldn't resist the unlocked door before him. What would he find? If the god of destruction was still in the room, could he harm a cyber elf? Would Giro be able to escape if he was locked in the room once he entered?

Well, no time like the present, and it's not like he really had a life to lose, right? The shiny red cyber elf was a little shakey as he activated the door mechanism and watched the door slide open.

As the door opened, the flourescent lights above winked a time or two, then illuminated, softly at first and gradually growing brighter until they were lit completely. Giro gasped in reflex to what he saw. It wasn't anything especially notable, he would have gasped anyway, had he seen anything in the room.

Lying on the floor in the middle of the room was a small object. It was round for the most part, with two flat surfaces protruding from the arc, parallel to each other.

It looked decidedly metallic.

Giro carefully looked around to see if there was anywhere someone could have been hiding. Seeing that the room was devoid of any crevices, closets, or other entrances than the one he had made use of, he slowly and cautiously approached the small object. It looked like a biometal.

Giro stopped, gasping in disbelief. A biometal. The symbol on the door, Omega. So it was true, the legend of the "cursed" biometal. The forbidden model O, holder of the Heroic Spirit of Omega, the god of destruction. Hidden here, deep beneath Inner Peace. In a room neither guarded nor even LOCKED, for goodness sake.

Giro inched forward toward the center of the room, still glancing left and right, expecting SOMETHING to jump out of nowhere and grab him. He nearly jumped out of his cyber elf skin when, once he had come within five feet of the object, it sat up and -

"Hello," it greeted dully.

"He-hel-ll-llo-o," Giro stammered in shock. "You're a biometal."

"Why yes, yes I am. Were you expecting something else?"

Giro had to think about that for a moment. "No, I guess not. Does that mean all the rest of the rooms out there..."

"Nope, I'm the only one. The rest are recreations of some of Weil's Einherjar, used by the Guardians and the army of Legion for practice and occasionally for fighting tournaments."

"Then why are you..."

"Here? Beats me. Research? They don't tell me anything. I'm just a lump of metal left down here in the dark. Literally."

A million questions flooded Giro's mind.

"Wait. If Ciel made the other biometals to work around the artificial reploid life spans made mandatory by the government, where did you come from? Who made you? Does that mean you can mega merge? Can you merge with anyone, or do you need to find a close enough match using some special criteria, like the other biometals?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, kid, slow down. All I know about my creator is that his name was Thomas. In answer to your question, yes, I can mega merge. I do need a match. And I'd need another biometal, though. I'm only half of the story. The other half of my data is in another chamber, across a sea of spikes. Really lame security system, if you ask me. But that's what they used. I think I'm the half that was cleansed of corruption, but nobody else wants to believe it. I guess that's why they left me down here, instead of bringing me up above ground with all the rest of the biometals. Maybe they were waiting until the other half of me had been cleaned or at least stabilized enough to work with. I can be a little... Volatile, I'll say."

"I see. I had heard rumors about you."

"So you had to find out if the rumors were true."

"Yup. And I see that they were."

"Sooo... Any chance you'd like to help me find a way out of here? Life as a sedentary lump of metal is rather boring."

Giro gave the mysterious biometal a quizzical look.

"And just how do you propose I do that? I'm a cyber elf. I don't have the strength to carry you out of here. And you can't merge without another cooperating biometal. Or a host, for that matter."

"Hm, good point. Well, I don't want to keep you up past your bedtime, kid. You should probably move along before you get kicked out or captured by some stupid scientist."

"Hmph!" was all Giro said in reply. He didn't feel the need to explain that he was over two hundred years old, himself. Giro turned to leave.

"You'll be back," the god of destruction('s... better half?) taunted.

Giro kept flying, ignoring the words of the biometal. He left the room, closing the door behind him, once again leaving the forbidden biometal to brood in darkness.

"He'll be back," the lump of metal repeated.

I had to larf at some of these quotes. It's pretty enjoyable overall. I'm curious to see where this leads.

Hehe... "Life as a sedentary lump of metal is rather boring". That never gets old for me!

BEHOLD, The Beltbuckle of Destruction! XD Poor O...reduced to a floating paperweight. Seriously, though, to see even a piece of the Omega Chronicles become Megaman ZX 3 would be the most epic video game event of the year! Celtis is one of my favorite characters, after all!

Thanks for all the positive comments! Maybe I should get to writing that second (and likely final) chapter sometime soon.
