GCW 11 – A NIGHT IN AGGIELAND

LIVE FROM REED ARENA – COLLEGE STATION, TX
MONDAY – JUNE 19, 2017

“Wires” by Red Fang welcomes us to GCW 11 in College Station, Texas. Trevor Miller makes his way down to the ring to a good reaction from the fans as the announce team goes over the show to come later tonight, featuring the GCW Lone Star Championship tournament. Miller steps into the ring and grabs a microphone.

TREVOR MILLER:
“I don’t have a lot to say, but there is something that I need to get off my chest. Given all of the drama over the last few months with me in the center, I’ve stayed too silent for too long. So maybe this will turn into venting or whatever, but it needs to be said.”

He takes a deep breath before continuing, pacing around the ring.

TREVOR MILLER:
“A lot of people don’t realize that wrestlers have lives outside of the ring. We have friends, families, support networks… This job isn’t easy, and when things get rough we need to have people we count on to help us get through. That’s what I thought Cosmo Cooper was to me, but as it turns out, he was never planning to be there for me. I was just some dude that he could use to get to the top. He was never a friend.”

Trevor’s pace picked up as he continued.

TREVOR MILLER:
“When I put him through a table to get another shot at the Legacy Championship, I knew he’d be upset, but I figured he would get over it. Friends have to fight each other in this business, and when that happens everyone knows there has to be one winner and one loser. But Cosmo couldn’t stomach it. He couldn’t handle knowing that I am just as good at this as he is. Rather than handle it like a man, he decided to handle it like a bitch.”

The crowd pops, but Trevor doesn’t wait long to press on.

TREVOR MILLER:
“He paired up with Terry McKenna. He took another one of my friends away from me. And then he beat me to pulp in the ring moments after I won the Legacy Championship. I’ve tried to forgive him, trust me. I’ve tried to make sense of why he thought that was what he needed to do. But I realized recently that there’s no point in making an excuse for him. He’s a worthless brat, and I’ll never be able to forgive him for what he did.”

Fans are split on how they feel about Cosmo Cooper, but Miller doesn’t seem worried about that right now.

TREVOR MILLER:
“Fast forward to today – I am the number one contender for the GCW Championship. The belt that his girlfriend, Leela Watts, has held for a while now. The belt that she risked life and limb to defend last week in the Sole Survivor match. There are a lot of people out there trying to make this out as me and Cosmo on opposite sides once again, but I don’t look at it that way. This is Trevor Miller versus Leela Watts. Cosmo Cooper has the Legacy title that he sold his soul for, and I expect him to stay out of my business.”

He steps towards the hard camera.

TREVOR MILLER:
“So Leela, let me talk to you now. I know you’re a good person. You’re with Cosmo, and that’s great. You already know the type of man he is, and you made the call to be with him. Good luck with that, but fine. You’re an otherwise honorable person, so let me make this clear to you. Keep Cosmo out of it. Tell him to stay in the back. Tell him to stay away from me. When I beat you for the GCW Championship, I don’t want him to ruin my moment once again.”

Boos fill the arena, and Miller turns towards the ramp as Travis Kline makes his way down to the ring.

TRAVIS KLINE:
“Fine speech… fine speech Mr. Miller. But while I was listening in the back, I noticed a distinct lack of ME in your vision of the future.”

More boos as Kline snickers down the ramp. He climbs the steps and moves into the ring.

TRAVIS KLINE:
“Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for your new number one contender for the GCW Championship… Trevor Miller! Yeah!”

Kline extended a hand towards Miller. The fans hated his smugness.

TREVOR MILLER:
“If you have something to say, say it.”

Miller moved face to face with Kline, prompting him to back off.

TRAVIS KLINE:
“Look man, I’m sure you’re over the moon about your newfound fortune. A title shot at GCW 15 is nothing to scoff at. Congratulations. But you’re forgetting that I won the Stewart Beach Brawl. You’re forgetting that I can hand a referee a contract and get any title match I want at any time that I want it. So, maybe you do beat Leela Watts. That would be big for you. Wouldn’t it be so sad if, after a grueling match, I ran down to the ring and took that belt off of your shoulder?”

Miller rolled his eyes, unconcerned.

TREVOR MILLER:
“I’m aware that you’ve got the contract. But Travis, I’m not afraid of you. You were a joke before you won that match and you’re a joke today. Why don’t you stay out of our business and trade that thing in for a shot at the Lone Star Championship like you said you would?”

Kline smiled really wide.

TRAVIS KLINE:
“Unlike yours, Miller, my options are open. But if you think I’m a joke, why don’t we find out right now?”

“Lifted” by CL cuts both of the men off as Cosmo Cooper steps onto the stage, the GCW Legacy Championship over his shoulder. He waited for his music to play out before making his way down to the ring.

COSMO COOPER:
“For the love of God, you two, spare us the ratings and back away from each other.”

