:ph43r: WARNING :ph43r: The New grid is now live. And is scares the crap out of me. Some of you are now floating on fragments of San Francisco that have been cast adrift into the void of space. If this happens to you, please do two things: 1) Tell me if you believe your little island of reality shouldn't be abandoned, and why. 2) +ooc out. This first playable version of the grid only includes the new city layout and old city interiors. By-in-large, you're not going to see anything new except for the City itself. Direct your much-wanted criticisms to this thread! Brand-new locations (request them here) will start to trickle in once the great work itself is completed. At the basic level, the City is a 4x4 grid of rooms, called districts. These room have two kinds of exits: -Adjacent districts in one of the four cardinal directions, displayed after the description -Neighborhoods in that district, which follow standard exit conventions. The topmost (district) level of the city looks something like this; ![]() Everything bellow this level is still in flux, but playable. What is there is still rough, a little klunky, and some of it is still going to be pruned. All your favorite locations should be in there, and if not, bug me about it and I'll put them in - or a reasonable replacement. The grid is aranged (hopefully) thematically rather than strictly geographically. This is especially important for those of you who own property. During this transitional period, if you no longer like the neighbourhood your building has been assigned, you are free to request your home or buisness be moved to another district of the City. You are, in fact, encouraged to do so if you find a district that inspires you. |

After a slight detour to build the new cliffs neighbourhood (in land's End, featuring the Asylum), I'm moving on with phase II.2, or something, of building: revision of transfered property. Starting with the Hills, and the following neighbourhoods therein: If you own property or just like property in one of these regions, please discuss that in the Grid Complaints thread. I will be noting there any changes I make, or am considering making. Please PM me with anything you cannot discuss publically concerning those regions. Storytellers with vested interests please comment directly in the topic regarding this in the Builder forum. |

Because nobody stopped me, the city of Colma and the Pacifica suburb of Linda Mar are now acessible from Daly City and the Southern Peninsula. Linda Mar has a stretch of the costal highway, and a nice beachside motel which will get rooms if y'all promise to behave in them. Colma is the city San Franciscans famously buries their dead in. It may get some individual graveyards as they are warrented. But for now these areas are both fairly generic playgrounds for you to set a scene or two against. As always, leave comments in the Grid Complaints thread. |

Because of the pending changes to Chinatown, a second Zen temple has set up shop in Japantown (in the Mission district's Western Addition neighbourhood). Said temple is just a big empty hall right now, but may get some further rooms once I've had a chance to discuss the involved storytellers. It might also be moving (though not far) when the neighbourhood remodeling gets to Japantown, but for now it's there and is free for you to set scenes in or set fire to. Please do not set fire to it. |

Chinatown has had a minor facelift. In compleetely unrelated news, the Nippon-Kan is celebrating their umpteenth aniversery of serving the community and sharing the joy of tradtional Japanese martial arts and culture from their dojo in Japan Town. That's right, japan town. There they've always been. |

In anticipation of the North Beach redesign, Fiddler's Green has moved into Fisherman's Wharf. Where technically it could have been to begin with. |

North Beach's constituant rooms have been replaced with a new layout, this is a major facelift of the area. Once Again Some of you are now floating on fragments of San Francisco that have been cast adrift into the void of space. You will know this because the room will say so. If this happens to you, please do two things: 1) Tell me if you believe your little island of reality shouldn't be abandoned, and why. 2) +ooc out Please note that Hooper's, having no description, has not been brought into the new layout. Also, Al Hafez is temporarily located in North Beach but will be moving into the Tenderloin neighborhood shortly. |
