GCW 19 – WORLDWIDE APPROACHES

LIVE FROM THE REED GREEN COLISEUM – HATTIESBURG, MS
MONDAY – AUGUST 14, 2017
[/align]

The show begins with the opening video package, but instead of pyrotechnics tonight we hear Ashley Tierney’s music and she makes her way down to the ring with a sour look on her face. Once she gets a microphone, she begins to insult the Mississippi audience and their backwards way of life. They boo her as hard as they can, but Tierney ignores it and says that tonight she has something to say to Coba Sunday and Leela Watts, not the plebs who decided to come to the show tonight.

Tierney says that as the CWC World Champion, she expects a certain amount of respect. There are thirteen territories and no one in any of them has managed to lay a finger on her. She’s the undisputed best in the wrestling business, but very few thank her for her service. She continues by saying that when she challenged Leela Watts for the GCW Championship last week, she did not do it because she is greedy, she did it because GCW is her home territory, and she deserves to be the figurehead after all of the hard work she has done. Leela Watts managed to escape last Monday night because two people decided to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong – Coba Sunday and Alioth Starre.

At CWC Worldwide, Tierney says, Coba Sunday will pay for his crimes against the Queen. He’s nothing more than a junkie to her, and while she admires his high aspirations, she knows that he will never be able to take the title from her. She’s defended it five times now, and each time she managed to leave looking better than she did before. There is no King Coba, only a little peasant who will get what he deserves in the main event of CWC’s biggest event ever.

But it wasn’t Coba who fired the first shot in the main event last week – that was Leela Watts. If Coba never intervened, the match would have still ended because Tierney would have been disqualified. Alioth saw an opportunity to do damage to the woman he will face at CWC Worldwide, and Tierney respects that. But he made an enemy out of the Queen when he chose to strike during her match, the match that she earned. She says that she hopes Alioth Starre walks out of CWC Worldwide as a champion, because then she could go back to back defeating a false King and a false Emperor. Either way, though, he will feel her wrath.

Finally, she comes to Leela Watts, calling her “Sweet, Innocent Leela”. Nothing is ever her fault. The people love her. And she has Cosmo Cooper at her hip. Trevor Miller and Travis Kline broke up the dream once, but both men were unable to finish it. Tierney says that the championship around Leela’s waist rightfully belongs to her, and in due time, Leela will find out why she hasn’t managed to make a big impact on the greater CWC scene. Tierney drops the mic and exits. We fade to commercial break with a hype package for the upcoming Internet Championship match.

GCW INTERNET CHAMPIONSHIP
Alejandra vs. Ashley Marie Chase vs. Luke Jones

With all three competitors in the ring, the GCW Internet Championship is raised high into the air. The camera focuses in on Eliza Gray as she gives Alejandra a few last minute tips before the bell rings. When it finally sounds, Ale and Ashley Marie Chase charge Luke Jones, and it seems like they are going to keep their makeshift alliance going after last week. But Chase drops back while Ale stomps away at a cornered Jones and catches Ale in a waistlock before driving her down with a german suplex. Chase immediately charges forward, trying for Full Facial, the curbstomp, but Ale is able to duck out of the way. Ale pulls her into a fisherman suplex and is able to connect, but Luke Jones breaks up the pin attempt almost immediately.

Jones kicks Chase out of the ring and then goes to work on Ale, overpowering her with a few punches followed by a backbreaker. He makes the pin. 1…2…KICKOUT. Luke puts her in a headlock, but Ale slips out and kicks him right on the hamstring, bringing him down to a knee. She bounces off of the ropes and connects with a running thrust kick that sends Luke down. 1…2…KICKOUT. Luke barely managed to make it out of that one, but he did, and then made his way over to the corner. Ale sent him across the ring with a monkey flip and then climbed to the top rope. When Luke wobbled to her feet, she connected with Decelerator, a diving dropkick, and was up quickly to transition into the Galveston Cloverleaf. She flipped Luke over and had it in deep, but Ashley Marie Chase charged inside with a steel chair in hand and planted it across Ale’s back. Chase seemed pleased with her work as Ale rolled out of the ring and Luke struggled to get to his feet.

Chase planted the chair across Luke’s back as well before tossing it across the ring. She pulled Luke up and hooked the arms for the Namedropper, but Luke pushed forward and pressed Chase against the ropes. She released the hold and Luke got her with a back body drop. She went into the corner and Luke charged forward with a knee to the gut followed by a snapmare. Luke rushed forward with the Lexington Smash, but Chase ducked the discus elbow. She caught him as he turned around with the Kick of Doom. 1…2…NO! Ale was on the outside and she pulled Chase there with her. Chase landed face first on the floor, but Ale picked her up and tossed her over the barricade into the crowd. Ale slid inside and set up for the Red, White, and Green arrow as Luke made it to his feet. He turned around and she went for the superkick, but he avoided it and caught her in a powerbomb position. He struggled to keep her up for a moment, but then charged towards the corner for Keeping up with the Jones’, but Ale was clawing desperately at the eyes. Luke stopped midstride, and Ale rolled through into a pinning attempt. 1…2…3! That’s it! Ashley Marie Chase reached inside, but it was too little too late. Alejandra and Eliza Gray lifted the belt in the middle of the ring as the crowd gave them a mixed reaction.