Cosmo began climbing the steps.

COSMO COOPER:
“Sorry I’m late Trevor. I was making out with Leela and then I had to shine up the Legacy Championship I took from you.”

He came face to face with Miller.

TREVOR MILLER:
“That’s real cute.”

Cosmo wasted no time firing back.

COSMO COOPER:
“The only cute thing in here right now is the two of you thinking I’ll let either of you get close to her and her championship.”

Miller hated that. He bit back.

TREVOR MILLER:
“Why don’t you let her fend for herself?”

Cosmo leaned in close and spoke plainly.

COSMO COOPER:
“Because real friends stick up for each other.”

Miller did a double take, and then had to step away.

TREVOR MILLER:
“You have got to be…”

Kline moved into the forefront.

TRAVIS KLINE:
“Hold up… hold up…! Cosmo, you seem to be forgetting that I don’t NEED permission from you to take that belt off of Leela. Hell, maybe I’ll do tonight after Zack Burton rips her head off.”

Cosmo came face to face with Kline.

COSMO COOPER:
“Give it a try, shithead. I’ll break your fucking arm.”

Almost as soon as Cosmo finished, a group of security personnel ran to the ring with Aspen Chaud following closely behind. They moved into the ring and made sure that all of the men were held apart.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“Alright… no one is breaking arms and this thing has gone on long enough. But Trevor and Travis, if you two want to square off next week, I’ll make sure there is a spot in the main event waiting.

The show’s music continues to play as security escorts Miller, Kline, and Cooper to the back. We fade into a short promotional package.

After the match we cut to the back. Liam Stark is talking on the phone dressed in street clothes, as he does not have a match tonight. He hangs up the phone when he is rushed by Zabrina Monetta and smothered in a hug.

ZABRINA MONETTEA:
“Liam! I was worried you weren’t going to be here tonight…”

He quickly pushes her away.

LIAM STARK:
“What do you want, Zabrina?”

Zabrina steps back, giving him the space he wants.

ZABRINA MONETTEA:
“I just wanted to… um… apologize. I know there was more I should have done in the Stewart Beach Brawl to help you. I don’t know what’s happened to me…”

He rolled his eyes before giving her a response.

LIAM STARK:
“Save it. I told you I was done with you, and I meant it. You’re out of your league here. Go get some training.”

A pause. Zabrina hung her head.

ZABRINA MONETTEA:
“They left me out of the Lone Star Championship tournament.”

Stark scoffed at her sadness.

LIAM STARK:
“Yeah. Because you can’t wrestle. Is it that hard to understand?”

She was tired of the negativity and decided to say something.

ZABRINA MONETTEA:
“Why are you being such a dick? I tried my best.”

He moved in close, making sure she could hear him clearly.

LIAM STARK:
“The last few weeks have been horrible for me, and you’re a big reason for that.”

Zabrina offered a desperate smile.

ZABRINA MONETTEA:
“I was wanting to come to the ring with you for your match next week. But I guess…”

Stark rolled his eyes and began walking away.

LIAM STARK:
“Don’t. Just stay away from me, Zabrina.”

Zabrina was left alone in the back. We cut to the ring after the camera lingers on her for a moment.

The camera cuts outside of the arena where we find Aspen Chaud, eyes closed, leaning against the side of the arena. She looks to be in deep meditation as the door swings open and Leela Watts, the GCW Champion, stumbles through the door. She spots Aspen and immediately begins heading back into the arena.

LEELA WATTS:
“Oh, hey… I didn’t realize you were… I’ll just…”

Aspen held out a hand, stopping Leela.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“Say, Leela. Everyone deserves some fresh air.”

She didn’t seem sure about it, but Leela closed the door and took a position beside Aspen.

LEELA WATTS:
“Right. Yeah. I’m not nervous… I’ve beaten Zack before… I can do it again…”

Leela closed her eyes as Aspen began to speak.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“There’s a lot happening for you right now, isn’t there? Zack targeting you. Trevor Miller on the horizon. Travis Kline, and then Cosmo…”

His name jolted Leela back into reality.

LEELA WATTS:
“Yeah. But Cosmo’s great. I really couldn’t ask for someone more supportive.”

After a snicker, Aspen replied.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“Men can certainly seem like assets, until they aren’t.”

A beat. Leela struggled to process what Aspen said.

LEELA WATTS:
“What do you mean?”

The General Manager let out a long sigh before responding.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“When I was wrestling there was always someone at my side. A man I recruited to watch my back. At some point though, I decided it was useless. They just get in the way. Testosterone… territorial nonsense. They’re easily distracted from the goal.”

Leela remained confused.

LEELA WATTS:
“The goal?”

Another snicker.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“Have you and Cosmo not talked about ruling this place? You’ve both got championships. There’s no doubt you’re in a position to make everyone else bend the knee.”

The Champion shrugged at the question.

