![]() Saturday July 15, 2017 Arena Pier 10 San Juan, Puerto Rico Announcer: The following is the first match in the Caribbean Championship Tournament! The lights go out. As "Senbonzakura" by Lindsey Stirling starts to play, the crowd immediately goes wild. Even before the lights go back on, they begin cheering his name. Over and over again. Julian Tijerina's many fan girls rise to their feet, screaming his name and his moniker in complete excitement. The announcer introduces him as he's always introduced, first with his infamous title then extending his last name until the speaker almost runs out of breath, but no one really listens to the introduction. Everyone is more focused on the handsome silhouette that has finally, finally graced their region. The Caribbean erupts in delight as Julian finally comes out to his patented purple and pink spotlight. He takes out his trademark rose, sniffs it, pivots slowly for the benefit of the crowd, and finally walks towards the ramp. Along the way, he high-fives fans, and after almost getting pulled in the crowd by three rabid fan girls at ringside, surrenders his rose to one of them. While Julian goes through his entrance, his first opponent in the tournament, Raúl Cicerón glares at him throughout. The man does not look amused. Seconds later, they struggle for power before the referee separates them. Julian takes the opportunity to mock his opponent with a slap. That actually encourages Cicerón to be more aggressive, and he goes on the offensive with a barrage of strikes. Julian ducks Cicerón's attempt at his Glassjaw finisher. El Guapo leaves the ring to regain his composure. Cicerón pursues him but Julian immediately gives chase. As soon as they both get in the ring, Cicerón behind Julian, El Guapo gets the upperhand with #ArmDragCity followed immediately by Rompiendo el Hielo. The crowd cheers but it's not enough to seal the deal. Cicerón bounces back with a series of knife-edge chops, making the crowd wince, followed by a DDT and then a Curb Stomp. Julian manages to survive all that, much to the fans' delight. A little bit later, the pair exchange blows until Julian hits Storm's End from out of nowhere. The crowd explodes into a frenzy. The commentators explain that the match is over, that Julian should pin his downed opponent. Julian doesn't conform with the idea, however, and instead goes to the top rope to hit Heliocentricity. Announcer: And your winner, El Guapo, Julian Tijerina! After the match, Julian is seen backstage with his entourage, having a good time, watching on a monitor the other matches in the tournament. Patrick Carson enters the fray and gets invited to join Julian and his entourage, even getting offered some drinks. Julian mentions for the thousand time the after party he's going to throw after the tournament when he wins the Caribbean Championship, 100% confident that he will win the title when the night is over. Patrick asks him about his competition, to which Julian reiterates his confidence bordering arrogance. Announcer: The following contest is the first match for the Caribbean Championship Tournament Semi-finals! Skylar Moore surprises Julian by going on the offensive right away. A barrage of strikes takes Julian down on the mat before Skylar locks in an armbar that El Guapo struggles to get out from. He manages to pull himself and Skylar to the ropes, however, breaking the hold. Out of nowhere, while Skylar was being pushed away by the referee, Reventón comes out from under the ring to throw water in Julian's face, rejuvenating him, much to the laughter of the fans. Reventón quickly disappears under the ring before the referee could see him. Skylar immediately goes on the offensive right away but this time, Julian counters with a massive spinebuster. He takes control of the match, toying with Skylar, before prepping her for the Five Moves of Zoom. Unfortunately, Skylar moves, leaving Julian down before he could even start the string of moves. Skylar goes for another submission, this time her Moore Lock. Julian is unable to get out of it and almost faints from the pressure but Reventón once again saves his behind, disappearing as soon as he does his part. Julian ends up hitting Skylar with Storm's End to advance to the finals. Backstage, Ricky Sorrentino approaches Raúl Cicerón and Alejandro Ruiz, both still feeling a bit worn out from their previous matches in the tournament. Ricky has a wide smile on his face. Cicerón and Ruiz look like they're about to pummel Ricky to oblivion but he stops them by saying that he has a proposition for them. Both Miguel Rivera and Roberto Marcano make their way to the ring for the final match in the Caribbean