HPW 1: THE PREMIERE

LIVE FROM THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM – LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
MONDAY APRIL 3, 2017

The show began with a few pyrotechnics and a pan around the crowd as they rose to their feet with excitement. The theme for HPW programming blared across the speaker system as Samuel Santos and Henry Walsh walked out onto the rampway to an almighty cheer. Inside the ring Sienna Richards welcomed the fans to ‘Hollywood Pro’ before introducing herself and the commentary team. Santos high-fived a few hands in the front row as they made their way around the ring to the commentary table. No sooner had they run through the night’s action for the audience at home did ‘Home Sweet Hell’ by Susperia blast over the arena as Wulf Erikson began to make his entrance.

WULF ERIKSON v DAVID MENDES

Wulf was pretty hyped from the off, compared to the more nonchalant David Mendes. He extended his fist in a mark of respect but Mendes laughed and slapped it away before delivering Wulf with a few hard rights. Mendes appeared to be in control throughout these early exchanges, regularly going for the pinfall to no avail. He looked to have the match won early on when going for a diving elbow drop but Wulf rolled out of harm’s way at the last second. Erikson seized the moment though, clattering into the kneeling Mendes with a leg lariat. Wulf tried a pinfall but The Hollywood Highlight Reel kicked out. Mendes found the same outcome after drilling Erikson with a pumphandle slam. After a brief spell of brawling, Mendes sent Erikson to the outside with a hurricanrana. As he climbed back onto the apron, Mendes charged but The Silver Bullet pulled down the top rope, sending him flying onto the mats at ringside. Erikson then used the second rope to nail Mendes with a beautiful Asai moonsault. With both men down, the ref began the count, but Wulf stirred around 6 and rolled his opponent back into the ring. Erikson then went for a running shooting star press but Mendes saw it coming and had his knees up. The Hollywood Highlight Reel charged towards the ropes, springing backwards with a stunning Lionsault for a very near fall. Visibly frustrated, Mendes attempted his signature jumping cutter but Wulf managed to push him away. When Mendes turned back round, Wulf nailed him with At Wit’s End for the three count. With “Home Sweet Hell” playing in the background, Erikson climbed each turnbuckle with his arms raised. Conversely, when Mendes climbed to his feet, he shook his head in disgust, offering the referee some rather vulgar advice before storming back up the ramp.

WINNER: WULF ERIKSON

As Wulf continued to celebrate his victory Charles Fischer and Arcane entered the rampway much to the delight of the Hollywood fans. They each entered the ring and took turns to shake Wulf's hand in a congratulatory manner. As the music and cheers phased out Arcane, microphone already in hand, began to address the crowd.

He began with a reference to his history in California, having wrestled for various promotions in the area with great success. He then explained his role within the company as a minority shareholder and promised the standard of wrestling will reflect his own work. The crowd showed their appreciation with a round of “AR-CANE!” chants but he quickly reminded everyone who they are really here to see; the new stars of Hollywood Pro.

Charles then took his turn to thank the Hollywood crowd for turning out in such huge numbers for their opening night. He congratulated Wulf again and asked him to stay where he was because he wouldn't want to miss what they were about to say. He went on to say he had major announcements regarding the HPW Championship, the California Cup and the introduction of the Women's Championship, all much to the fans pleasing. First up, he declared, would be the California Cup. As many people knew the Cup will be used to stage matches between HPW wrestlers and not only the other promotions within the CWC, but outside also. He went on to say that there would be an 8-man round robin tournament to crown the first incumbent, held over three events, in the coming weeks.

Arcane then took to the mic to confirm the speculation surrounding the introduction of a HPW Women's championship. He said he had been overwhelmed by the number of talented female wrestlers that had signed on with Hollywood Pro, and while this was 100% an intergender federation, it was only right to celebrate what they had amongst their ranks. He went on to add that there would be a series of number one contenders matches on the next HPW event leading to a champion being crowned at the May 6th HPW Supershow.

