By the time Liam got to the hospital Paz was out of bed and getting dressed. Already in a pair of yoga pants she was just about to slide a hoodie over her head but stopped when her eyes met his. She stood there staring at him with only her bra covering her upper body and her arms stuffed into the sleeves of her hoodie.

Paz: Hey.

Liam immediately walked over to her with a worried look in his eyes.

Liam: Babe, are you okay? What did the doctors say? How's your head?"

He started to look her head over but she pulled back a step.

Paz: Whoa. Easy. Stitches. Okay?

She sighed before leaning her head forward but he really couldn’t make much of anything out through the mass of hair atop her head.

Paz: Not sure what you can or can't see but I got a few stitches and they put me through the concussion protocol.

She looked him in the eyes once more, her vision seemingly clear and focused.

Paz: I'm find though, I swear. It was just a bottle, could've been way worse.

Liam gently rubbed his hands over her shoulders and sighed in relief as he peered into her eyes.

Liam: You better be okay. No lying to me. I'm not trying to baby you or anything, Paz, but you're my fiancée... I can't help but worry.

She held his gaze and didn't flinch.

Paz: I'm fine. Much better than Felix will be once I get my hands on him. How'd your match go? I heard it ended in a double DQ or some shit?

Liam shook his head.

Liam: It doesn't matter. Sean took a chair shot but he's fine. I just want to get you back to the hotel, alright? You need to rest.

Paz: Liam...

Her tone turned stern.

Paz: ...I'm fine. All I've been doing is resting. I don't have a concussion. You can talk to one of the doctors. I'm not lying.

Liam scoffed as he let go of her, his hands dropping to his sides.

Liam: Fine. Whatever. Sorry for fucking caring.

She sighed before sliding her hoodie on.

Paz: That's not what I'm saying. I'm angry Liam. Angry at Felix, angry at your father, angry at myself. I don't want to be babied right now. I don't blame you for trying I just want you to know where my head's at. Last thing I want is to play the victim right now.

Liam nodded and shrugged his shoulders.

Liam: Got it. Be angry. Do your thing. I'm not worried about it. You do you.

Her brow quirked as she studied his body language.

Paz: Why do I not believe that? I really don't need you pissed at me right now but I also don't have the patience to let you baby when I don't want to be babied.

Liam rolled his eyes in disbelief.

Liam: I'm not trying to baby you. I just care, okay? Fuck. I just won't care then.

Paz: Will stop overreacting already! This isn't about you Liam. It's not. I'm fine but I'm pissed. Your father came here, did you know that? He wanted to stand there while they picked glass out of my head. That man has done nothing but convince me to join his company and then stack the deck against me, so I didn't give him the satisfaction of watching me suffer more. I had him removed. I told hospital security he wasn't welcome, that he wasn't family. So physically Liam, I'm fine. But emotionally? I'm fucking livid and someone's going to pay. So you'll have to excuse me if I don't want to rush back to the hotel and take a nap."

Liam’s eyes widened in shock.

Liam: You did WHAT?! You told them he wasn't family? What the fuck is wrong with you? He came here to check on you and you do that because your ego is so fucking out of control?

Again he rolled his eyes.

Liam: Whatever. I'm going back to the hotel. You do whatever you want.

Paz’s jaw dropped.

Paz: MY ego?!

She hurried to catch up to him but her legs buckled as she caught herself on the counter. Swallowing hard she tried to hide the fact that for her the room was spinning.

Paz: Yeah. You go to the hotel. I'll catch up.

Liam rushed over and gently placed his hand on her back.

Liam: Paz!! Seriously? You're not okay. Come on, we don't need to stay here but let's just go somewhere together.

She nodded as her hand gripped his shoulder, her nails digging into his flesh. Her eyes found his only this time they seemed distant and vulnerable.

Paz: Just don't leave me, okay? Promise?

He looked into her eyes and nodded.

Liam: Of course. I won't leave you. Just... Let me take care of you. I know you're frustrated and don't want to be babied but this isn't being babied. We're supposed to look out for each other. So let me get you back to the hotel and we'll lie down together, yeah?

Paz nodded and offered a weak smile while leaning her weight against him.

Paz: Yeah. Of course. Sorry I snapped at you. Just a bad night I guess.

He wrapped his arms around her to hold her close and keep her from falling.

Liam: You have nothing to apologize for. I understand… and I love you.

She exhaled and practically melted into his grasp, leaning on him more than ever for support.

Paz: I love you too. Hope all my craziness didn't distract you too much from your match.

He sighed and shook his head.

Liam: Don't even worry about me or my match. I'm fine. All I care about is you.

He looked into her eyes.

Liam: Hey... You know you come before everything. Wrestling is nothing to me when it comes to you, to us. You're the only thing in my life that matters.

She snuggled in again and mewed softly as he guided her down the hall.

Paz: I know. I feel the same way about you. I just get crazy competitive sometimes and get caught up in everything. It's why I was better off staying away.

Liam laughed and shook his head as they continued to walk.

Liam: No, you were meant to do this. You always were. Sure at one point you were doing this for your brother but it's more than that. You're a competitor and you're fucking good. This is what you were always meant to do. I've known that since the first time I laid eyes on you at the GrayFoote gym.

She grinned before nearly stumbling over his feet as they were practically intertwined.

Paz: Not that it was my compete level you were checking out back then...

Liam chuckled and shrugged innocently.

Liam: It was, I swear!! But I was also checking out your butt a bit too.

She laughed as they passed through the sliding glass doors and out into the parking lot.

Paz: Good to see that even then your priorities were in order.

Reaching down her gently lifted her chin.

Liam: You’ll always be priority number one to me. Don’t you ever forget that.

Paz: Even if I’m picking fights with your dad and shit talking his company?

Liam grinned.

Liam: Especially then.

With a shared smile they got into their rental and drove back to the hotel.
