HPW 4: LADIES NIGHT
LIVE FROM THE GALEN CENTER – LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA MONDAY APRIL 24, 2017
The show began with a recap of the previous week's action; Maruta, McLaughlin, Corvin and The Nomad brawling to a no contest; Erikson and Styles in a post-match war of words; Hot & Trashy laying in wait for Eryn Tyme before being run off by Blaise Fader; and Jeanette Justice seen celebrating her victory over Cynthia Machado. The HPW theme song then began to play followed by a small procession of fireworks. Henry Walsh and Samuel Santos greeted the fans at home, giving a thorough rundown of tonight’s card.
Once the music died out Charles Fischer and Arcane made their way out from the back to a mostly warm and welcome reception. Fischer thanked the crowd for their continued support. He said he was excited to see the California Cup get underway and hoped they would welcome the guest talent with open arms. He said the board had unanimously agreed to give some of their more coveted stars the night off tonight and as such there would be a big opportunity to see two women in the main event.
Arcane stepped in to remind Fischer that last week was also an all-female main event and they tore the house down. The fans enjoyed this, but Fischer got his back up. He said that even though Carli and Keira were not two of the biggest draws here in HPW it was nice that the women were given their time to shine and the exposure might generate more interest in the Women’s Championship. Arcane then reminded Fischer that HE introduced the Women’s Championship to attract the best female athletes to HPW and tonight's main event would exemplify that. He added that if Dylan Styles wasn't so well protected there might be just as much interest in the HPW Championship right now. With tensions rising Fischer quickly changed the subject and formally introduced the start of the California Cup tournament before leaving the ring to let things get underway.

JOEY ORTEGA vs. DILLON TAYLOR
The first match of the night saw the irrepressible Joey Ortega going up against CWC journeyman Dillon Taylor. Taylor was greeted with a warm reception while Ortega, a brawler with SAP and New Kingdom Pro, seemed unphased by the fans hostility towards himself. Ortega ripped straight into the Irishman - verbally at first, then physically as he sought to humiliate the young grappler on his home turf. Taylor remained focused though, despite the early onslaught from Ortega, who goaded the crowd as he controlled the match. But his hubris was downfall in the end when the spirited Taylor caught Ortega yelling at the fans and hit a Venom Bite - Stunner - out of nowhere to steal the win.
WINNER, AND THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS: DILLON TAYLOR

LIZZIE JONES vs. BIANCA DAVIS
Bianca Davis sauntered to the ring, "Confident" by Demi Lovato almost drowned out by the jeering crowd. Lizzie Jones came out Halestorm, the fans fully behind her, and she instantly went after Miss Hollywood as the match started. Lizzie initially wore down her opponent with a series of forearms and elbows, then tried to take her down with a Fujiwara armbar but Bianca rolled this into an arm drag. Bianca took control of the match following a hair pull backbreaker. Miss Hollywood choked Lizzie with her boot against the turnbuckle and then hit the Queen's Makeover (Sitout facebuster) for a near fall. Bianca then went for the Beauty Sleep (Go To Sleep) but Lizzie managed to squirm out of the fireman's carry position, landing behind Bianca and then dropping her with a reverse DDT for a near fall of her own. From here, Lizzie had all the momentum; she hit Davis with a snap suplex, scaled the nearest turnbuckle and connected with a frog splash. Bianca barely kicked out, and so Lizzie went for the Botox Breaker (Unprettier). As she twisted Bianca into position, Queen B slithered loose and then raked her nails down Lizzie's back. She then rolled her up with a handful of tights - and using the ropes for extra leverage! - but the oblivious referee made the three count regardless. Bianca immediately scampered up the ramp while Lizzie stood with hands on hips, a seething expression on her face.
WINNER: BIANCA DAVIS
Backstage Ryan Zane was seen talking to an attractive young stagehand. She didn't appear too interested at first but once he began name-dropping A-list celebrities she began to pay attention. Things appeared to be going a little better when suddenly David Mendes and Dylan Styles entered the scene. Dylan was dressed in street clothes with his HPW Championship slung proudly over his right shoulder. The girl looked impressed, seemingly no longer interested in Zane, but she was quickly repulsed by a drooling, moustache-stroking Mendes. As she walked off Zane bemoaned their timing, accusing the pair of ‘cock-blocking’ his chances but Styles interrupted. He said guys like them need not worry about missed opportunities, for they make their own fortune in this world. He said there was a reason he climbed the ladder and took the belt on the opening night, not because of luck or good timing, but because he was better than his opponents. He said people round here don't like Zane, much the same way they don't like himself and Mendes. He reasoned it was jealousy, because they were the elite. Styles added that it was dog eat dog in this place and he ought to consider which pack he wants to side with. He and Mendes then left leaving Zane to mull things over.