No sooner had Arcane finished speaking Charles jumped in, struggling to contain his excitement. He said it was time for the biggest news of all. He said unlike his GCW counterpart, Chris Callum, he would not be so disrespectful to pre-crown any champions. Instead the first HPW champion would be crowned in a Hollywood Pro ring in front of Hollywood Pro fans, and that champion would be crowned TONIGHT!

The crowd went wild at the shock announcement, but none looked more bemused than Arcane, who clearly had no knowledge of this revelation. Charles went on to explain that any HPW wrestler to pick up a win on tonight's card will enter a Main Event Ladder Match later in the evening. He said Hollywood Pro was about drama and excitement and giving the fans what they want to see, and what they deserve. He then wished them an enjoyable evening as the two men left the ring in what appeared to be a heated exchange of words, while Wulf did another victory lap of the canvas.

JEANETTE JUSTICE v DAKOTA SHANE v CARLISLE DAVIS

Jeanette Justice made her entrance first, the local girl seemingly very popular amongst men and women alike. The former Dallas Cowboy's cheerleader looked right at home in the limelight, showing little, if nothing, in the way of nerves. Dakota Shane came out next, showing much of the same hubris despite a hostile reception. The jeers quickly turned into cheers though when Carlisle Davis hit the stage, the likeable Nevadan high-fiving as many fans as she could along the way. As the bell rang Dakota took a step back as the two rookies locked up in the middle of the ring. Once Carli got the advantage Dakota joined in to make it two on one before attacking Carli from behind. After a Reverse DDT she went for the pin but Davis kicked out. Justice was on her feet now and took full advantage of the situation to take control. A sidewalk slam and swinging neckbreaker later she looked to have the match won, but Davis broke the pinfall. The match was in her power now as she hit Jeanette with a Belly to Back Suplex and Dakota with a Monkey Flip but just as she was about to go for the T-Up (Straight Jacket Neckbreaker) three women began to make their way to the ring. Carli hesitated giving Dakota enough time to wriggle free and push her into the turnbuckle, following up with a running bulldog. The always-informed commentary team were quick to confirm the three women as Montana, Indiana and Carolina Shane, the sisters and Mother of Dakota, respectively. By now Jeanette was on her feet and forced Dakota into a lock up, whipping her into the ropes and clotheslining her to the mat. Montana then jumped up onto the ring apron distracting the Referee, much to Jeanette’s annoyance. She swung a right hook but Montana ducked causing JJ to lose her footing. Dakota was back to her feet by now after some encouragement from Carolina and made the most of Jeanette’s lapse in concentration with a Full Nelson Facebuster. Dakota made the cover as Carlisle got to her feet. She moved forward to break the count but Indiana grabbed her by the ankle from underneath the ropes out of the Referees sight allowing Dakota to claim the win.

WINNER: DAKOTA SHANE

Backstage HPW interviewer Marcella Soto was standing by with ‘Miss Assitude’ Eryn Tyme. She welcomed Eryn to Hollywood and jokingly congratulated her on being her first interview. After the pleasantries Eryn went onto say she was disappointed things didn't pan out in W3, but nothing has changed in terms of her goals. She joked that it was a blessing in disguise as the weather was better in Hollywood which meant she didn't have to wear as many clothes. She said she was offered, at the time, a golden opportunity to become a General Manager in W3, but that would have only got in the way of her wrestling career. Marcella asked her what the Hollywood fans could expect from ‘Miss Assitude’. Eryn said they could expect lots of fun, but ultimately she was going to ASSert herself as the best wrestler in HPW, with two belts around her waist. She chuckled to herself before blowing a kiss to the camera and leaving to prepare for her match.

JACK ROSE v DYLAN STYLES

The relatively unknown Jack Rose seemed an instant hit with the Hollywood crowd, unlike his opponent, Dylan Styles, who revelled in their vitriol. By and by they were an equal match for most of the bout until a mistake from Rose led to a Styles lariat clothesline. He set Rose up for the Paycheck (Go to Sleep) but Rose countered into a London Eye (Tilt o Whirl Backbreaker). He went up top for the Bed of Roses (Frog Splash) but Styles rolled out of the way and climbed to his feet. He hit Rose with a Pele kick and finished him off with the Death Penalty (450 Splash) for the 3 count. Afterwards he helped Rose to his feet and shook his hand knowing the Brit would be more than happy to reciprocate, but it was all a ruse as he nailed him with the Paycheck much to the disgust of the California crowd.

