Tutorial !! What is SVN? SVN is known as a Subversion Server. They've become popular within the past 5 years now. Now, in order to use a SVN Link, you need a Subversioning Client. TortoiseSVN is my choice. (Google it, you cant miss it) Once you have that ready and installed, your ready to try using it. Here, we will be using it for WIREMOD! What your going to want to do, is make a new folder on your desktop, you can name it whatever you wish, but for the sake of the already-linked wiremod tutorial, lets call it "wiremodCO". Next up, your going to right click the "wiremodCO" folder and click on "SVN Checkout" Under the "URL of repository" Your going to want to put the wiremod svn link, click okay and let it do its thing. Once that is done downloading the files, your going to want to do is open wiremodCO. There you will notice 4 folders and probably an info.txt. Now your thinking "What do I do with these". Dont worry, I will explain to you what to do. The folders that you want are "wire", "wire model pack 1", and "adv duplicator". You're going to want to move these into your addons folder. (In my case, its D:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\*omitted account name*\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons) THATS IT! You have Installed your first SVN addon! NOTE: (Other than Wiremod) If you checkout a folder for another svn link and notice any a "info.txt" file, Chances are you move The Folder you checked out into your addons, instead of its contents. ***PLACEHOLDER*** I knew this placeholder would come in handy. Okay before you join our server, go load up a random youtube video, Right click the video and go to settings. The First Tab should have a box that you should uncheck called "Enable Hardware Acceleration" Once you uncheck that, join our server. Its an issue with out addon PlayX and im sure it applies to every other in-game video player. Do this so when we load an online video, gmod doesnt crash on yu. Im really not sure if Vehicles will work. Everytime You spawn one (other than the seets), the server goes fubar and crashes. I already researched into this, It should be fixed in a steam update soon, if not steam, then an obvious gmod. |

Another issue people should know about/prepare for is to disable hardware acceleration for flash, so that ingame youtube videos don't crash them: [BF] Vehcks: did you say something [BF] Vehcks: because [BF] Vehcks: gmod froze on me [BF] Vehcks: I had to cut off the power [BF]Blaze SkyFire: [22:33] [BF]Blaze SkyFire: did you just go boom? [22:34] [BF]Blaze SkyFire: If so I know why [22:34] [BF]Blaze SkyFire: Disable Hardware Acceleration for Flash [BF] Vehcks: it was that bad [BF]Blaze SkyFire: You crashed because youtube was loading in the server [BF] Vehcks: how do I disable it [BF]Blaze SkyFire: Go play a random ass youtube video, right click the video, settings. [BF]Blaze SkyFire: First Tab, uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration Edited by Vehcklox, Feb 17 2011, 09:57 PM.
