Highlights of death defying moves from a host of independent wrestlers play across the screen of a tablet. Feeble hands, almost arthritic in appearance clutch the tablet as Eddie Guevara sits in his wheelchair, giggling with glee as he watches the reel on a loop. Every now and again Eddie shifts his weight, imagining it were him flying through the air as the crowd roars. The arms of Paz Guevara wrap around him from behind, his sister’s chin resting on Eddie’s shoulder as the action on the screen reflects in her dark eyes. A smile curls to life at the corners of her mouth.

Paz Guevara: What the fuck is this shit? That’s not me. Not to mention the fact that those guys are spot monkeys. They get a pop, they get injured, then they get job saying, “welcome to Walmart.”

Eddie snorts while leaning into his sister’s embrace.

Eddie Guevara: It’s still entertaining. Would you rather I watch your momentous defeat of Rayven Hardy because she was distracted by some fat fuck? What’s with everyone in your company being so easily distracted anyways?

Paz shrugs into a sigh.

Paz Guevara: Damned if I know. This much I promise you, if Felix Vialpando’s music hits I will continue to focus on and beat the shit out of Smith Jones.

Eddie cranes his neck to look back at her.

Eddie Guevara: And when you’re crowned Empire Champion, where will the belt stay?

Paz laughs as she walks around front and snatches the tablet from his hands.

Paz Guevara: Being the keeper of the Canadian Title wasn’t enough for you? You’re greedy now?

Eddie Guevara: Maybe I’m tired of staring at the blank space on my shelf where that belt used to be.

Paz tosses the tablet on the couch, resting a hand on either side of her brother’s wheelchair as she looks into his eyes with resolute certainty.

Paz Guevara: I’ll make a deal with you; the Empire Championship or the CWC International Championship… you can be the keeper of one, because I’m winning both.

He grins.

Eddie Guevara: Empire. I’ve grown fond of their belts. You can keep the International, just so you have a little something for yourself.

She laughs while standing up and reaching into the back pocket of her jeans.

Paz Guevara: Wise choice. Here’s the thing, while I have no shortage of people who supposedly care about me and who are pulling for me, it’s important to me that I have the one person who’s been a fan from the first time I ever stepped foot in a ring, in the building on Friday. So…

Paz pulls a pair of plane tickets from her pocket.

Paz Guevara: I’ve made arrangements for both you and Dad to be there… ringside.

Eddie’s eyes widen as his tremoring hand grasps the tickets. He stares at them in disbelief before looking up at his sister.

Eddie Guevara: You sure I won’t be in the way?

Paz crouches down in front of him, grasping both of his hands in hers.

Paz Guevara: If I could have you in the ring with me, celebrating the victory, I would. You are never ever in my way. You’re the reason I do this. You’re what pushes me to do more, to be better. So I’m going to head out to Vegas for the week and get some training in but I’ll be there to meet you at the gate when you and Dad land in Toronto.

Eddie chokes up a little as he nods.

Eddie Guevara: That sounds great…

He draws a deep breath while staring into his sister’s eyes.

Eddie Guevara: Paz?

She smiles softly.

Paz Guevara: Yeah?

Eddie grins while ripping a long, wet fart.

Eddie Guevara: I really need to shit.

Paz pulls back, fanning her face as she yells at her older brother.

Paz Guevara: What the fuck, Eddie?! That’s disgusting!! You pushed that out!!

Eddie’s laughing hysterically at this point.

Eddie Guevara: I didn’t! I was holding it in because we were having a moment!!

Paz Guevara: Yeah? Well moment ruined, asshole! You could’ve just excused yourself and gone off to shit without announcing it!

Eddie Guevara: Yeah but where’s the fun in that?

Paz just stares at him.

Paz Guevara: I hope you shit yourself. I hope you shit yourself and it’s itchy and you’re stuck dealing with it until an aid comes in the morning, cuz I’m sure as fuck not helping you change.

Now Eddie’s laughing even harder.

Eddie Guevara: I didn’t shit myself. God, you’re so vindictive when you’re angry.

Paz rolls her eyes.

Paz Guevara: Whatever! Go shit already, pig.

Eddie maneuvers his electric wheelchair and starts down the hall.

Eddie Guevara: Don’t go far, I’m going to need you to help me wipe.

Paz Guevara: Fuck off. I’m not wiping your ass!

Eddie Guevara: Does Ally know you’re this adverse to shit? Not sure you’re the best choice to watch the kids.

Paz grabs a throw pillow from the couch and whips it at the back of Eddie’s head but he just laughs as he disappears down the hall.

Eddie Guevara: Love ya, sis!!

As he’s out of earshot Paz chuckles while talking to herself.

Paz Guevara: Love you too, you’re the best.

Suddenly her nose wrinkles before she storms off in a huff.

Paz Guevara: Gross! It’s a fucking lingerer!!