WINNER: DYLAN STYLES

FINCH MARUTA v THE MASKED SUPERSTAR JOBBER

Finch Maruta didn't waste no time in this CWC Showcase match, trying to punish The Masked Superstar Jobber as much and as quickly as possible. But the BCW man took great pleasure in escaping most of his offence, despite offering very little in return. Eventually after playing to the crowd Finch got the better of him and he was hit with a hard springboard corkscrew uppercut. Finch finished the job with a double knee facebreaker and made the pin for victory. He raised his arms in celebration but didn't overplay it knowing it was simply a case of getting the job done and moving onto the main event later in the evening.

WINNER: FINCH MARUTA

We cut to the back where Ash Scion is seen talking to Cynthia Machado. The two exchange pleasantries saying it's great to see so many talented women wrestlers signed to Hollywood Pro, and that, with any luck, the HPW Championship will be around a female waist by the end of the night. They both seemed bullish about their chances but respected each others confidence. Suddenly Dylan Styles comes into the picture, interrupting their conversation. He condescends them both, and the rest of the female roster, saying they shouldn't get ahead of themselves. He says they both have to face men bigger and probably better than they are to get to the Main Event. He points out that he already beat a well experienced male wrestler, and that he didn't think they would be capable of doing the same. Ash gets in his face, declaring she's beaten men better than Phillips, Kroft and far better than Styles in her career. Dylan smiles, knowing he's got under her skin, as Cynthia pulls her away, saying he’ll regret those comments later tonight, as Dylan leaves looking pleased with himself.

CHRIS GHENSI V THE NOMAD

With a beer bottle in hand, The Nomad made his entrance through the crowd, hassling various members of the audience for spare change. Chris Ghensi was hesitant when engaging with The Nomad - who looked like he hadn’t showered in months - but they eventually locked up. Ghensi quickly took control of the match, using a considerable weight advantage to ground and pound his homeless opponent. He tried to force a submission with a Boston crab but Nomad slowly clawed his way to the ropes. Ghensi then dragged him back into the centre of the ring, looking to apply an ankle lock, but The Nomad managed to roll out of it. Nomad swung a haymaker but Chris ducked under his arm and sent the hobo flying backwards with a German suplex. He pulled The Nomad up for a second German suplex, and then a third. However, the tide turned suddenly when The Lusus Naturae attempted a spear tackle but ran straight into a big boot. From here, a wild brawl entailed with both men trading punches until Nomad caught the referee with a flailing elbow. Sensing an opportunity, Chris struck Nomad with a low blow and rolled out of the ring to retrieve a steel chair. As he returned, Nomad sprung up from a downed position, smashing his empty beer bottle into Ghensi’s face. While screaming gibberish, Nomad rained down punches on The Lusus Naturae but then the referee began to stir. With shards of glass everywhere, the ref promptly called for the bell, disqualifying The Nomad and awarding victory to Ghensi. It took several security guards to drag the crazed Nomad away up the ramp, while medics tended to Ghensi, whose swollen face was masked in blood as he struggled to even stand.

WINNER: CHRIS GHENSI

Backstage Bishop Kroft was seen lacing up his boots and preparing for tonight's triple threat showcase. He looked calm and focused, content in his own company, when he was suddenly approached by his opponent, Journeyman Phillips. Phillips began to speak about Hollywood and wrestling in general. He said Hollywood was a place for desperate nobodies, praying that a bit of stardust would rub off on them someday. He said HPW was much the same, and only a fool would want to wrestle here on a full time basis. He had an air of arrogance about him, as he drew his attention towards Kroft’s gaze, who seemed unimpressed to be interrupted. Phillips added that he knew of Ash Scion from their time in the Western Wrestling Alliance. He said she had a big mouth that needed to be shut. Kroft said ordinarily he wouldn't care what Phillips has to say, but luckily for him, they were on the same page. He said he didn't really care about getting the win for GCW, as long as Scion and Hollywood Pro were upstaged. Phillips gave a wry smile and nodded in agreement as the cameras cut back to ringside.