WINNER: ALEJANDRA
(NEW GCW INTERNET CHAMPION)

After the match we cut to the back where we see Leela Watts getting ready for tag team action later tonight. There’s a knock on the locker room door and Cosmo Cooper bursts through the door with a big smile on his face. He gives Leela a hug and she remarks that this must mean he got word back from Callum and Aspen. He says yes, and if he is the one who pins Alioth Starre in their tag team match later tonight, the GCW Championship match at CWC Worldwide becomes a four way. Leela is thrilled for him, and Cosmo says that he’s so happy she isn’t getting jealous about it like so many other people would. Leela says she wants to fight only the best, and Cosmo is one of the best. They share a hug and Cosmo says that no matter what is on the line, getting the win tonight comes first. Leela laughs at that, not really believing it. She knows Cosmo is going to try to be the one who picks up the win. Cosmo says he’s going to get ready and then exits the locker room. We get a shot zooming in on the GCW Championship sitting beside Leela before we fade to the ring.

Layla Aishe & Liam Stark vs. Travis Kline & Zack Burton

Liam Stark and Zach Burton start for their team. Travis Kline taunts Layla from his corner about their upcoming match at Worldwide but she ignores him, focusing on the match at hand. Liam tries to cut down the big man with some quick strikes, using his feet to land some kicks to the legs. He uses the ropes for momentum and flings himself at Zach but he is caught. Zach lifts Liam up and drops him with a press slam. Burton picks up the pace and using a running body block to send Liam into the mat. He continues to beat down Liam who tries to fight off the much bigger man as best he can. Burton tags out and in comes Travis Kline who arrogantly mocks Layla from inside the ring while kicking at the body of Liam.

Snap Inverted DDT by Kline and he covers but Liam kicks out at two. Kline locks in a chinlock and screams for Liam to tap out but he uses the fans to will him back into the match. He elbows out and both men are back to their feet. Big Superkick from Liam! He follows it up with a neckbreaker. He covers but Travis fights out at two. Liam begins to make his way to his side of the ring and he reaches to tag in Layla but Travis has him by the feet. He pulls him back and right into a lariat. Travis tags out and back in comes Burton. Running cross body from Burton and he covers but Stark kicks out at two.

Burton has Liam up from the Baconator but Liam Stark slides down his back. He pushes Zach into the ropes and then jumps up to lock in a sleeperhold. The crowd is going wild. Burton is down to one Liam is flung off but lands on his feet. Springboard High Knee from Liam and both men are down. Burton is able to tag in Travis Kline. IN COMES LAYLA AISHE!

She hits a few flying forearms that take down Travis. He tries for a huge clothesline but she ducks. She hits a nice Superkick that sends Kline down to the mat. Burton is back up and he tries for another running body block but Liam and Layla hit dueling Superkicks and he tumbles to the outside. Travis hits a running kick on Liam but turns - In The Stars from outta nowhere! Layla covers and picks up the huge win for her team.

WINNERS: LAYLA AISHE & LIAM STARK

Back from the commercial break we find Luke Jones storming through the hallways. The camera follows him as he presses through the door to the General Manager’s office where he finds Aspen Chaud standing with GCW’s newest signee, Deacon Thomas. He tells Aspen that Alejandra winning the Internet Championship was bullshit because he was promised Derek Savage, and they didn’t even try to sign him. He demands a rematch for the belt, but Aspen manages to settle him down. She says that Savage refused to be booked by GCW, so the title was vacated. That means anyone could get a shot at it, and Alejandra picked up the win. Luke says whatever, but he still wants a rematch. Aspen says that the Internet Championship will be defended at CWC East Coast on a special pre-show livestream, but that the challenger has already been decided. Luke wants to know who the person is. Aspen introduces him to Deacon Thomas. Luke shakes his head and says that he doesn’t even know who this guy is. Deacon says that it is in Luke’s best interest to keep it that way. With that, Luke storms out of the office, Deacon watching him as he went, and then we fade back to the ring.