KENNY SEX vs. JACK ROSE
As the two men made their entrances the commentary team made reference to the obvious differences between these two grapplers. Rose looked unimpressed by the unorthodox Kenny Sex and struggled to come to terms with his unusual style of wrestling. Just as Rose tried switching things up Sex bamboozled him once more by becoming more technical. Rose took him to the mat looking pretty confident with himself but Sex found a way with out with the Ball Claw. Rose never fully recovered from this manoeuvre as ‘The Midget Magnet’ went for a Powerbomb and the match looked to be over, but astonishingly the Englishman reversed it into a potential powerslam, only for Sex to counter the move himself into his trademark Sex Drive (Fire Thunder Driver) for the win. He celebrated post-match blowing kisses to a thickly set woman in the crowd who seemed surprisingly flattered and grateful for the attention.
WINNER: KENNY SEX

LEXXI D. VINE vs. SAM TOLSON
The announce team noted a slight limp from Samantha Tolson as she made her way to ringside but Lexxi D. Vine had a spring in her step as she skipped out to "Call Me Superstar". As the bell rang, Lexxi made the L for loser sign at her opponent. Tolson shook her head in disgust and then dropped her to the floor with a vicious knife-edge chop. Lexxi scrambled back into the corner but Tolson advanced, striking her with several machine gun chops against the turnbuckle. She hit Lexxi with a wrist-clutch suplex but then clutched her left leg, wincing in pain. Meanwhile, Lexxi recovered, using this opportunity to hit Sam with a sloppy crescent kick. She tried to ground The Hardcore Queen of Suplex Nation with stomps but Sam caught a leg and took Lexxi down for some fierce elbow strikes. With her injury, Tolson could never really get a hold on the match. For example, after striking Lexxi with a stiff kick, she staggered long enough to give Daddy's Little Princess an opening - which she took with a bulldog. Lexxi then targeted Sam's left knee with a low dropkick and bounced off the ropes for The H8rmin8r (running curb stomp). She dived onto Sam and the referee counted three just before Sam kicked out. As the fans exploded in rage, Lexxi took a victory selfie with her signature pout. Two medics helped walk Samantha to the back while the announcers commended her fighting spirit for competing despite injury.
WINNER: LEXXI D. VINE
Carli Davis was seen in her locker room warming up for the main event when there was a knock at the door. In walked her opponent, Keira Hayden. The two women sized each other up for a bit before embracing in a respectful hug. Carli says it was a shame their misfortune had led to this match because she was growing quite fond of Keira. Keira echoed the same feelings, she said she hoped the best woman won, and that above all else they would put on a great show. They hugged once more before they were rudely interrupted by the Shane Sisters. Dakota made a crude girl on girl reference and asked if they could get involved. Montana laughed and joked that blondes were her favourite and she would happily be pinned to the mat by either one of them. Carli got up in her face, telling Montana that what they got up to in their own time was their business, but if they came in her locker room again she would have the last laugh. Dakota pulled her sister away, but not before leaving with a parting shot - she said she hoped they fared better in their singles match tonight because ‘as a team they weren't as attractive as their beautiful faces might suggest.’