CYNTHIA MACHADO v BROKEN MCLAUGHLIN

Cynthia looked pretty disturbed by Broken McLaughlin as he stood across the ring from her, pacing around the canvas eyeing her up and down. As the bell rang he wasted no time in unleashing a barrage of closed fist punches and kicks to the mid section. He tossed her across the ring and continued stomping away, maintaining the upper hand on the smaller Machado. She struggled to get any kind of momentum as the match wore on, kicking out of a series of two counts. McLaughlin laughed maniacally as she clutched her back in pain before picking her up and tossing her into the turnbuckle, charging after her for a running European Uppercut, but Cynthia used the ropes as a springboard as McLaughlin collided with the corner of the ring. He was met with a Hurricanrana as the crowd jumped to their feet at the power shift. Cynthia, still recovering, clambered to her feet first, shortly followed by McLaughlin. She went for the Sinfully Sweet Kick (Superkick) but McLaughlin ducked and countered with an attempted Sleeper Slam. He tried to lock it on but Cynthia used the turnbuckle for leverage and reversed over the top of him and into a Belly-to-Back Suplex. McLaughlin rolled out of the ring to recover as Cynthia goaded the California crowd to get behind her. This enraged McLaughlin who picked up a nearby steel chair and climbed into the ring without her noticing. He raised the chair in the air as the Referee waved his arms in protest. Cynthia saw this and turned around as McLaughlin jabbed it into her midsection before slamming it down on her back. He locked on the camel clutch as the Referee called for the bell and signalled for help from the back to pull the crazed McLaughlin off the helpless Machado.

WINNER: CYNTHIA MACHADO

The cameras cut to the backstage area where Jeanette Justice was standing by with Marcella Soto. Still in her ring gear, Jeanette looked disappointed in herself after losing earlier in the night. Marcella asked what it felt like to make her debut, despite not getting the win. She said she was bitterly disappointed but put it down to her being green. She believed she has all the assets to be a big star, winking as she says it, but that you can't buy experience. She learnt a valuable lesson to not take her eye off the ball, and that when the opportunity came to fight for the Women's Championship she would be more than ready.

ERYN TYME v MONTANA SHANE v KEIRA HAYDEN

Montana Shane made her entrance to widespread jeers - not that she seemed to mind - smiling smugly as she took her place in one corner of the ring. Keira Hayden got the crowd going as she strode out to “Solomon Eagle” but the biggest cheer was for Miss Assitude. She kept her opponents waiting to twerk at ringside for some delighted frat boys. When Eryn finally got in the ring, Montana wasted no time, drilling Eryn with a stiff roundhouse kick. Keira chopped Montana into a corner, the repeated blows making her slump to the floor. Keira backed up and charged, aiming to connect with a Yakuza kick, but Eryn sent her face first into the canvas with a drop toe hold. Eryn then hit the Moon Blast on the pair of them as the fans cheered in approval. However, none of the women could assert themselves on the match with momentum switching back and forth constantly. At one point, Montana locked Eryn in the Shane Solution but Keira broke the hold with a stomp just as Miss Assitude was about to tap. While Montana and Keira fought on, Eryn rolled out of the ring to recover. Keira thought she had the match won after hitting Montana with her Stamp of Approval but Eryn reached under the bottom rope, clasped her leg and pulled her right out of the ring. Miss Assitude then dropped her with the Countdown - a heart punch. As Eryn approached Montana, the Queen of Hardcore suddenly popped up with a European uppercut. Montana then went for the MKO but in a feat of strength, Eryn managed to hoist her into a tombstone position. With the crowd on their feet, Eryn delivered her Celtic Driver to end the match, just as Hayden had slid back into the ring. As her music played, Miss Assitude celebrated with another seductive dance and Keira even gave her a reluctant nod of respect before leaving. The same cannot be said for Montana, who threw a fit at ringside much to fans’ amusement.