Alioth Starre & Kana Fable vs. Cosmo Cooper & Leela Watts

With a shot at the GCW Championship hanging in the balance, Cosmo Cooper elects to start the match for his team. Alioth steps into the ring, leaving Kana on the apron, and the bell sounds. Alioth and Cosmo meet in the middle, and Cosmo’s attempt to overpower Alioth is proven to be a bad decision. Alioth reverses the momentum and trips up Cosmo before immediately locking in a kneebar. After the initial burst of pain, Cosmo is able to turn the tables and sit up before landing some hard punches that force Alioth to break the hold. Alioth gets to his feet and then bounces off of the ropes. He tries for a low dropkick but Cosmo somersaults over him and Alioth slides into his side of the ring. He made the tag to Kana Fable and then flashed an arrogant smile Cosmo’s direction. Cosmo hesitated for a moment and Leela took the initiative and tagged herself in.

Kana and Leela went back and forth for a while, Kana trying to keep Leela grounded. For the most part it worked, but Leela was able to bounce off the ropes and catch Kana with a springboard back elbow. From there Leela was able to take control of the match, nailing Kana with a butterfly suplex. Kana was slow to get to her feet, which allowed Leela time to take a breath and then level her with a forearm to the back of the head. She tried for the cover. 1…2…KICKOUT. Kana reached for Leela’s arm but Leela was able to pull herself to safety. Kana used the ropes to pull herself up and Leela charged, but Kana pulled the top rope down and Leela ended up on the apron. Leela tried for a springboard move, but as soon as she got up there Alioth pulled her by the leg and Leela went tumbling to the outside. Kana made the tag to Alioth.

Alioth waited for Kana to get some shots in outside and then toss Leela back into the ring so he could pick her apart. He focused on the legs of course, landing a series of measured shots. He went for the Four Star Mary, but as soon as he encountered resistance he pulled away and then dropped an elbow across Leela’s chest. He pulled her into his corner and draped her leg over the rope. He kicked it until the referee backed him off, and then made the tag to Kana. Kana landed a few more stomps and then made the tag to Alioth, who did the exact same thing. Alioth pulled her into the middle of the ring and locked in the Four Star Mary, and Leela reached out as far as she could, but knew the ropes were too far away. The crowd was getting behind her and Cosmo didn’t want to see his shot at the title end this way. With the crowd’s support, Leela managed to turn the tables, but Alioth was quick to grab the ropes and break the hold.

Leela began crawling to her corner to make the tag, but Alioth had hold of her leg. When he lifted it up, Leela countered with an enziguri! Tag! Alioth made a desperate attempt to get to Kana, but Cosmo lifted him into a wheelbarrow position and slammed him against the mat. He charged Kana and knocked her off of the top before lifting Alioth and setting him down with the Cratermaker! 1…2…3! That’s it! Cosmo Cooper is getting a GCW Championship match at Worldwide! Leela came into the ring to celebrate with him, and we fade to commercial break with Alioth and Kana glaring at the couple from the ramp.

WINNERS: COSMO COOPER & LEELA WATTS

After the commercial break, we find Gilbert Geiger backstage with Samantha Brooks, his girlfriend. We haven’t seen her before, but a kiss establishes the relationship. She reminds Geiger that tonight is a big opportunity – the chance to go to CWC’s biggest event ever and fight for the GCW Championship. Geiger is clearly frustrated, he says that Cosmo Cooper being added to the match is bullshit, but Brooks calms him down. She says that it doesn’t matter who ends up in that match because this is his shot, and he can’t blow another opportunity like this. Geiger lowers his head. Brooks tells him he needs to get into that frame of mind to be a main eventer, and he agrees. We cut down to the ring as their conversation begins to fade out while they make their way down the hallway.

Caroline O’Hara Burchill vs. Josh Holloway

These two competitors will meet in three way action at CWC East Coast for the GCW Lone Star Championship, but both are ready to do damage to each other tonight. Josh Holloway and Caroline O’Hara Burchill meet in the middle of the ring and lock up. Holloway comes out with more steam and is able to back Burchill up into the corner with a series of knees to the gut. Burchill claws the eyes and then charges forward with a thesz press followed by some hard shots before Holloway can kick her off. They both get to their feet around the same time and Holloway catches Burchill in an exploder suplex before covering. 1…2…KICKOUT. He knew it wouldn’t be enough, but he kept the pressure on Burchill with knees to the back. She held onto the ropes and forced the referee to break the hold. Holloway ended up on the other side of the ring. When he came back her way Burchill got him with a high knee and then ripped him by the hair down to her other knee. She went into the corner, ready to charge forward with another knee to complete the trifecta, but it missed and Holloway rolled to the other side.

The back and forth action continued for a while until Burchill was able to plant Holloway with a DDT. 1…2…KICKOUT. She started to work on the arm, bending and prying every way that she could in a very brutal looking offense. Holloway ended up near the ropes and was pulled into a draping armbar that did a lot of damage before the referee could break the hold. Last week, Holloway had his knee targeted and he was still showing signs of weakness there. Now, Burchill was systematically taking the arm out of Holloway’s gameplan.