THE NOMAD vs. RYAN ZANE
The Nomad wandered through the crowd, hassling people for money as usual. He downed the last of a beer bottle and laid it down on the ring apron. The bell rang but Ryan Zane refused to lock up with the filthy Nomad, holding his nose at the smell and complaining to the referee. The Nomad eventually tired of waiting and charged forward but Zane caught him with a spinning heel kick. Zane tried to use his standard game plan of brawling with his opponent but The Nomad quickly seized control with frenzied punches. Zane managed to duck one, utilizing his superior agility, and hit the Fameasser for a near-fall. Zane lost his focus momentarily, flexing for the crowd, but paid for it with a big boot. The Nomad used his reach advantage to pummel Zane in the corner, finally dropping him with a stiff heart punch. Nomad then dragged him back into the center of the ring - looking to make a pin - but Zane suddenly struck the vagrant with a low blow. Zane tried a roll up but Nomad kicked out. Ryan pulled him up with a handful of greasy hair but then Nomad thumbed him right in the eye. While Zane was temporarily blinded, shouting for help from the referee, Nomad grabbed the empty beer bottle and then shattered it over his head. The ref was subsequently forced to call for the bell, handing Nomad yet another disqualification loss. Medics than ran out to tend to the unconscious Zane, who was face down in a pool of his own blood. In another familiar sight, security escorted Nomad to the back.
WINNER: RYAN ZANE
In the backstage area Charles Fischer was seen talking to a few men in expensive suits when he was approached by Cynthia Machado. Cynthia was outraged by Fischer’s comments earlier in the night. She said he clearly had a narrow mind if he thought the women in HPW were incapable of pulling off a great main event. Fischer of course denied these accusations, trying to worm his way out of the situation but Cynthia was having none of it. She said he needed to take a leaf out of Arcane’s book, which didn't go down too well with the General Manager. The red-faced Fischer turned to his business associates to apologise but Machado wasn't finished. She told him if he thought the women in Hollywood Pro weren't on a par with the men he was sadly mistaken and tonight's main event would prove that.

JOSH KENNEDY vs. ALECHS AURELIO
The crowd were pretty excited to see two Californians in the ring together in Josh Kennedy and Alechs Aurelio. They shook hands before the bell and looked a pretty even match for the majority of the match up. Aurelio got the crowd on their feet with a springboard dropkick, before locking on a sharpshooter but Kennedy just about found the ropes. It looked as though the damage had already been done as he lined up The Cali Twist (Corkscrew Neckbreaker) but Kennedy hit a roundhouse kick for the counter. He didn't waste time to seize the moment hitting his signature Broken Mirror (Curb Stomp) to book his place in the semi-finals. After the bell Kennedy helped Aurelio to his feet and the two embraced in a mark of respect as the cameras cut to a commercial.
WINNER, AND THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS: JOSH KENNEDY

DAVID MENDES vs. TOM LOBIONDO
The next match was the singles debut of Tom LoBiondo against ‘The Hollywood Highlight Reel’ David Mendes. The San Diego man proved to be an instant hit with the California crowd as he more than matched his experienced opponent. Things were pretty fast paced early doors with both men flying around the ring. Mendes seemed to have the edge with an early lionsault but The Rebel Rockstar saw it coming and hit the arrogant Nevadan with his signature Mosh Pit - double knee facebuster. He set himself up for the Stage Dive (Frog Splash) to seal Mendes’ fate but Ryan Zane, face full of bandages, came running down the ring and pushed him off the turnbuckle. LoBiondo fell into the ring but steadied himself with a forward roll. Zane climbed into the ring as LoBiondo jumped to his feet. He tried to catch the Hollywood man with a superkick but Zane ducked and chopped him in the midsection. The Referee called for the bell as Zane followed up with a fameasser. Mendes was back on his feet now taking in the scene before him. He looked at Zane and let out a smile before lifting the wounded LoBiondo to his feet and hitting him with a lethal jumping cutter. Zane and Mendes then left the ring looking pleased with themselves as medics rushed to the canvas.
WINNER (BY DQ): TOM LOBIONDO
In the infamous HPW catering BCW’s Josh Kennedy was chewing the fat with Wulf Erikson and Finch Maruta. Finch was congratulating him on his win when in walked a forlorn Jack Rose. The three men turned to look at him as he eyeballed the Long Beach grappler. Josh tried easing the tension by slapping him on the shoulder, commiserating the Englishman on his defeat. Rose slapped him away offering a few choice words to the BCW man about what he'd do if he touched him again but Finch and Wulf stepped in between the two to diffuse the situation as Rose walked away with gritted teeth.