WINNER: ERYN TYME

In the halls of the Hollywood Pavillions Broken McLaughlin is seen yelling obscenities in a quasi-British accent as the ring crew and backstage staff look on in fear. He turned a corner only to come face to face with Arcane who stopped him in his tracks. Arcane tells McLaughlin his actions were unacceptable in his match earlier. He said the same goes for The Nomad and that he won't stand for that kind of behaviour. If they want to pull stunts like that, he added, they can face the likes of eachother, next week in a No DQ match. Arcane said he would say the same to The Nomad but unsurprisingly he was a hard man to find. McLaughlin seemed amused at the idea and walked off laughing hysterically, continuing to yell at passers by.

The cameras then cut to another part of the backstage area to show Ash Scion walking through the hallways, looking very focused and limbering up as she goes. A huge cheer could be heard from the crowd in the distance, as the commentators gave a rundown of the upcoming triple threat match.

ASH SCION v JOURNEYMAN PHILLIPS v BISHOP KROFT

Phillips and Kroft came out first to a barrage of abuse from the partisan Hollywood fans. Neither man acknowledged one another as they stood across the ring on opposite sides. Scion was next to emerge. 'Don't Mess With Me’ by Brody Dalle blared across the HPW speakers as the crowd went wild at the sight of ‘The Bloodbath’. She made her way to the ring and climbed through the ropes making sure to look both of her opponents in the eye but as soon as the bell rung both men came forward and went for the HPW superstar. There was a series of ugly exchanges early on, as Scion, despite landing a few elbows, quickly succumbed to the two-man attack. It quickly escalated into a handicap match as Phillips and Kroft took turns to deliver blows and manoeuvres on the helpless Ash, with seemingly no interest in fighting each other. Santos and Walsh reminded the audience at home that only Ash Scion could progress to the Main Event Ladder Match, although that prospect looked quite unlikely at this moment in time. After a plethora of suplexes and power moves Kroft hit his signature Seed of Doubt, immediately followed by Phillips’ Fall From Grace. Journeyman went for the cover and looked to have it won but Kroft pulled him off before the end of the three count and made a cover of his own. Phillips retaliated as the pair squared up to one another in the ring, arguing over who should make the pinfall. Eventually Phillips backed down conceding before hitting Kroft with an cheap uppercut. The two went back and forth until Kroft got the upper hand. He went for another Seed of Doubt but Phillips ducked and delivered a jackknife powerbomb. This gave Scion enough time to recover but Phillips saw her coming and countered her attack with a boot to the face. After another 2 count he picked her up and whipped her into the ropes but Scion ducked on the return and caught him with a tornado DDT. As Scion caught her breath Kroft got back on his feet, while Journeyman wasn't far behind. Phillips went for a lariat clothesline on Scion but she moved out the way leaving Kroft to take the hit instead. Kroft rolled out of the ring as the veteran grappler walked into an opportunist Scion who hit him with her famous Watch It Burn (Gamengiri Kick) and cover for the 1, 2, 3. Scion stood up as the Referee raised her arm in victory, amidst the fans chanting her name.

WINNER: ASH SCION

The camera cut backstage again just as Marcella approached Arcane for an impromptu interview. She asked him for his thoughts on the main event of the evening - a ladder match for the HPW Championship - but his response was somewhat subdued. Arcane conceded it will certainly be entertaining but perhaps not the most prestigious way to crown a champion. He went on to reveal he was as surprised as everyone else when Charles Fischer announced the match earlier in the night. Marcella pressed Arcane on the details of his working relationship with Fischer but he politely excused himself from the interview, stating the main event was due to start.