LEELA WATTS:
“I mean, we just think It’s cool. Being champions together. It’s nice. But ‘bending the knee’, no, that hasn’t come up.”

Aspen turned to Leela now, big brown eyes staring right through the GCW Champion.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“Probably because he’s too busy measuring his dick against Travis and Trevor.”

She turned away once again.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“My advice? Kick him to the curb. Find someone more… manageable. There’s no room for love in wrestling, darling.”

Leela peeled herself off of the wall and moved in front of Aspen.

LEELA WATTS:
“Love? I mean… we aren’t at that point. Not that I don’t care about him. I don’t want to kick him to the curb. I like him. He likes me. We have fun together.”

Aspen crossed around Leela towards the door.

ASPEN CHAUD:
“It’s all fun and games until he decides the Legacy Championship isn’t enough. I watch out for the girls in this place, Leela. I know how it is trying to carve a path in a man’s world. Just… think about it. My door is always open to you.”

With that, she stepped inside the arena. The camera lingered on Leela for a moment before cutting back to the ring.

We cut to the GCW interview lounge and see Sarah Sharp waiting for her cue.

SARAH SHARP:
“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, Reverend Thomas Cromartie.”

The camera zooms out to reveal the Reverend standing next to Sarah.

SARAH SHARP:
“Rev, a lot of people think that you had the match against Ashley Tierney at Category 5 in the bad, but you lost your cool. Do you have any response to that?”

The Reverend is clearly upset, but he manages to speak.

REV. THOMAS CROMARTIE:
“Well Miss Sharp, I can’t say if I had the match in the bag. Ashley Tierney is a fierce competitor. But I do believe that I was my greatest enemy that night. And so, I want to apologize. To my friends, to my family, to the fans, and, most of all, to the Lord. I’ve asked for forgiveness, and I believe He has given it to me. Now I need to focus and keep along the right path.”

A shrill shriek comes from off camera.

CAROLINE O’HARA BURCHILL:
“Would you SHUT UP!”

Caroline O’Hara Burchill enters the scene, coming face to face with Thomas.

REV. THOMAS CROMARTIE:
“Can I help you ma’am?”

He tried to calm the situation, but Burchill was having none of it.

CAROLINE O’HARA BURCHILL:
“I’m trying to relax, and the sound of your bullshit is seeping through the walls.”

Cromartie lowers his head.

REV. THOMAS CROMARTIE:
“I’ll try to speak more quietly, ma’am.”

It doesn’t matter. Burchill snapped.

CAROLINE O’HARA BURCHILL:
“You don’t get the point, idiot. No one wants you here. You took a spot, from me I might add, and pissed it away at Category 5. I should be the CWC World Champion right now! I should be on all of the posters and people like YOU should BOW to people like ME.”

Now, the Rev decided to stand up for himself.

REV. THOMAS CROMARTIE:
“Miss Caroline, I don’t bow to anyone except the Lord.”

Burchill laughed at the statement.

CAROLINE O’HARA BURCHILL:
“Well maybe I’ll do something about that. Better pray extra hard.”

She left him alone in the interview lounge. We fade into a promotional package before cutting to the ring.

In the back, we see Gilbert Geiger as he is approached by Hercules Cortez.

GILBERT GEIGER:
“Well, well… if it isn’t the biggest loser in Gulf Coast Wrestling.”

Cortez stopped, but he didn’t seem interested or intimidated by Geiger at all.

HERCULES CORTEZ:
“It took three of you to take me down, little runt. Don’t piss me off.”

Geiger folded his arms with a smile.

GILBERT GEIGER:
“It’s alright man, don’t be upset. You got lucky enough to avoid me in the first round of the Lone Star Championship tournament, so maybe you’ll get a win.”

Hercules lunged forward, grabbing Geiger by the collar.

HERCULES CORTEZ:
“I told you not to piss me off.”

Christian Jones entered the scene, prompting Cortez to release Geiger and turn to him.

CHRISTIAN JONES:
“Geiger, you aren’t going to get the chance to take this guy on.”

Cortex came face to face with Jones while Geiger rubbed his neck.

GILBERT GEIGER:
“Oh, I’m not? Last I checked you couldn’t outlast me in Sole Survivor either.”

Jones didn’t turn to Geiger at all.

CHRISTIAN JONES:
“I’m not worried about Sole Survivor right now. What I’m wondering is why Hercules here seems to have a problem with me.”

Hercules said nothing, but Geiger interjected himself into the conversation.

GILBERT GEIGER:
“No… don’t change the subject here. You got me in the first round. Worry about me.”

Jones turned to Geiger.

CHRISTIAN JONES:
“You’ll be a big boy soon Geiger, until then… piss off. I’ll see you in a few weeks, Cortez.”

He shot one last look at Hercules and then left, with the other big man leaving shortly after.

GILBERT GEIGER:
“Figures.”

We fade back to the ring for the main event.