RACHEL REDDING vs. MATT BELLAMY
The third California Cup match saw Matt Bellamy take early control of the match. But Rachel Redding always seemed to have a hand or two still to play. The first came in the guise of an eye gouge much to the Referees ignorance, as Bellamy lost all momentum. Redding hit a snap DDT and a second rope dropkick as the GCW man staggered around the ring. Redding went for a knee strike but Bellamy caught her with a double leg takedown. He whipped her into the corner and followed up with a splash but Redding moved out the way hit her finisher Category 1 (V-Trigger) to seal the match much the fans dismay. She took to the mic afterwards and insulted her opponent and the CWC in general, enjoying every minute of the fans hostilities.
WINNER, AND THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS: RACHEL REDDING

JEANETTE JUSTICE vs. BLAISE FADER
As the entrances were made the crowd were on their feet for LA-girl Jeanette Justice, but it was nothing in comparison to when Blaise Fader arrived. The West Midlands grappler looked right at home with the West Coast crowd as she stopped to sign autographs en route to the ring. Once the match got underway she took firm control of the inexperienced Justice, utilising her strength and weight advantage throughout. The Hollywood crowd went wild as she hit a Lou Thesz Press and looked to have the match won with her signature Fade Away - Alley-Oop Facebuster - but Justice kicked out. Fader hooked her opponent up for the Coventry Blitz when all of sudden Montana Shane came running towards the ring, steel chair in hand. Fader, ready for a fight, dropped Justice to her feet who steadied herself up against the ropes. Montana looked like she was ready to attack the British grappler in return for last week but instead hit the unsuspecting Justice. Montana rolled out the ring laughing, she looked up at Fader and apologised sarcastically as the Referee rung the bell. Fader looked devastated and pleaded with the official to let the match continue but it was too late, he had to award the win to Justice via disqualification.
WINNER, BY DQ, AND THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS: JEANETTE JUSTICE
The cameras followed Blaise Fader through the backstage area as she stormed through the hallways and into the office of Charles Fischer. She demanded retribution against Montana Shane for causing her to lose the match. Fischer argued that after last week's incident they were probably even. This infuriated Fader who was quick to point out that there was a difference between costing someone the win in an important match and the time she saved Eryn Tyme from an unwarranted and cowardly two on one attack. Fischer conceded, in an attempt to diffuse the situation, before offering a solution. He said next week would see the three number one contenders; Cynthia Machado, Eryn Tyme and Montana Shane go up against Blaise Fader, Dakota Shane and the winner of tonight’s main event in a six-person tag match. Furthermore, he added, if anyone on Fader’s team, including herself, scored the pinfall they would steal the number one contender spot from the person they pinned. Fader looked content, as did Fischer who smirked, admiring his own ‘genuis’, before the cameras cut back to ringside.

CARLISLE DAVIS vs. KEIRA HAYDEN
Before the main event got underway Cynthia Machado, Lizzie Jones and Sam Tolson all made their way out to ringside and took up seats at the commentary table. Cynthia explained they were there as fans and in support of their fellow females as they were about ‘smash the Main Event’. Jones said HPW was leading the way in women's professional wrestling and that was why she came here. Tolson then added that it was great to see such a competitive women's division but Fischer shouldn't hold anyone back from reaching the top. All three women were vocally supportive of Davis and Hayden as they made their entrances while Henry Walsh explained the recent added incentive for the winner. The two girls embraced before locking up in the centre if the ring. The opening exchanges were slow as they showed each other a bit too much respect, but the crowd got going when Carli reversed a Northern Lights into a Belly to Back Suplex. She started hyping up the crowd as Hayden struggled to get a stronghold on the match but a mistake by her rookie opponent led to a cradle piledriver and shining wizard from the Irish girl. Carli climbed to her feet as Keira went for a Running European Uppercut but Carli ducked and hit a crucifix pin. Keira kicked out and hit back a dropkick but Carli bounced off the ropes and pulled a clothesline out of nowhere. The fans were on their feet as it went back and forth like this for quite sometime. Keira looked in sole control when she landed a modified brainbuster. She had the victory in sight as she set Carli up for the Stamp of Approval but Davis reversed, hoisted her up onto her shoulders and hit her finisher the 702 - Fireman’s Carry Cutter! The crowd were on their feet as the Referee counted 1.. 2.. 3! Carli climbed to her feet as her hand was raised in victory, before breaking free to check on her opponent. She helped Keira to her feet as both women received a standing ovation from the fans for putting on such an epic matchup. Machado, Tolson and Jones were on their feet too, applauding their fellow athletes inside the ring as the evening comes to a close.
WINNER:CARLISLE DAVIS