HPW CHAMPIONSHIP LADDER MATCH: WULF ERIKSON v DAKOTA SHANE v DYLAN STYLES v FINCH MARUTA v CHRIS GHENSI v CYNTHIA MACHADO v ERYN TYME v ASH SCION

Before the match began Charles Fischer came out from the back to a round of applause from the fans. He took up a seat at the commentary table much to the surprise of Santos and Walsh. Fischer said he wanted a ringside seat when "his" first HPW Champion was crowned and he was excited to see who would be holding the belt at the end of the night. One by one the eight competitors made their way out to the ring. Wulf Erikson looked understandably fresher than most of his opponents, as he led the way to a great reception. Eryn Tyme and Cynthia Machado were next, as the cheers continued for the much loved female grapplers. Chris Ghensi, still a bloody mess, and Finch Maruta both looked focused and ready, staring their opponents down once they entered the ring. Dylan Styles came next, choosing not to enter the ring, instead taking up a seat at the commentary table himself. When asked why he said 'let dog eat dog, so I can feast on the bones'. Fischer seemed impressed with Styles’ tactics, asserting that he wasn't breaking any rules and showing a lot of initiative. Dakota Shane, accompanied by Montana were next out from gorilla. Montana kept her eyes fixed on Eryn Tyme the entire time, as Dakota stepped into the ring. Last out was Ash Scion. Still sweating and a little fatigued from her match just a few minutes prior. As the bell rang Chris Ghensi took it upon himself to get things underway, throwing right hooks and anyone and everyone in sight. He caught Eryn with a big punch sending her to the outside and Maruta to the canvas. But his luck ran out when he was double teamed by Scion and Machado, and he was soon tossed to the outside. Dakota wasn't far behind who was thrown to outside by Wulf after putting the boot into Maruta.

With three left Wulf sensed he was up against it and gestured for the two women to bring it, but after ducking their first attack he was soon on the outside as well. Cynthia and Ash looked at eachother and smiled before turning their attention to Styles. They both climbed out of the ring and rushed the commentary table as a two on one brawl ensued before Chris Ghensi waged in with an attack on Machado. Inside the ring Dakota began setting up a ladder after it was thrown under the ropes by her sister, but no sooner had she stepped on it was she pulled off by Eryn Tyme. Meanwhile as Finch and Wulf were battling on the outside, Ghensi was next to try his luck after getting the better of Cynthia. He made it halfway up the ladder but was the whole thing was soon shoved away by Eryn Tyme, catching his little Ghensis on the ropes as he fell. Eryn began to climb the ladder now, with no one around her to prevent her from getting the belt. She reached the top as the fans went wild, her finger tips touching the straps, when out of nowhere Montana Shane rolled in the ring and superkicked the ladder to the floor and Eryn with it! Montana was ordered to leave the ring and head straight to the back as Eryn rolled to the outside in agony. Scion and Erikson were now brawling on the outside after disposing of Styles and Maruta, respectively. After a few back and forth exchanges Wulf hit a leg lariat leaving Scion laid out on the outside of the ring. On the opposite side Cynthia and Dakota were both on their feet trading blows of their own as The Silver Bullet rolled under the ropes. He began climbing the ladder, but halfway up his attention turned to the two girls on the outside. Simultaneously they noticed him but before either could thwart his ascent The Neon Knight dived off, over the ropes and into the two women with a flying crossbody, taking them both out and injuring himself in the process.

Maruta and Scion were now in the ring going at it. Dylan Styles rose to his feet on the outside of the ring but thought better of it when he saw the Finch and Ash brawling. Maruta seemed to have the edge as he whipped Scion the ropes and went to follow up with his superman punch, but Scion stopped herself on the ropes and came at him with her Watch It Burn! The crowd were on their feet as Scion quickly jumped to her feet and ascended the ladder. She climbed up to around halfway, the fans willing her on every step of the way, when suddenly Dylan Styles entered the ring. He jumped up onto the steps and struck Scion before following her up the ladder. He struck her face off the steps and pulled her onto his shoulders driving her to the mat with his signature move, Paycheck! He didn't stop to assess the damage, instead climbing up to the top of the ladder. Just as he neared the top Wulf Erikson was on his feet and began making his way towards it only to be speared out of nowhere by Chris Ghensi, leaving Styles unopposed to release the strap and raise the belt in the air. His music began to play as Charles Fischer clapped, and Dylan yelled out from the top of the ladder in celebration as the night came to a close.
WINNER, AND NEW HPW CHAMPION: DYLAN STYLES