Championship Tournament. Roberto is holding a black bag under his arm. Once in the ring, Miguel gives Roberto the microphone and CWL's owner talks about his positive opinion on the show before presenting the CWL's Caribbean Championship. He takes the title belt from the bag, raising it in the air for the crowd to see and cheer. Roberto Marcano: Through the night, eight wrestlers have been battling for the chance to be in this last match in this tournament for this title. But now, only two remain. May the better man win. Julian meets Ricky in the middle of the ring for the Finals of the Caribbean Championship Tournament. Whoever wins will become the first-ever Caribbean Champion, and it is clear in the determination in both competitors' faces, that they know how much this means not only to them but also to the Caribbean itself. They circle the ring, each other, looking for an opening. Ricky is the first to make an attack, which Julian simply moves away, the crowd playfully chanting “Olé!”, much to Ricky's anger. Julian challenges Ricky to charge at him again. Ricky does so and his gut eats a knee. Julian plants Ricky with a Spike DDT but his pin attempt only gets a one. Julian tries to follow up with an Elbow Drop but Ricky moves out of the way. Ricky returns the favor with a Jumping DDT but also only gets a one. Ricky does not miss a beat, eager to inflict as much punishment to Julian as he can, dominating Julian with strikes while the latter is still downed. The referee drags Ricky away from Julian, which leads to Ricky berating the unappreciative crowd. Ricky dominates Julian some more but El Guapo flips the script with Rompiendo el Hielo. Julian goes to the top rope, but even though Ricky moves out of the way, he still takes him down with a Crossbody version of the Frog Splash. It nets him a quick count but it's not enough to become the first-ever Caribbean Champion. A bit later, Julian tries to hit Storm's End on Ricky but Ricky counters, locking a Crossface on Julian. Reventón saves Julian's behind once again, coming out from under the ring to distract the referee so he wouldn't see Julian tap out. Ricky lets Julian go to hit Whoa Bro on Reventón, knocking him out. Ricky turns his attention back to Julian but almost gets pinned with a small package. Ricky ends up getting out of the ring, seemingly calling someone out. Raúl Cicerón and Alejandro Ruiz both make their presence felt. They don't look like they're only out there to watch the coronation of the first-ever Caribbean Champion. Julian intelligently becomes wary, preparing himself for an ambush. It comes but not at his expense. Cicerón and Alejandro lay waste to Reventón on the outside. As Julian attempts to come to Reventón's aid, Ricky hits him with the Whoa Bro for the win. Ricky, Raúl , and Alejandro continue their assault on Julian and Reventón after the match. The crowd clearly does not appreciate this, booing the trio heavily. The first-ever Caribbean Champion introduces himself and his new-found friends as The Cartel before medical staff arrive to take care of Julian and Reventón. At Coco's Cabana, a cult-favorite restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a party is raging on, an after-party. The Caribbean has seen its fair share of wild parties but nothing like this one. Julian Tijerina has taken his elite parties from his home country of Spain to his new second home in Puerto Rico. As with all #guapo parties, the music is top notch, Julian making sure he's booked the best of the best in the Puerto Rican music scene, and the alcohol is overflowing. This is one part no one wants to miss. Julian Tijerina: Hey, how are you? Julian goes through the crowd in the dimly lit restaurant, barely audible through the loud celebratory music, occasionally bumping into someone else he does not mean to bump into. The place, which Julian has recently purchased from the family of his old friend Coco Lopez, one of the many Coco Lopezes in their family tree, is packed to the brim. A few people are still standing outside, waiting to be let in. Some of them, Julian had to even shoo away. He had no choice. He had to make room for the important people, the people whom the party is for. Female Partygoer: Oh, my god! What the hell is that thing? Julian raises an eyebrow, immediately turning to the source of the commotion. As the party host extraordinaire, he needs to be extremely attentive to keep the party going. Otherwise, should he fail, the party stops. That's not what anyone wants. After a hard day's work, and today was an extremely hard day for Julian himself, this party is what just the doctor ordered. Julian Tijerina: Mi hermano! Julian stretches