Holloway managed to thwart the offense of Burchill with a dropkick that caught her right under the chin. He had taken a lot of damage in this fight and was ready to end it. Holloway pulled Burchill into positon for the DTA, but Burchill managed to elbow her way back to the ground. She rolled him up quickly. 1…2…KICKOUT. Burchill snagged his arm and got the fujiwara armbar locked in tight, but Holloway had the ring presence to roll through the hold and get Burchill’s shoulders on the mat. 1…2…KICKOUT! Burchill rolled through to a vertical base and immediately slammed shoulder first into Holloway’s hurt arm.

After Holloway managed to pull himself out of a kimura lock, Burchill decided that brute force would be the best way to take him down. She pulled him into a headlock and made her way to the top rope to set up for “Killer Queen”, but when she spun around Holloway used her own momentum to slam her onto the mat. Burchill hurried to her feet and that may have been a mistake. She spun right into a superkick! Holloway fell on top for the pin. 1…2…KICKOUT! Holloway was frustrated, but he knew he had to stay focused. He went into the corner and lined Burchill up for Sovereign’s Blade, but when he charged, Burchill was able to evade and counter into a rollup. Her foot was on the ropes! 1…2…3! Burchill stole the win! She rushed to the ramp while Holloway screamed at the referee that he was sick of this happening.

WINNER: CAROLINE O’HARA BURCHILL

WINNING TEAM WILL REPRESENT GCW AT CWC EAST COAST
C. Jones, Cromartie, Newborn, and Hendrix vs. Cortez, Conway, Evans, and McKenna

All eight competitors are in the ring now, and they know that this could be their last shot to get a featured match on the Worldwide event. The winning team will go on to face teams from Liberty Pro and Force Pro in the main event of CWC East Coast. Thomas Cromartie, looking focused after his encounter with Voidstar last week, begins the match for his team against Jack Conway. The Rev is able to quickly take control over Conway, tossing him around the ring with ease. Conway gets a few shots in, but The Rev responds with harder shots of his own. Conway reaches over to his teammates to make the tag, but he is snagged by the foot and The Rev slings him into Capital Baptism. He makes the cover. 1…2…3!

Jack Conway has been eliminated

Terry McKenna rushes in for his already depleted side and begins working on The Rev, but the size is too much. Rev shoves him across the ring and makes the tag to Christian Jones. Jones moves in and McKenna immediately tries to lock in Lion’s Den. The triangle choke is thwarted by Jones who lefts McKenna into a modified powerbomb. He hooks the leg. 1…2…KICKOUT. McKenna is able to start crawling across the ring while Jones gets to his feet, and he comes within inches of making a tag. Jones pulls him back a short distance, but McKenna kicks himself free and makes the tag to Hercules Cortez. Cortez rushes the ring and ends up walking right into The Blackout, a coqina clutch, from Christian Jones. Hercules flails around in the ring, but he was caught completely off guard by this. Hercules has no choice but to tap out almost as quickly as he came in.

Hercules Cortez has been eliminated

Nicole Evans rushes inside and Christian Jones knows that Trish Newborn wants a piece of that. Newborn gets the tag and as Jones holds back Evans, Newborn tries for a rollup attempt. 1…2…KICKOUT. Evans moves into the corner for a breather but she’s charged immediately by Newborn. Evans rolls to the top and then back down with a crucifix. 1…2…KICKOUT. Newborn gets to her feet and lands a hard stomp to the gut of Evans before planting her down again with a backbreaker. 1…2…KICKOUT. Newborn pulls her into position and lands the swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker. 1…2…KICKOUT. Newborn backs off to feel the crowd behind her as Evans gets to her feet. Newborn charges, but Evans catches her with an armdrag and then makes the tag to Terry McKenna. McKenna rushes in and tries for the Lion’s Den, getting Newborn into position. But Newborn is able to get her feet underneath her and pin McKenna’s shoulders to the ground while the hold is still locked in. 1…2…3!

Terry McKenna is eliminated

Nicole Evans is the only one left for her team, and McKenna does her a solid by keeping the hold locked in long after the referee told him that enough was enough. Newborn was fading, which allowed Evans to swoop in, plant her with a DDT, and make the pin. 1…2…3!

Trish Newborn has been eliminated

Vanessa Hendrix slipped into the ring while Nicole was celebrating. When Nicole turned around, she ran right into a SPEAR from Hendrix! Hendrix hooked the leg – 1…2…3! That’s it! The Rev and Christian Jones made their way back into the ring as Newborn got to her feet. They had their hands raised in the middle of the ring, and it was announced that they would be representing GCW at CWC East Coast in the three way elimination tag team match.

WINNERS: JONES, CROMARTIE, NEWBORN, AND HENDRIX