both arms in anticipation of a giant hug. Reventón does the same from a short distance away from him. The girls near the wall stare annoyed at Reventón but at the sight of Julian they begin to smile again. Reventón is oblivious to all that. He has his full attention on his brother of sorts. The tiny masked bull rushes at Julian and the pair give each other the tightest embrace either of them have received for a while. Julian Tijerina: Now what sort of mischief have you been up to? Didn't I tell you to man the doors? Reventón starts speaking in gibberish, if speaking is even the right term. Most of it is unintelligible sound, with a random gesture thrown here and there. Julian nods at all of that as if he understands. Maybe he does. Julian Tijerina: Okay, okay! Point taken! You ready to party? Reventón responds in grunts and whistles and chicken sounds. Julian Tijerina: Yes, I know we've already started the party. What I mean is that if you're ready to party party? Like actually party? Party hard? More unintelligible sounds from Reventón. Julian sighs and rolls his eyes. Reventón goes on and on, gestures here and there, weird sounds here and there, while Julian starts looking around, not a fan of his hermano lecturing him on the proper ways to handle alcohol. Although he never expected to see anything, anyone that could make him do a double take, he actually does. Julian whistles at the beauty a few feet from them. He wipes a sweat from his forehead as his knees start buckling. Reventón slaps his abs to calm him down. Julian Tijerina: Oh, hey, sorry, man! You know how I am. I easily get distracted by a pretty face. Although annoyed, Reventón turns to where Julian was staring and he too starts whistling under his mask. Steam starts leaving his nostrils. Julian runs a hand over Reventón's face to calm him down. Julian Tijerina: You're too obvious, hermano. Reventón shakes his head and crosses his arms. He looks away but can't resist stealing a glimpse of the beautiful lady. Julian Tijerina: Isn't that the owner of CWL? Reventón turns to Julian confused. Julian keeps his eyes on the lady, ignoring Reventón. Julian Tijerina: We've been tweeting each other. Julian smirks, proudly. Reventón shakes his head and grunts and barks and claps his hands together and against various parts of his body. Julian Tijerina: Oh, so she's not the owner? Then who is she? Reventón sighs. More weird farm noises and completely unrelated hand gestures abound. Julian Tijerina: Oh, so she's related to the owner of CWL! Sister? Social media manager? Vanessa Marcano? That is a lovely name. Vanessa Marcano finally notices Julian and gives him a smile. She raises a glass of piña colada at him. Julian smiles back at her and gives her a wink. She laughs it off before pointing at him, seemingly whispering something to the man before her. Michael Kelly looks enlightened at whatever Vanessa told him. He turns to Julian's direction and waves. Julian's smile turns into a frown. He exaggerates a smile at Michael who is surprised at his rudeness. Reventón moos at Julian. Julian Tijerina: I know, I know. It's just... Why is she with him instead of me? This is my party! I should be the one next to a gorgeous face. Just at that moment, Queen Lacey Turner walks near Julian and Reventón. Julian's eyes light up at the sight of her. Before he could talk to her, however, she raises a hand to his face. She walks away from them without even saying a word. Reventón starts laughing, honking like a donkey. Annoyed, Julian pushes Reventón away. Reventón is caught surprised, not to mention a little annoyed, so he pushes Julian away as well. In a matter of seconds, the two brothers starts wrestling each other in that tiny part of the wall, with Reventón getting the better of Julian, locking him in a side head lock. Vanessa Marcano: You guys seem like you're having fun? At the sound of Vanessa's voice, Julian immediately overpowers Reventón, lifting him straight in the air before throwing him into the crowd a few feet away. Reventón oinks as he flies through the air and into the surprised arms of Jezimai Jordan who has been talking to the Thrillseekers. Reventón waves at all three CWL stars who smile at him. Julian Tijerina: Yes, well, I'm always having fun. Vanessa chuckles a bit while Julian raises his eyebrows persistently. It's not a medical condition. He's just an idiot. Vanessa Marcano: Great party. Thanks for throwing it for CWL. Julian Tijerina: Thanks for coming. You want to dance? Vanessa Marcano: It's the Caribbean. Everyone always wants to dance. Vanessa leads Julian to the already densely populated dance floor. Roberto Marcano's sister, the CWL social media manager, gets to unwind and show off her impressive dancing skills. Julian, for one, is clearly impressed. He does the same, showing everyone how it's done. As the night starts winding down, Julian finds himself off the dance floor with Vanessa and taking photos, a lot of photos, with his hermano Reventón. Some of the photos include a really tight close-up of the brothers grinning like drunk idiots, Reventón riding around on top of the head of a laughing Jezimai Jordan, the Thrillseekers fending off Julian and Reventón in a keg stand battle, Lacey Turner slapping Julian, and Reventón taking a selfie with Michael Kelly in front of a passed-out Julian who a the male genitalia drawn on his face in black marker. The night is young, until people remember they are not. Julian Tijerina: Where the hell did we get a keg stand? Did someone bring that? Julian, seemingly sober, walks through the aftermath of the CWL after-party in Coco's Cabana. The restaurant survives in one piece, with nothing really broken or destroyed, only misplaced. Although most of the guests left before they could find themselves out-cold in the restaurant the next morning, there were a few who did just that. Or they would, should they wake up soon. After stopping by the empty and dripping keg of beer, Julian shakes his head and proceeds to carefully step over the sleeping half-naked teenage stranger on his way to the balcony. There were two others near the bar, but his staff were already on them. In a matter of hours, the place would be spotless and open for another day of food service. On the balcony, Julian sighs. There are no words to describe how beautiful and majestic the view from where he is is. Out into the Caribbean sea, his thoughts wander, a piña colada in his hand. Julian thinks about the Caribbean Championship Tournament. Although he is still technically the AXN World Heavyweight Champion, having won the title for the second time against the same man who beat him for it, he has long been away from that place. He has expanded his horizons, but to this day, he has yet to take home a new title, a different title, to commemorate his voyage into the unknown. He was so close to the title, to what could have been his first title outside of AXN, after AXN, the closest he has ever been to another title post-AXN. He fought everyone he could, tries his hardest, determined to become the first-ever Caribbean Champion. That sounded really good to his hear, becoming a first-ever champion...again. He was the first-ever, the inaugural AXN Intercontinental Champion. However, becoming the first-ever Carribean Champion would have been quite different if not even better. It would have, after all, made him the champion of a particular region, a foreign place, a place he now calls home. Alas, fate had other plans. He was not meant to be champion. At least he was outsmarted, outplayed, and outmanned, and by someone like Ricky Sorrentino whom not a lot of people even thought would get that far. Not to sound like a complete douchebag, which Julian is 100%, but the guy didn't seem like he'd be serious about such a privilege, an honor. Ricky didn't seem like he's taken anything seriously. Maybe this was his first. A championship can change a guy. Julian Tijerina: He didn't have to beatdown Reventón like that, though. He could've just sicked his dogs on me. Mi hermano didn't deserve to be attacked like that. Julian sighed, scowling. He had planned everything down to the last detail. After he was told which competitors would participate in the tournament, he devised the perfect plan to win the title. At least it was perfect in his head. All he needed was one ace, and that ace was none other than his hermano, Reventón. He thought that everyone else had no one else. He really underestimated his competition, especially the new and first-ever Caribbean Champion. Julian sighed again. He takes a disgruntled sip of his piña colada before staring at it, long and hard. A few seconds pass and he finally snaps out of it. Out of the corner of his eyes, he spots a yacht sail by. So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed And in the personals column, there was this letter I read If you like piña coladas, and getting caught in the rain Frowning, Julian narrows his eye, immediately spotting the yacht's massive pineapple flag. Julian Tijerina: All this moping is turning me sour. Julian gulps the rest of his piña colada. Julian Tijerina: I think I'm going to shove a pineapple up The Cartel's ass. Julian smirks as the yacht disappears from his line of sight. He continues staring out into the sea, savoring the refreshing moment he rarely has when living in the city.
